@@DasTactic Not only that but ww2 has a charm to it that the modern games, as good as they are; are missing. The fact your squads don't get insta deleted makes the game so much more of a slugfest. I always akin it to world of tanks vs world of warships.
@@RangerJahu I've played all the modern games, but only those. Kind of dreading getting into this. Waaay too used to having tanks with advanced optics deleting the enemy from 2km and 4 minute artillery call-in times, not to mention LMG's in pretty much every squad... Gotta adjust to the low-tech setting I imagine.
Very nice tut for basic stuff. I also printed out the shortcuts section of the game manual to help me out with controls. 😅 22:15 - 27:30 > Shortcuts, controls and basic commands 101
Hi Das, good to see you enjoying CM 😊 A couple of advice: doors and windows count. Make sure that the building you are entering does indeed have openings facing the way you want. When moving into possible contact it’s better to have your guys take a turn or two to observe the terrain they arrive in by have very short range fire range to make sure they don’t engage anything before you are ready. And spilt a couple of guys out and let them do the running and spotting for rest of the squad. Scout teams exists for a reason, and it’s better to loose a couple of men than a full squad 😊
Didnt expect i ever see you playing it. I own all of the WW2-CMs and enjoy them most of the time, however its very micro managy due to several reasons, so im not always in the mood to play it, and is has numerous other flaws. The only two similar games that come to my mind are graviteam tactics and armored brigade. CM is quite unique in a sense, thats why i like it i cant really recommend the quick battles. The AI is almost non existent and very, very basic in these kind of missions and doesnt properly react to player inputs. Thats also true for Scenarios and Campaigns, but they are much better because they are scripted Some "mechanical" advice: The hide command makes your units try to hide, as the command says, as much as possible, but it ALSO lowers your units ability to spot enemys. which makes sense in a way, because if you keep your head down you wont be able to spot really good. Hide is very good for enemy artillery, if your units are in foxholes for example. its also good for ambushes, of course you have to know where the enemy is coming from in that case also units share spotted targets to each other, they dont only communicate it up to the commander. of course they have to be in range, but im not sure how close they must be. i think visual range isnt enough, but i might be wrong here. this is also true for information sharing between tanks and infantry, however the tanks commander mustve opened the hatch to actually hear the infantry deploying times for machine guns are longer if placed inside building. dont know how much longer though, i never payed much attention
What about technical issues? Frame rate and nasty lags, which are really annoying for the whole series? Do the battle size and units speeds here somewhat fix that problems? And unit spotting and visibility issues - for example, in CM: CW I often had to aim some tanks manually (with success) to hit absolutely clearly visible vehicles in open field just 100m away.
yaaas i love that you're doing combat mission!
BROTHER! I'm with you!!
Such a great game. :)

"Ausbildung" means, that it is a unit in training. So green/conscript/recruit infantry basically.

I love Graviteam Tactics, would be great to see Das play it some day.
Thanks for your helpful input. ✌️
