      @@waltereturner Yeah, good luck on that, cause those GNX cars are sought after like crazy even though they aren't V8 cars. Personally, I wouldn't mind having one, as those turbocharged V6 Buicks were indeed fast for their time, but I still perfer my 1989 Crown Vic LX over it...

    Damn 28K now for a T-type. I wish i still had my 86' GN with digital cluster. Sold it in 1999 for 10K with 48K miles. For as heavy as it was it moved fast when the turbo kicked in. I had to have my uncle re weld the rear torque arms just from raw torque power.

    • @ct87gn25
      @ct87gn25 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Buick didn't make a T-Type for 87. They simply called them Turbo Regals. Unless it was a Grand National, Regal Limited Turbo, or the rare GNX. And Nick, that particular car your selling looks like a rare WE4 as it has black painted bumpers and the gray interior. Check the SPID label in the trunk (the label with all the options listed) and if you see the WE4 code listed, you have a WE4!!!

    • @bigtuna9529
      @bigtuna9529 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

  • @GrandCamino6
    @GrandCamino6 ปีที่แล้ว

    That’s a sweet WE4! You definitely don’t want that powermaster to fail. The pedal will go rock hard. You’ll essentially have manual brakes but the pedal has less leverage than the conventional vacuum brake system. Someone definitely cared for this car. The larger GNX style wheels really fill the wheel wells nicely. I see they put the expensive Billstein shocks on it as well. She probably just needed some fine tuning. The TPS, IAC + the fuel pressure as it has an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. The intercooler could have just been heat soaked & it may have just been pulling timing at WOT. I remember you mentioned it was 95.

  • @jdgreen214
    @jdgreen214 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    That brake light my friend is the powermaster starting to go. How do I know? I had 20k worth of work done to my GN. The car was gone for a year. Got it back to take it on its maiden voyage and that brake light popped on. Let's say I had to spend another grand on convertering it to vacuum with a kit from kirban. No problems since then. That brake system is like oil needs to be changed to function properly. also decompress it when in storage. Hydroboost is also an option but it subtracts a little from the the power steering.

  • @happycat0411
    @happycat0411 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Buick GNs were prone to clear coat peeling due to heat from the sun and the black paint. Buick GNs were undoubtedly fast for their time and if equipped with small shot of nitrous to get the turbo spinning the GN could easily keep up with most big block muscle cars. Those were the days when cars still had real steel front and rear bumpers, unlike today where most cars are just ABS plastic.

    10:55 Most likely the accumulator on the powermaster brake system. It’s getting pretty hard and costly to find parts for that system. A vacuum brake conversion is the most cost effective option to remedy the problem. All you need is a g-body vacuum brake master cylinder with the vacuum reservoir, the brake pedal to the vacuum brake system car (the powermaster brake pedal doesn’t have enough leverage) & a vacuum block to a TTA to pull your vacuum.

    That is not a scratch between the drip rail and the quarter panel glass. It is the G-body flexing. There is a aftermarket brace available for that.

    • @gloriamaletta8667
      @gloriamaletta8667 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The frame on a G-body is like or very simular to a light duty truck and is more sturdy than a unibody you may not know what a boxed frame is and the reason they don't make cars with a box frame anymore is it costs to much to do it but if you buy a Newer GM fullsize truck or SUV it has a boxed frame and yes they are not cheap l know I'm the original owner of a 1984 Monte Carlo SS the weak link in these cars is the 7.5 rearend that the GN and GNX came with a 8.5 rearend that are much more sturdy the frame on a old G-BODY is alot more durable than you think better than some of this cheap shit they make today

    • @gloriamaletta8667
      @gloriamaletta8667 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My 1984 Monte Carlo SS has the original frame a 540 crank horsepower aluminium LS that has clicked off high 10s low 11s in the quarter mile since 2008-2021 it hooks hard and goes straight the frame is stock it doesn't have any cracks on the body from the frame flexing my friends 1979 Malibu has gone 9.20s in the quarter mile with a stock G-BODY frame they are pretty simple and cost effective to modify my car has drag springs and rear lift bars drag shocks the Malibu does have coilovers but stock frame both cars have had the rear frame notched thinner and reboxed or welded this will generally get you a extra 1 inch of room to fit a 275/60/15 drag radials without rubbing the frame or rear fender well the other down point with a G-Body is the challenge to fit a decent size rear tire on the back without chewing them up on the frame or fender lip without tubing it

      @@nunya2779 you right most 80s muscle cars have weak engines can't argue that but a GNX still has respectable performance even compared to modern muscle cars today or older 60s or 70s muscle cars low 13s is more than capable of embarrassing many 60s 70s bigblock muscle cars

    Check the TPS., it doesn't take long.. U can back probe the sensor signal return lead at the plug to see if the signal is consistent,,, o to 4.5 or 5volts wide open throttle,, u just don't want it to read erratic, instead the voltage should raise n lower according to the throttle position, do it with motor off but key on in run position,, Or just simply replace the sensor if seems easier for you,, but in my opinion it sounds like the TPS could be at fault,, But then again U could consider Maf sensor but I'd lean towards the TPS first.,Nice Video!

    I grew up with these cars had a neighbor modify them and race them. This car is definitely not running correctly if it has more power at half throttle than full. Could be anything from tuning to fueling issues. Factory digital boost gauge is useless. Needs a good aftermarket gauge. Otherwise looks like a nice Turbo T. Good luck.

      Looks like a GN but its not. The T Type was available only in 1987 & shares the same drivetrain as the GN. You could order the T type with different colors & get leather seats which you couldn't get in the GN. The T type is actually slightly faster due to weighing a bit less & is very rare due to only being produced the one year.
