Hi Kris. Have just got round to start watching this series. Great great episode and am looking forward to watching the rest. Really good to see you back on TH-cam mate, have missed watching your videos 👍
Thanks Robert… not easy with the wind at times and even though I had my DJI Mic 2 with my on the trip I didn’t even use it. All audio straight from the Action 4 with a windjammer on it. Nice to hear the sound is coming through okay. How did you find the route when you did it…I bet it wasn’t as busy back then hey
Brilliant mate 🥾👍🏻 scenery looks awesome. Great to see you back on TH-cam… your subscribers are going up too I’ve noticed 👍🏻 I’ll look forward to the next one. Cheers 🥾😊
Thanks Ian really appreciate the support. Scenery was ace on this but definitely some challenging conditions which blocked a lot of the views but still awesome.
Thank you. It’s really tricky to just wild camp there although did see a few spots. But there are bivouac points at some places which is the way to go.
Looks stunning! Looking forward to part 2. I signed up to do this trek for charity 15 years ago but other peoole in the group didn't raise enough sponsorship in time so it was cancelled. So annoying 😆 not sure i could manage it nowadays with my rubbish knees lol
Aah that’s a shame you missed out due to others not raising enough money. I’m sure you could still do it as there’s not a set time to do it in and plenty of places to stop along the route to break it up more. Don’t rule it out…bucket list item still can be ticked off 😉
@RavenlyArt My motto exactly! Aah thank you I’m aiming to get back to weekly uploads. As I have 5 this week I may skip next Monday but then back to weekly again. People will be sick of seeing my face otherwise 😂
Cheers Rob really appreciate that. It’s a Senchi Designs hoody…the Alpha 60. Pretty hard to find in stock but they’re ace. Super lightweight and warm too.
New viewer and enjoying this Mont Blanc series , the chat , banter , views and reflections …. Be updating myself on your previous adventures … keep it up pal 👍🏻
Haha cheers Dave…there was no chance on this planet I was camping with all the clanging all night 🤣. It’s always great to first hear the bells to know you’re in the alps…but it wears thin 🤣🤣
Hey Kris, I'm really looking forward to following along with you on this adventure. Those alps are magnificent, but I love those little villages . they are so cool. I hope I'm thinking about the right trail. Otherwise, I sound like an idiot🤣🤣🤣🤣. Dwayne
Thanks Dwayne. It’s an amazing place and would love to go back again one day maybe in the summer so I can appreciate all the views as missed out on some of the views high up along the route with weather this time of year. Not an idiot at all…the villages are great over there. What a place to live.
Really looking forward to this series Kris. On the radar so I'll be making notes 😁 Congratulations on the achievement too. Very impressive stuff. Take care, Adge
Thanks Adge…your love it over there. Definitely suggest going a little earlier in the season for the weather but also means the trail will be busy so catch 22.
That’s the plan thanks Andrew. Really want to keep them coming weekly again but may skip next Monday with releasing 5 this week and return the following Monday. Want to be out lots in the hills now and really looking forward to winter camping again. Bring on the snow.
Cheers Bernard. I’m sure I’ll get her on a shorter long distance trail in the future but this one would’ve been too much. I love to push and eat up lots of miles a day so I’ll find one we can take a bit easier and do it together.
Look forward to watching the rest, I saw the action 4 comes with the dji mic 2 on Amazon so will probably opt for that over the 5 pro due to it coming with that wireless mic.
If that comes as a set that’s awesome. The Mic 2 is great I have the full system as use for all my gear like my Pocket 3 and even my Sony Camera. The 4 is a great camera and I still have 2 myself.
Haha cheers Andy. To be fair I really didn’t want to stop then anyway I wanted to keep pushing to the next site. But no chance I’d be lay with those bells banging all night. It’s bad enough with a flapping tent at times 😂
Great video. I really recognize all the places. Makes me want to go back to TMB. Could you mention a few words on your camera and microphone setup? The sound is really great. Do you use a lavalier mic, or what? Looking forward to next video. 👍
Hi Richard thanks for the feedback. Must admit it was nice to have a look at the footage when I got back and brought back the memories for me too. I like my usual vlogs I didn’t really do as many 3rd person clips walking away etc…as really moved quickly on this one and wanted to save my legs so I kept the filming quite short and just to capture my journey…rather than trying to make an epic vlog if that makes sense. So for the this one I just filmed on my DJI Action 4 on a shortish selfie stick to keep the weight down. No mics on this one although did take my DJI Mic 2 but decided not to use it. All audio just from the camera however did use a Windjammer on it. Annoyingly it did get in the shot quite a few times in later videos when it loosened up so had to crop a little so it wasn’t as obvious. All original vlogs on my channel were the GoPro and the last 10mths or so used the Action 4 as prefer it. Do have the Action 5 Pro now too. Hope that helps.
@@richard-j Action 5 is good for me as I have a couple of DJI Mic 2’s but honestly the Action 4 is brilliant. I’d save your money and pick up a deal on the 4. Slightly bitrate on the 4 too…I’ll still be keeping my 2x Action 4’s too.
Aah thank you 🙏🏼. It’s a great hike just a shame I had mixed weather…would’ve been great to have glorious sunshine everyday. Yes you have to book 9-12mths in advance normally however I was lucky to ask on the day and managed to get spaces as you’ll see in the following vids for a a couple of nights. It helped with the poor weather as many would not have made it to the refuge as they planned which would’ve left spaces…plus it was end of season which helped.
Thanks Craig. This is the Fenix 7X Pro Solar Sapphire. Recently updated from the 6X Pro as I had to do a warranty replacement and had the option to pay £150 extra to upgrade so was a no brainer.
Thanks Rhino. Really changed it up for this one with the gear. I love the senchi top I’ve had it a few months now and it’s honestly great. It’s the Alpha 60 and really light and warm and fits great. I also have the OMM Core Plus hoody but much prefer this one. Often out of stock though.
@@krisgleave have a look at the north face future fleece. It uses the alpha direct on the inside. Well made lightweight fleece looks great but obviously not a lightweight as the senchi just a bit more durable so I’ve heard.
@@Rhino11111111 I’ll have a look. I don’t really wear fleeces but these are superb. I do have the OMM Core Plus Hoody which is similar too but the Senchi I far better made and feels more durable and prefer the fit.
I imagine the weather was much better for you that time of year. How busy was the trail? I might do a simple kit video of what I took if I get time this week and I’ll try and include it in that for you as honestly it was great. Used it quite a few times now and when I went to Madeira a couple of months ago. Perfect.
@@krisgleave I did it in 6 days and the first three days were really rainy. Still a lot of snow on the higher passes too. I look forward to your next video
Thank you. Interesting story about that to be honest. I may try and do a kit video and talk about it. Can’t go through all the gear as can’t remember exactly what I took but be good to mention some of the things. Basically..,comfort and size wise it is ace. However….there was a major fault in production and god knows how this got through their QC but they produced lots of these pads with ZERO insulation in error. I only found out when I was there on email. They’ve replaced for free since but really poor for that to happen. So basically had zero R value on the trail. Thankfully weather wasn’t too cold. Not even opened the new replacement yet so I’ll have to test it some more. No apologies or anything.
@krisgleave no way! that's mad, it's a good thing you managed to get a bed in the refuseios then 😅 and that it wasn't freezing cold ground. Well I look forward to a review on your new one then lol. Day 2 looked a bit savage, you had a night mare of a day 😅😅
Yeah they’re ace aren’t they. So glad I decided to buy and take these. I do have other pairs of the otter socks but these smaller ones were great and loved the funky colour too. I hiked this at the start of September last month.
