You can use a UV light to find any missed spot when applying the conformal coating, and you also need something else (I don't remember the name now) to apply on all plugs that makes the water not to go into them too.
Really nice to have a dependable drone that is designed for this specific use! Can’t wait to see how the HD and future versions of this design will look
Just do it & you'll get over that fear. I had an awesome shot line up last month and ended up taking my DJI Mini 3 Pro about 2.8 km out to sea. The video setting were terrible, so I couldn't use the shot, btw. When I turned around and saw how far out I was, and that I had like 80% battery left, it clicked in my head that I should trust my gear.
@@chrisdavisunofficial first drone flight with a dji mini 2, I had it in hawaii and was confident enough to take it over the ocean. The auto return home on low battery saved me every time I flew it though. I forget to watch the battery level
If you want to waterproof electronics, what you want is a product called LPA III made by Lawson Products. Unlike conformal coating, it penetrates into all the little cracks and pockets and then forms a waxy coating that is very durable. I used it on my scale RC trucks. Drove them through creeks and puddles, often completely submerged, and never had any damage to the electronics. Works great for boat trailers. Just spray the connectors before you connect your lights, and also works on your trailer plug. It protects against corrosion from salt water. I started using it on service trucks. They use plastic junction boxes that are hard to be sealed, and are exposed to road salt. Just spray the ring terminals and they will never corrode. Washes off with a plastic safe break clean or wax and grease remover as well, so it's not permanent. However, the coating will withstand a pressure washer. Amazing stuff. Another alternative is to dissolve bathroom grade silicone into mineral spirits. The just put it into a cheap sprits bottle, and coat anything that isn't damaged by mineral spirits. When the mineral spirits evaporates, you end up with a silicone coating. I've waterproofed all kinds of things. Just don't use it on walking surfaces, as they get slippery when wet.
I just recently started watching your videos, and you have become a one of my favorite youtubers. Your videos are on a such a high level, and you helped me a lot.
When you noticed that your battery was at that point you had an opportunity to land it on dry ground, but you chose to try to get it back to you. That's why it took a bath!!!
This is pretty intriguing. I completely agree about the design of it lol. This would be great for the Canadian winters we get and let me actually fly in the winter without having to trust my own conformal coating job lol
I believe Darwin to be an underdog in the industry rn. They are coming out with quality products for their price point, and seen to be improving their products as well!
Awesome! Waiting for hd version! Here's a little crazy story. I actually crashed my original mavic air into water before I got into fpv. It was amazing. It while under water. It wouldn't fly but it did continue to record video. It took me about 10 minutes to get to the Drone in the cold water. Lol It recorded little fish swimming by. So I thought the quad was dead. Water poured out of the sd card slot, but nothing shorted out! Amazing lol! I was on vacation. Bought a 5 lb bad of rice and buried the mavic. Within one day the quad slowly came back to life. It still works perfectly lol. Amazing and lucky I believe.
I crashed my homemade drone in a pond, and it sat there overnight. No waterproofing whatsoever. I retrieved it the next day, and the only thing that never worked again was the battery. I jsut let everything dry out, The reciever worked. All the motors worked. I can't remember if the flight controller still worked...but I seem to recall that it did.
A little tip use fpv worry free instead of conformal coating it is easier and safer and use a smokestoper to test the waterproofing I remived the props then wrapped the smokestoper and battery in a plastic bag then connected it and poured water I’ve the whole drone amd it worked
I cannot understand why they would put the battery on the bottom, unless this was made to always land in water only. Just my preference and past experience. The battery being on the bottom and landing on uneven surfaces, looks like it could result in a puncture or constant wear damage from connect when landing. Anyone in fov knows there will be emergency landings or crashes.
Great video, but can you follow up with a controller review. Does it work with phones, fliggt time, what type of controller should I buy etc Ive been contemplating a swellpro Spry/3+/4, but theyre very expensive.
Hey Matt! can you please help me bind my cinebot 30 to my tx16s radio the cinebot is ELRS. i've treid CLI bind_rx on beta flight but it just says not supported can you please help?
Why is it that you should unplug the battery underwater? I'm just learning about fpv, electronics and how everything works and this puzzled me a little bit xD
