    Without accessing the cars DME info with INPA (one tool source for example) you can't confirm weather the battery capacity change has been 'coded'. Date change is battery 'registration' (which can also be confirmed using INPA). Unclear weather this tool can battery code, or register until it's confirmed through accessing the DME info.

    You said you replaced the battery with one of a different capacity -- but nowhere on the scan tool did you actually enter the new battery's capacity...?

    • @MeadowgateWorks
      @MeadowgateWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it didn’t ask for it, I think it just needs to know it’s different, no issues with mine since installing

    @Meadowgate Works
    Thank you, very helpful!
    Quick question: I bought a Foxwell NT510Elite scanner and the manual says the new battery must be of the same type & capacity as the original, but I see you registered (in your video) a different spec battery with the same scanner.
    In my case, I have SSB 49ext(not sure if it is AGM) and now replacing it with Interstate H8(49) (AGM), the "CA" and most likely the "aH" rating are different and the type (AGM) as well.
    I want to confirm if this(Foxwell NT510Elite) scanner is suitable to perform the registration?
    Also, in your video under the option#2 Register Battery exchange screen:
    Do I need to execute both the options #2 (High/lower capacity) & #3 (change for normal leadacid battery to AGM) considering my situation or just #2 is good enough ?
    Thank you for your support and help.

      Let me do some checking but I would think both options if possible

      @MeadowgateWorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you should be able to register with the scanner I used and yes perform both option 2 and 3 but you can can’t at the same time so perform registration with option 2 then do it one more time with option 3.

       @Meadowgate Works I registered it successfully. I perform both options 2 & 3 one after the other, both were executed. The code it picks up before the final step in both cases are same, Iam thinking option#2 alone is good to register higher/lower + Acid to AGM battery changes, not sure why Foxwell scanner has 2 separate options.
      Anyhow it was a good exp altogether, again thanks @Meadowgate Works!

    I'm trying to replace the battery on my 2010 BMW X3 im using a Foxwell NT510
    And it's not showing one of the steps you're showing on the video voltage supply 🤔

    • @MeadowgateWorks

      Does it have power supply option instead of voltage supply, sometimes not all 510’s are 100% same

    i don’t know what kind of battery i need i went to a shop and they ripped me off saying you need a different battery it’s not the right one but can’t tell me what battery i need i got a 2009 328i e90 bmw what battery do i need

    • @brennon7146
      @brennon7146 ปีที่แล้ว

      and i put the new battery in while doing this right?

    • @MeadowgateWorks
      @MeadowgateWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a car manual, in it you can find what kind you need. It should tell you
      voltage which is 12v,
      CCA (cold cranking amp) which should be about 900.
      RC (reserve capacity) which should be about 160.
      A (amperage), which should be about 900.
      Ah(amp hour) which should be about 90.
      Also physical size of the battery on bmw most times is bigger than most cars, but you can see that just by looking at it. Autozone or any main stream auto parts store should be able to get you one based on the specs from the manual.

    • @MeadowgateWorks
      @MeadowgateWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Also if you go to autozone.com as soon as you are on the website, at the top it will have option to add your vehicle. Enter year, model, make and what ever else they need. Then in search bar type in battery, search, and it should give you couple of options. Now you can compare these options and specs with specs in your manual.
      If you can’t figure it out, you can stop by bmw dealer and ask what exactly you need, then by it somewhere else if it’s too expensive at the dealer.
