How to replace a battery on 2009 BMW 328i Part 1

- Batteries on below BMW models have to be registered into the cars computer after installation. You can do it your self with BMW scan tool or have a dealer do it for you.

2002 and newer 7-Series E65/E66 chassis
2003 and newer 6-Series E63/E64 chassis
2004 and newer 5-Series E60/E61 chassis
2005 and newer X5 E53 chassis with N62 engine
2006 and newer 3-Series E90/E91/E92/E93 chassis
2007 and newer X5 E70 chassis
2008 and newer X6 E71 chassis
I will respectfully add that the negative terminal should come off first and be attached last. Other than that, this is really really helpful.

Great video but one thing you forgot to mention. But maybe it's just me. I'm disabled. But lifting that battery out. That's a heavy one.

Thanks for this video. I am in the process of changing the battery in my 2008 328Xi and the red cable with the black connect came out and I don't know where it goes. Can you please tell me where this cable goes? Thanks in advance
If you go to 7:45 min in the video that is where I connect all the cables, this might help
@@MeadowgateWorks Thanks. After doing some research I believe the other end of that wire is connected to the lower part of the frame via a terminal connector. I triple checked and didn't see a washer and nut so I'm thinking the previous owner had the battery swapped out and that wire was never reconnected. I don't know if its possible for the car to run without it but there was a lot of corrosion when I went to swap out the battery.

Hi so what if that red big square thing isn’t connected what than ?
@@jaydenpulido5101 I it’s the same model car your battery will not be connected and can’t start the car, if somehow you connect the red and black cable to the battery you might start the car but still might have other electric issues.
What is the blue plug for? My BMW doesn't have one!
I believe it is IBS cable, intelligent battery sensor cable, monitors battery condition.