My wife bought a dji mini 3 pro, and I want to build my own. my goal is to make a long range drone. so far I am leaning towards a 7" frame I think? and settled for the tbs tango 2 pro. I would like to buy the dji goggles so i can share it with my wife but not sure if this is the best approach. anyway do you have any suggestions on what to buy for a frame, esc, fc, gps, motor, props etc . thank you so much for all your help and videos it helps out newbies like me.
As far as flying underwater goes, unlike air, radio waves have a hard time traveling through water. They're sometimes called air waves for a reason. You can get it to penetrate if your gear is powerful enough but most 2.4ghz transmitters won't work through more than maybe a foot of depth
Darwinfpv make such a great innovative drones for good prices btw. anyway I have to say gopro9 footage looks SO MUCH better than any dji camera.. sory to say this DJI.. but you can learn from the gopro about color, saturation, and especially dynamic range.
Hey I realize you may not reply but I have your community to help. Do you or anyone know how to turn on the iflight logo on the bottom of ur Nazgûl5 v2. Mine haven’t ever turned on and I’m not sure how to.
Hi I am a huge fan and wanted to get started in FPV so I purchased a TinyApe pro RTF kit that did not work and they will not refund it. Do you have any suggestions of what I should do?
This is sick! Just lost my first FPV by accidentally disarming it with DJI controller. Got my tango controller now 🙏 Looking forward to but this one for sure. Feels like it would add so much confidence flying near water🦾
Neat I used to apply a few layers on my quads because it was often very misty on the morning. Basically soaked if I landed in the grass. Unsurprisingly I also crashed it into the creek/ocean that kinda surrounded the field. I was able to pull out but never really thought it was truly safe. I'm now tempted to dive through waterfalls though lol
Done this years ago with an Eachine Wizzard X220, its called Conformal coating and two 500ml pop bottles attached to each side with zip ties. Great video though.
Thanks for the video. I bought the Darwinfpv waterproof FC to build my own, (with a digital unit) but I was curious if you thought it was safe to fly this with the Hero 11 & 6s 1300mah battery with just the two floaties? DronecampsRC used all four floaties because he said it would sink with a gopro using just the two floats…?!?
@MattPochwat They now have an option on their website letting the customers know of a DJI 03 HD system that is coming soon. Are you able to review or get information on any upgrades if that may just be the camera or also components ?
I haven't heard any details about the digital version. Seems interesting though! I wonder if they'll create a cover for the whole air unit and how that would affect its ability to dissipate heat.
Matt, i'm subcribed already and your videos are really great and helpfull. Could you or anybody please help me with something? I'm about to buy my Cinewhoop and I'll use it specially for Real state (indoor and outdoor) and footages in hotels, restaurants and similars. I still can't decide Between Avata or the new Cinebot 30 with DJI O3 Air unit. Both have benefits (i guess) over the other, but i can't decide for what i want to do (exposed above) which one is the best. One of my concerns is about: 1- Stability in low speed, so the drone don't get wobbling. Is avata a better choice due to it sensor located underneath (gps matter in this case?) or i'll not miss this sensor at all flying inside a house even in low speeds? 2- As i said before, its not my main objective, but i'll need to take some images from outside to inside (specially in real state) and i have a lot of opportunities in my town for this cenario, many of them starting in coast (sometimes over the sea and with a lot of wind). Which one is a better choice to me? Cinebot30 O3 version or DJI Avata? Please somebody help me! xD Cheers from Brazil!
Hello! How do i know wich one to buy, like, elrs version 4s or 6s or tbs crossfire blablabla...hahahaha i have a dji Google 2 and the dji controller from the fpv and i really would love to see you doing a new vídeo with this versions to choose which one to buy! Thanks for all your awesome videos and reviews! U r great!!!!❤❤
Yikes lol! The exact same thing happens to me once! Luckily it was for a pool cleaning company so it was easily able to be retrieved and not in the ocean! An empty water bottle is a great idea though
Im begging the youtube algoritm because you’re videos are sooooo underrated.
You can use a UV light to find any missed spot when applying the conformal coating, and you also need something else (I don't remember the name now) to apply on all plugs that makes the water not to go into them too.
Dielectric grease
Really nice to have a dependable drone that is designed for this specific use! Can’t wait to see how the HD and future versions of this design will look
As a beginner im so afraid of water 😂
I'm not a beginner and I'm afraid of water that and getting stuck high up in trees.
I still don't think I'll be flying over water
Just do it & you'll get over that fear. I had an awesome shot line up last month and ended up taking my DJI Mini 3 Pro about 2.8 km out to sea. Good to see you back, Pochwat 👊

