Cheers Dave. Yeah it’s a strange one as absolute love being out I thrive of it and need it but not sure what stops me. I’m going to change things up and start putting dates in the diary and going regardless of weather and anything else. Think it’s the best way as leaving to the last minute to decide often doesn’t work for me
Great to see you back fella, keep these videos coming and the channel will grow huge without doubt. Would be good to see one from the Scottish mountains sometime 👍🏻
Cheers Andrew really appreciate that. Already have next weeks video edited and ready for next Monday and hope to get back out this week. I’d love to get to Scotland and looking at it at the moment actually. Just chatting with another friend on YT who’s heading up there in a week or so do debating joining him.
Nice to see you and Kaye again. I'm glad that you enjoyed yourselves, despite the unexpected snowstorm. As long as both of you stay safe. Hopefully you will be getting out hell of a lot more in the coming months.
Aww thanks as always and yes, definitely needed that. I headed out less than a week later solo on another snow summit camp in the Lakes which was ace too and that’ll be out next Monday.
Haha mountain goat 🐐 😂😂. Yeah it was a great camp and you did really well as know you had to conquer some fears on that one. Still gutted you fell and hurt yourself 😖 x
Great video. Looked a great camp despite the weather. Gotta say I love the tangerine look.haha Good to see you both out and about again. Look forward to catching up with you both sometime this year 🤙
Thanks Adge. Really needed that camp and feel like I’m back on it now. Did a solo winter snow camp in the Lake District just a few days later too and that’ll be out next Monday.
Haha cheers bud. Yeah it handled the winds great but the pitching…nightmare. Normally fine but as the inner and groundsheet wasn’t clipped together properly (probably from drying at home) I had to mess for ages my hands were freezing. The inner is great in this tent though compared to the Hilleberg Nallo. It doesn’t really flap inside but that Nallo is awful
yeah ive heard that about the nallo that one seems to look almost as tight as the fly ! haha funny to see you thinking about a soulo here then the following week we knoe what happens !! @@krisgleave
@@BooniesPeaks Hahaha foreshadowing! 😂😂. I was almost going to edit a little of next weeks video into this one as if I was dreaming about it haha. Decided against it. It stuck with me about the Hille and then spotted one on marketplace so had to buy it. So happy with it though they’re ace aren’t they
@BooniesPeaks For the price you want to get the use out of it so I know what you mean. Still have to use my Southern Cross 2 so at some stage I’ll have to take that over the Hille
hey Kris that was a really fun camp. some of that trail was a little sketchy but not too bad. it was great coming along with you my friend. I will see you on the next adventure. Dwayne
Thanks Dwayne! Yeah sketchy in places but honestly it was sp good up there. Didn’t show much in the video but felt bad for Kay hurting her leg. Should’ve seen it after…literally black 🫣😂
I can sympathise with your pitching woes, I always solo camp and always used small single pole tents but decided to treat myself to some more space so got an Abisko Light 2. A couple of pitches in the garden to see how it goes and then time to hit the snow covered mountains, the wind didn't do what it was supposed to and decided to blow at 40mph with gusts over 60 whilst changing direction. The tent was going everywhere in every shape, the ground was frozen solid making pegging out a slow process and when I got one pole fitted the tent turned into a stunt hang glider rolling over a few times while levitating several feet in the air on the end of a guy line, at this stage I decided I would scrap the pitching attempt and spend another considerable amount of time trying to get the unruly brute back into its bag before heading down. Hoping for better luck the next time. At least you have a new subscriber.
Haha I shouldn’t laugh but can literally picture that camp. Can be a nightmare pitching some tents can’t it. I’ve found the trick with this one is to pitch the pack 3 points first. Just make sure they’re good and the rest follows suit. As my last camp the tent was wet I separate it all apart (ground sheet, inner and outer) and put it all back together but must’ve missed a couple of clips. It made it a nightmare to pitch and the back wasn’t great. And when it was pitched I noticed the ground sheet wasn’t attached properly and couldn’t rectify especially as it was windy so left it. The tent was still solid which was good. But definitely need to pitch the back first then it’s good. Great to have you on board thank you
@@krisgleave feel free to laugh buddy, it was just one of those situations that went from bad to worse so no point in getting wound up about it but just see the humour. I had the rear pegged out and the vent guy attached to a ground anchor when the tent got sucked up by the freaky weather I was in the middle of and released itself from the rear pegs whilst doing several barrel rolls and thankfully still attached to the ground anchor. My back garden is obviously way to sheltered for trials 😉
@ExploreAboveAndBelow Sounds extreme haha but lived to tell the tail. Ground anchors and definitely worth having. I have them but never take them. Just picked up 4 titanium ground anchors I’ll be taking in future as smaller and lighter
We all lose our mogo mate and now it’s getting lighter in the evening we all start to feel better, love your honesty mate, but you’re definitely still punching.!!!👍👍
Hahaha. I don’t even mind the dark nights to be fair I do still love a long camp. It’s just the rain which is a frustration and obviously we’ve had the strong winds. Praying for the snow to return
Yes they’re great aren’t they. I have loads at home. On camps I often take two…one pink one blue. Pink for the tent and blue for my body. They’re great to dry yourself after a dip or shower etc too 🤙🏼
Cracking vid, new sub here. If you ever go onto glyders again, there is another slightly easier route down which Kaye would find better that leads into Gwern Gof Isaaf campsite. Where u were walking down at the end, if you looked across to your right that's it. ATB Paul 👍
Thanks for that. Thats actually the path we did take up and down which comes out at the campsite I think it’s the same one just had a look on OS maps. Great to have you onboard as a sub too thank you. Next time we head there I’ll take her up from the other side near devils kitchen too. Need to get her up Tryfan at some stage as I love that route and of course Bristly Ridge
@krisgleave It looks like u came down at the campsite near Tryfan Gwern Gof Uchaf, there is one further up called Gwern Gof Isaf. Bit of a longer route back to car but not as steep coming down. ATB Paul 👍
Great video ❤ the attachments for your water bottle and phone, are the part of the rucksack or have you bought them separately? If so what are they TIA ❤
Cheers Peter. Yes the pockets are part of the bag on the Atom Packs which are great. Although companies do make some attachments you can add to other bags if you don’t have any on yours that can do the job. I do have a couple that add on for an old bag which are the 3F UL Gear Water Bottle Pouches. If you google that and even without that brand you’ll see quite a few cheap options.
Yes that’s the pants! They’re are aren’t they. Mine are the ones with the cord waist but I see they do the ones with buttons too and slightly different, which do you have? If you have the one with buttons, do they have a way to tighten too with cord or do they need a belt? I need another pair so debating which to get but I definitely want some I can tighten
@caryhughes2155 Aah got you. The do a Torque Pant which we have and then the Torque Trouser. The latter also just have the button. I’ll avoid those then.
