I've been wanting to see an update on this guy for the longest time. There just seemed to be something different about him, even compared to other child prodigies. Being a president requires no skill or IQ (see Trump), being a scientist does. He is doing greater work than he would do as president where he would be blocked by dumb politicians and their laws.
When you realize how little college students actually know, and even people much older, you realize that it wouldn't be that difficult for the majority of children if they were brought up a certain way and dedicated a certain amount of time to learning that there would be many more children in this same situation.

A girlfriend???
@@Jo-pu8do pretty sure the average guy doesn't have that too
@@meggie19 How do you know he has the same religious convictions now that he did as a 10 year old? At 10, I was a Christian. I began questioning and rejected organized religion as a teen as many people do. I think it's likely he did the same.
A true Prodigy, just amazing I’d love to read his book or watch a biopic 😍
His mother was the true genius of the family. Not only was she Greg's chaperone and personal assistant in college, she was also a great cheerleader and dancer.
How do you know her mom was a cheerleader & dancer?
Very sweet person. Weird to be smarter than pretty much everyone and still love people.
I really love the way he talks. Very articulate. Very clear. Very modest.
Who else just came from the vid of him when he was 10 👀✋🤣

I've been wanting to see an update on this guy for the longest time. There just seemed to be something different about him, even compared to other child prodigies. I thought Oprah would end up having the same sort of friendship with him that she had with Mattie Steponick. She said she'd have him on the show every year, but only had him on, like twice I think. Whatever happened with that? Maybe he didn't want to go on the show all the time? I wonder if he's ever had any neuroscientist interested in studying him to see what they could find out about his unusual learning abilities? Wouldn't it be the ultimate irony if the genetic phenomena he studies is actually the explanation for his genius?
I remember watching his interview LIVE twice when it aired on Oprah Winfrey several years ago. I was in high school at the time. I always wanted to know what happened to him, but it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up being a main player in stopping the Coronavirus. People laugh at that idea, but why is that hard to believe? Do you know if he has a website nowadays?
I just read he died of a heart disease, his name is Mattie Stepanek
@@kr1221E Wrongggggggggggggggggg
@@kr1221E His name is Gregory R. Smith...
@@ericsesame6321 they're legit talking about someone else whom the op had mentioned
This young man is one of the Millennials. The young people who will guide our nation into such a bright future. Granted, he is an exceptional case but he shares that broader global mindset - sees the world as his backyard and understands a better world makes it better for everyone. I'm excited to see our young adults developing and growing. I'm excited when I hear their voices ringing out. They've seen how badly my, and my parents, generations have hurt this world. They understand we are one world and will only ever have one world. They understand this planet is fragile and must be cared for.
Yes, I'm excited when I see a young person such as this giving his talented all to create a better world for others.
Thank you Oprah for highlighting this young man. Thank you Greg Smith for all you're doing now and will do throughout your lifetime. You are one of our brightest shining stats of hope.
Oprah, you've always been one of those bright shining stars of hope.
Zoe Emiko Thank you so much for this, it made me so very happy. It is rare to hear someone speak kindly about my generation, especially these days.
Dewi Lew sake
Isn't he Gen X? He's at or near 40 now.
Coriolis
He’s 31, definitely a millennial.
@@zain4019 My bad, he looks older to me.
So pretty much he's just a great guy all around. This makes me so happy
he speaks so eloquently. i could listen to him for hours
He’s very humble on top of his intelligence MashAllah. Great qualities to have in one person
I'm slightly sad when he was a kid he wanted to be our president but now he's a scientist...can't he do both? We could really use a super smart president.
Hah, nah.
xWinterWolfx7 it would be a waste of 4yrs of his life. He’s doesn’t pass laws or create them lol. That’s what Congress is for . The president can only veto or focus on passing laws
He said he wanted to be president at 40-50
xWinterWolfx7 Lmao we sure could he could have beat Trump at ten. He actually has morals and respect for everyone not just people that are the same as him.
Being a president requires no skill or IQ (see Trump), being a scientist does. He is doing greater work than he would do as president where he would be blocked by dumb politicians and their laws.
A very impressive young man!!
A lot of these “gifted” kids end up being burned out by the time they reach adulthood. So happy to see Greg so well adjusted.
There’s always light in his eyes and it always shines like stars.
Imagine if this guy started teaching he was ur professor. Soooo lit
Oprah your hair is EVERYTHING!
When you realize how little college students actually know, and even people much older, you realize that it wouldn't be that difficult for the majority of children if they were brought up a certain way and dedicated a certain amount of time to learning that there would be many more children in this same situation.
I think about this too, I don’t think it needs to be done but I could definitely see how even normally smart students(not just geniuses) could advance through school/grades quickly like how he did
My parents took me out of school and "homeschooled me" after grade 4. I went to college years later with basically the same amount of knowledge but it wasnt a challenge really. So I agree with you but I think most children just want a childhood.
- Simplicity True, I wouldn’t want to speed up someone’s childhood
I admire intelligence and brilliance in a person. This young is obviously gifted with enormous talent and fine manners. I wish you all the best. God bless.
Wow, he grew up so handsome and humble, im sure his parents are proud. His parents did a great job with balancing, wow im happy for him!!
I am 44 with no degrees. I will be going to college soon to rectify that. Pursuing a degree in Computer Science.
