- In this Video Lecture, Professor Fink describes the 3 major Cardiovascular factors that can lead to Acute Hypotension (Circulatory Shock): [1] Cardiogenic; [2] Low Resistance (Anaphylactic) & [3] Hypovolemic. Professor Fink then reviews the homeostatic reflexes that compensate for the drop in Blood Pressure, including the Baroreceptor Reflex and the Hormonal Reflexes (Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone and ADH). Reference is made to hemorrhagic shock, hypovolemic shock caused by extensive burns, dehydration associated osmotic diuresis via the Kidneys, fluid loss via the G-I Tract and profuse sweating (Heat Exhaustion).