Finally FPV content. Been waiting for so long 🔥
When you noticed that your battery was at that point you had an opportunity to land it on dry ground, but you chose to try to get it back to you. That's why it took a bath!!!

How does your GoPro footage look so good? I've used the recommended FPV settings for the GoPro, but yours just looks so much better.
I just saw An FPV Beginner's Guide: What I Learned When Getting Started by you i wanted to check if you were still active. I got a nice surprise !
Good to see you again, bud.
Always look forward to your videos.
This is the best FPV channel. Congratulations from brazil.
7:37 gave me a good laugh 😆, great vid Matt!
I believe Darwin to be an underdog in the industry rn. They are coming out with quality products for their price point, and seen to be improving their products as well!
it's amazing that even the foam has a sponsor
I love the content just love how your straight forward on reviews and your voice is so calm it like you where meant for making these type of videos
I cracked up watching the thirds person clips of you just dropping into water. 😂
This is so exciting and this video is so excellent!
Living next to the ocean, this type of drone is on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing
Hey Matt, welcome back Bro. Thanks for the vid
Awesome! Waiting for hd version!

Pretty balanced audio mix and sick thumbnail! You just got yourself a subscriber.
I promise you dude chasing that tornado is what got me in period

Brilliant review Matt. Been watching ur vids for awhile now. Cool stuff.
A little tip use fpv worry free instead of conformal coating it is easier and safer and use a smokestoper to test the waterproofing I remived the props then wrapped the smokestoper and battery in a plastic bag then connected it and poured water I’ve the whole drone amd it worked
Funny that they did it as a pusher but your explanation makes sense! Love the crashes from the camera on the beach.
I cannot understand why they would put the battery on the bottom, unless this was made to always land in water only. Just my preference and past experience. Ive been contemplating a swellpro Spry/3+/4, but theyre very expensive.
I am a straight beginner and my fpv is flashing red three times and idk how to fix it
imagine just going to the beach and seeing a drone going into the beach and coming back up like a dolphin going up and down
man this is literally laugh out loud funny. so good!
Really Very Helpful video ☺️, Thank you bro 😊 hava a great fly👍
What batteries did he use for the quad?
Yo that lake water is extremely clear
It is really nice to watch your videos Matt. They are so well prepared!
Even if they are completely irrelevant.
I’ve already lost a drone to water so I’m nervous flying over atm. Definitely need more flight time before I attempt it again
Hey Matt! can you please help me bind my cinebot 30 to my tx16s radio the cinebot is ELRS. i've treid CLI bind_rx on beta flight but it just says not supported can you please help?
Why is it that you should unplug the battery underwater? I'm just learning about fpv, electronics and how everything works and this puzzled me a little bit xD
same always thought water + battery = short
My wife bought a dji mini 3 pro, and I want to build my own. my goal is to make a long range drone. so far I am leaning towards a 7" frame I think? and settled for the tbs tango 2 pro. 5:50 wow it instantly detected and told you the max currents of the water 😉
I have their Baby Ape; learned to fly outdoors with it. Big fan of 'em. They're trying different stuff, and they give good value for yer buck.
Not fir me tho I bought a baby ape the fc was fryed out the box I tried to return it they said no just straight up no
Hi i have been testing the drone for the last week and so far its doing well
The guy who had ducted quad in pool and took off, is there a TH-cam video of that? Thx!

