I have 68 locs and I also started with 2 strand twists. I’m 5 months in and my locs are maturing nicely HOWEVER my hair texture is finer in the back and I’m noticing that on the bottom row of locs, I have 3 that are significantly thinner and longer compared to the rest. I might combine, but I also like the size disparity & curly ends so I might leave it alone. Adds a little razzle dazzle 😂
I am 10 months into my loc journey. I have 78 locks give or take one or two. I wanted to see what you look like because I keep seeing people with 100 to 120 locs and I’m wondering if mine were too big or if my hair was really thin because I do have fine thin hair. Other than the awkward length I’m very happy with my locks at this point. I got them because honestly I couldn’t afford to keep getting my hair done and this is a much cheaper alternative and looks good.
YESSSS GIRL, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS THOROUGH EXPLANATION. I just got my loc establishment again and keep going back and forth about whether I chose the right size… my anxiety along with what I thought was my preference is eating at me. I have 73 count but thick hair and ultimately the primary reason I got locs is because I want little to no maintenance! To me that defeats the purpose of locs. To each their own but that’s the whole reason. I’m not a big hair person so it was either locs or chop it.
I have very low-density hair, 4c, and very fine. I started my locs (did them myself) with no parting, I freestyle just by using my hand to grab a piece of hair the size I wanted them. I started with 96 but had to either split four they were a little too large for my taste, so now I have 100. By the way, my hair (two-strand twist) will start to loc in a few days, no joke. I stopped two-strand twisting my hair and only braid it just because of that. One thing I have to say, my hair was to my waist when I started my locs, how did they shrink all the way to just my shoulders lol! It doesn't bother me and I am so enjoying my journey. I have not, retwist yet, but will do this weekend after five weeks starting and YES, there is a lot of new growth. I do palm roll and detangled my hair at least twice a week to keep it from joining together and because I want my ends to remain curly, I add moisturizing curl butter (to my ends ONLY) every other day. I have shampooed my hair (in braids) twice since starting my loc with no problem, a few in the back came undone and I just retwisted. Do you think 100 locs will be enough to cover my head once they mature? I cannot see my scalp with the new grow but I know I will when I retwist this weekend. Thanks for all the recommendations and sorry for the long post.
I think the amount you have is good honestly especially once you said you don't have a scalpy look when your nee growth comes in, i think that's a good sign
Well, i only have like 34 as a high top. Sometimes i regret it because my loctitians part patterns were crooked. 5 months in i just go with it now. Ive learned to do my own retwist.
I had 54 and combed mine out because of inflammation in my scalp, I want my locs back so bad. I do it for the culture, unfortunately around the front and very back of my hair I'm on the thinner side and my middle or the rest is thicker but I hair altogether isn't thick. If that make sense.. so question I want to start over with 2 straind twists like you did.. but I was thinking of going for a lower amount now watching this video I have more questions 🤔 so in your opinion if you have any what are your thoughts on like 24-30 or a hair type like mine like 14 big locs?
@@WOLF-wu2rc it depends on what look you want. If you want microlocs, then probably more than 100 locs. But if you want thicker locs, probably 50 or less
I want to start with two strands twist buts doesnt starting with two strand give you less locs when they actually loc, and ehen you do a retwist it will be even less. Correct me if im wrong!
i want more locs i currently have 53 and it just doesnt look right and im a year into my journey and only way i can do it is to restart but i dont want to is there way i can add more dreads through the parts with space or just some of the dreads?
@@gabespeed4865 i don't know if there's a way you can add any, unless you have a loctician do a "loc repair" and thats usually done on broken or thinning locs. Either that or add some hair in. But neither of those i would recommend for you i'd just start over if you really don't like them
My hair is fine, and I think I have low density. I have 339 starter microlocs, and I have to convince myself that it's a good number. I wish I had more, but I don't think my hair would be healthy in the long run. At least now I have a good and solid foundation. When I look at my hair, I can't actually picture splitting the locs into two. They would be too tiny and probably unhealthy. Anyway, I just hope they fill in eventually.
I rly rly need your help so i started my locs two weeks okay with short hair yk one strand 2 weeks later my retwist i tell my mum double i go on yt and see how bad it ends up what do i do?
@@holisticflo tysm for responding but rly jus misunderstanding bc i didnt know much but startes locs so pretty much i started with coils then in my retwist i doubled into two strand but i did jus research and jus realized all i gotta do every retwist now is ur yk retwist it with a comb thats right?

Yess having different densities throughout the head is actually pretty common. I noticed the same thing a few months Into my journey also
That’s me too! Mine even came unraveled out!🥹..I had to braid some just so they won’t come undone 🥹

My hair is medium density so I have around 85 locs 6 months in🤗

Thanks for sharing! Just know that good hair care comes from the inside, out
Me watching this 6 months in😭 with 82
Its okay, i have combined multiple times!
Is 60 enough for dreadlocks extensions cause my head kinda big
Yea you'd want to find thick enough dreadlock extensions because your locs will be thick
I have 347 but I want them to be smaller so I'm going to split them
Okay cool
I have 53 full head I think I want to restart 😵💫
Why?
Why is not having a lot of volume considered undesirable or bad in the loc community? That whole shout out seemed so backhanded 😭
Maybe it was backhanded at the time I made this video like more than a year ago lol. 🤷🏽♀️
I have like 47 is that bad I’ve had them for a year
No thats not bad, you're hair can be healthy with any number of locs
