But if the mind is diseased biologically through no fault of the person, then its the illness and NOT evil. I speak of diseases like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder and the like. These diseases CAN cause self harm as you said. But it can also lead people to harm others as well. You have to understand, in a sorority house when 4 people come home after you go to bed. You know all your roommates have been out and then you see a strange guy walk out, you're going to assume the person must've come home w one of your roommates and is now leaving. She'd been out partying and drinking too so she probably just thought someone came over. When she'd heard the crying she went out to see and heard a guy saying, It's okay,I'm going to help you so she probably thought her roommate was upset and had a friend consoling them already and went back to lay down. I don't think she had any idea anything terrible had happened until she got up the next morning and probably went to go ask what the drama had been the night before and came across the horror. Then, she realized what she'd heard and seen the night before was far worse than anything she imagined. There hasn't been a homicide there in 7 yrs so I'm sure loud noise, shrieks, furniture getting bumped, girls crying, unknown guys leaving late are all fairly normal occurances in an off campus sorority house on a weekend night.

@jonathantaylor6926 neighbors security cam only picked up a single brief shriek and 1 thump. Noone was shrieking horrific shrieks to be heard. He was mostly ambushing ppl post drinking as they fell asleep in their beds. If he was silencing them quickly or holding pillows over faces or something then there wouldn't be primal screaming being heard by anyone. The roommate said she thought thr commotion was Kaylee playing w her dog the thumping and bumping etc. I think maybe you're visualizing the average teen slasher film scene and not the stealth attacks on sleeping people that primarily occurred. He killed all 4 and was out of there in only a few minutes.

It's crazy to see how careless a killer, going for a PHD in criminology, could be. His cell phone records indicate that he had been to king road "at least 12 times" within 3 months prior to the murders. That he left his DNA and a witness behind. I'm almost curious if he wanted to get caught. Or, if adrenaline and arrogance blinded him. This was premeditated. He saw an opportunity and took it. How scary is it to think that there are people out there who, literally, drive around looking for an easy opportunity to kill. Unfortunately and sadly, it's not the first time something like this has happened and it won't be the last. Don't be too trusting of your surroundings and invest in security cameras for your homes. I've also noticed people are really focused and questioning why the roommate didn't act to call 911 right away. Everyone processes fear differently and it's usually in an illogical manner. Fear can make people react with irrational behavior. So, I can understand how she could have backed away into her room, and likely, hid under her sheets until she fell asleep. She was petrified. Some people don't spring into fight or flight, they back away.

There was mention that maybe one of them heard some noise, but thought it was partying sounds. To have actually seen the killer in your home, to have heard your roommates being murdered, and to do absolutely NOTHING for many hours after is just unimaginable. It's not like this was a child. This is an adult who knows better. She surely had a cell phone on her and could have called for help, but chose to do nothing. We are going to need a lot more explanation on this one. I hope doing this does not provide an avenue to cause problems in jury selection, etc. A prospective juror will be asked how much he or she knows about the case, and prior knowledge of evidence may cause problems in convicting him. The thing that's wild to me is that if he was at all interested in criminology, then he would have known not to leave the knife sheath or really any items of evidence behind. The questions on Reddit about emotional states during criminal acts also suggests he had some kind of emotional tie to the victims... or was a thrill killer. Either way, my heart goes out to the families involved. Nobody should have to bury their own children in their lifetime.

Good chance that at 3am the witness, being a college girl, was intoxicated. It’s also a party house with people coming and going so she might not have been sure if this was a prank or something.

Things like this happen all the time, where the subconscious mind tries to come up with reasons not to overreact or call police. We always tend to blame it on boyfriends and girlfriends arguing or being in denial if we hear a noise. So we end up not calling police or checking what the noise was, etc. Thats most likely what happened.

Also if she was drinking/drunk, you can’t expect someone to make rational decisions. I think DM was drunk, shocked, scared and didn’t think this was a murder…especially if Moscow was a “safe town”
Also plausible she left her phone somewhere outside of her room

So one survivor was on the second floor? That’s the floor Ethan and Xana were on, right? Did crazy killer not see her? How terrifying. I wonder why he didn’t attack her? Why didn’t she cal 911 after seeing a masked man in her house and after hearing someone crying? She knew something was wrong. She even locked her door. It’s confusing.

He walked past her so he definitely saw her. And she didn't call the cops. Anybody in that situation would be worried the masked man might comeback to kill them so they would be immediately calling the cops if not for the friends but for their own life which the roomate didn't do. So did she knew he wasn't gonna harm her? If she was shocked she wouldn't need 7 hours to snap back from it. She could have called the called cops after 2-3 hours after recovering from shock. She could have texted her parents and friends yo call 911. And they called 911 saying someone's unconscious, don't tell me they didn't see the stab wounds and it was a bloody crime scene

My guess is the friend left her phone somewhere else in the house and was afraid to leave the room in fear of what she may see!
The call was probably made when she finally got the courage to investigate the situation & found the awful scene.
Can't imagine being in her situation.
