@Santino Javier I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Well holy crap. That was *far* more interesting and understandable than I thought it would be. Work says: "You must work at home so you don't die." Haltech says: "Let's teach the world about sizing NOS foggers." Winning.
You've asked us to cover this topic numerous times so today we’re exploring the magic of Nitrous Oxide. In this episode we cover the basics of Nitrous injection, different types of Nitrous kits and how to use them to make power! Coming soon in Part 2: How to use your ECU to successfully and safely control Nitrous injection.
Well done and thank you Scotty!!! This was the main go-to Power Adder back in the 80's... And the key ingredient that pushed my Grand National into the 10s!!! (A very big deal in the 80's!!) 😳 You've refreshed my memory in nice, simple language.... And THANKS for using thousanths of an inch for Jets!! Us Yanks still have a bit of trouble with some Metric measurements - especially measuring HP in KW!! 😖😳😳 .... Which I realize is your standard down there. I WISH you were up here!! But while they're FIXING their DOHC Engines, I'm still running!! 😜 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Thanks again Haltech! I’ve really been enjoying the vibe from your technically speaking video series, too marks to everyone involved making them possible. Far too often work can become work regardless of what your profession is, so when a manufacturer injects some spice things can be rejuvenated. I’m not a know it all so the information is useful, but, where things get super interesting is when the delivery of said information captivates customers who were once disinterested for one reason or another; that’s the real gem. Getting customers excited and engaged is a massive plus and I can’t say thanks enough because it’s no easy task to translate the work of a calibrator into an inviting sales pitch. Really looking forward to the next installment, cheers 🍻
Excellent Breakdown Scotty. Absolutely one of the best breakdowns of an entire system from bottle to fogger that I've ever heard. You explained so many of the finer details that people tend to miss or forget. Great work as usual mate.
Thanks Scotty your explanations are far more understandable than others. Thanks for all your time and effort its appreciated. Looking forward to Part 2 Control of Nitrous . Little Aussie Follower ....
Great Vid Scotty, the clearest and most through explanation of nitrous I have seen . Used the stuff for years but still learning . Never seen nitrous both side of a fogger before
Thanks! Very well described. I have never dealt with Nitrous systems and I probably never will, but its super nice knowing how it works and what is what.
Very nice explanation here. Well done! Personally I like mechanical horsepower over gas, but nos does have it's advantages. Especially when making a good sleeper. One of my most memorable nos setups was when I installed a 15hp fogger on a 450 dirbike. What a blast to ride!
Malcolm Hamilton Nitrous cams are similar to a good naturally aspirated cam. Since you’re still pulling everything in naturally through the engine the usual naturally aspirated stuff works.
I have a swap stock k24 in my Delsol. I'm in the process of building an extra engine for mad boost but in the meantime would running a 50-75 wet shot on a stock base map be okay to do while I finish my other engine. Naturally Aspirated it's not as fast as I would like and I only need this engine to last 2years as a weekend warrior. I'm running a wideband and im also interested in tunning this myself is this even plausible lol or will have a bad time?
I run a 75 wet shot on my k24. But I run e85. And i pulled a couple degrees of timing on my tune. Running stock tune and low octane fuel probably not a good idea.
It's not forgotten, it's just that modern turbos and superchargers allow you to keep having fun. Add to that the widespread availability of ethanol at the pump, why spray?
@@haltech I dont know buddy, a 400.00 LS motor, a cheap 7875 turbo, some valvesprings and some supporting mods, and ethanol. Try doing a nitrous combo that's reliable for the same money.........WAIT... WHY NOT DO A BUDGET TURBO LS AND A NITROUS LS, AND DO A COST AND PERFORMANCE COMPARISON? TEAM TURBO VS. TEAM NITROUS!
For "single entry point of additional fuel" wet systems, how much is even fuel distribution per-cylinder a factor? Eg do they run the system so rich that all cylinders get enough fuel, or are lean cylinders still a problem? Same question for the upcoming water/methanol injection video.
I’ve got a wet system in my VH commodore. I’m currently building a VS with an elite 2500 dry setup. Love the tutorial. If I might suggest a touch screen option so I can alter the progression without the need to plug in a laptop. Other than that it’s amazing
@@alanhilder1883 "what's in that bottle in your boot/trunk?" *me casually* "meth." ... ... *me realising what I just said* NONONONONO NOT *THAT* METH!
I like how you broke it down to basics in the beginning but I'm still wondering something. If air is 99% oxygen and nitrogen, how is nitrous oxide adding more nitrogen and oxygen? Denser molecules? Better ratio?
When you do direct port foggers does each individual jet increase the total shot of nitrous? For example: when you install a jet for a 50shot on each fogger and it’s directly ported on a 6cyl. Is it 50 X 6 = 300 shot?
I've always wondered why the CAN system can't be replaced with a Cat5/6 system using EtherCON connectors and some cheap relay modules. Wiring a car could be so much easier and flexible.
In the next video could you also touch on why some big turbo car's like JUN11 use nos to build up the boost and not just the transbrake. Cool video easy to understand and information too.
@Haltech Around 3:15 "it comes out of the fogger from very high pressure into very low pressure, and because of thermal expansion it becomes very cold..." In my understanding it's the energy needed to vaporize the N20 that makes it cold (Yes, it's expanding, but the phase change should have been in the lime light. Maybe this comes to a personal preference, but the way it was said in the video is misleading.
I thought what you purged was gasified nitrous not air, cause you have to purge every now and then and there is no way air gets into the system in the meantime (after the first purge).
@@paulfomin8945 eh not according to one old explanation I heard about it. He used it for cooling but apparently it was dumped into the cooling system. Wasn't recycling. It'd eventually drain. Well hidden but so they could claim that it was just a refrigerant leak if ever caught and not on purpose unless the switch was found.
personally, I dont care for nitrous or any other power adder that you have to replenis. Renting H.P. and Torque is a waste of money, inconvenient and dissapointing when your out at the wrong time.
If it weren't for icing and changing material properties (metals going from ductile to brittle) spraying liquid oxygen into the intake manifold would greatly increase the density of the air. Sadly that would probably melt/explode your motor as the combustion temperature and pressure go through the roof. Edit: Was thinking about forced induction.

But the Eve will screw it up big time...
Purging also gets the lines colder so the correct mass of nitrous come out of the jets.

What octane fuel do you need to use for nitrous oxideI I understand the 2 degrees per 50 horsepower rules and the colder spark plugs
Can you theoretically put nitrus in a diesel?
Well, yes, oxygen/nitrogen is also a key factor in combustion for a diesel engine. :)