Nice.. how far this set able to fly / how many minutes?
Hey I realize you may not reply but I have your community to help. Do you or anyone know how to turn on the iflight logo on the bottom of ur Nazgûl5 v2. Mine haven’t ever turned on and I’m not sure how to.
Hey dude any chance you could do a vid on cheap flight controllers u would recommend
Hi I am a huge fan and wanted to get started in FPV so I purchased a TinyApe pro RTF kit that did not work and they will not refund it. Do you have any suggestions of what I should do?
This is sick! Just lost my first FPV by accidentally disarming it with DJI controller.
Got my tango controller now 🙏
Looking forward to but this one for sure. Feels like it would add so much confidence flying near water🦾
So the motors.. exposed to water.. work fine? Are they special motors or can any motor handle water?
All motors are completely fine in water, one of the reasons people sometimes use drone motors for rc boats/submarines.
Can you use any battery?
Neat I used to apply a few layers on my quads because it was often very misty on the morning. Basically soaked if I landed in the grass. Unsurprisingly I also crashed it into the creek/ocean that kinda surrounded the field. I was able to pull out but never really thought it was truly safe.

Hello, could you please review the betafpv cetus pro and cetus w rtf kits please? thank you
the ultimate winter drone
You should check out worry free fpv, I’ve got it on all my quads and can fly underwater. It’s absolutely bullet proof
Are Eachine Wizard X220S a good drone?
how about the battery it's that waterproof?
What controler and goggles?
Wow it's been a minute since you've posted. Welcome back. Already snow in ontario
This dude really likes that jacket.
Those foam floats could be redesigned.
You could get someone with a 3D printer to make more dynamic floats
He has a 3d printer, you can see it in almost every scene showing him talking
Done this years ago with an Eachine Wizzard X220, its called Conformal coating and two 500ml pop bottles attached to each side with zip ties. Great video though.
U should risnce all electronics with distilled water after being submerge even gopros
At least you got to the shore. Mines at the bottom of the ocean
Pls do drone speed tests
Who knew crashing a drone in water looks like so much fun.
8:32 unplug the battery while under water? bro I didn't understand that part at all
Yeah it confuses me also
@@Eskey4 yeah bro, because it's 100% incorrect 😂🤣😅
Thank you so much Matt! You just reverse engineered it! I'll build one now! 😊
Some of your tiny links don't work. Might to update. Great content!
It absolutely looks like a children's toy which is the main thing turning off from buying one.
I don't get it, for $609 you get a drone where the props are going to frequently smash into the ground on landing.
I was just about to ask about the saltwater. Good to know!
I saw a drone in Swiss back in 2019 that was waterproof!
Why would it be better to unplug the battery underwater?
Hi @Matt, just curios, did you waterproof the batteries you used?
I believe the floaties are called "pontoons."
8:15 better use destilled water.. like out of your dryer, because of other minerals
dji 03 air unit
Can GoPro replace?
Can I use a standard battery? Or do you have to use a special waterproof battery?
If they can waterproof DJI O3 it would be great!
Working on it with fpv worry free😉
Hello, where can I find the drone stand on the back or what should I do to find it?
Was fun to see the drone go in & back out of the water. Awesome concept for safer water flights

fantastic this drone!! i want to learn for drive in acro mode and i would record some videos in waterfalls this is the perfect drone..
what should you do with the lipos to make them to be able to touch water?
Looks good 😮
does this are any return to base modes or fallow me modes?
How much on average these hobbyist 250g gyrocopters cost? Is it like a few hundred or a few thousand?
Great video !
so it's fine for the battery leads to get wet? Wtf???
