Should have separated the shingles with a flat bar remove the nail caulk between shingles and press the old shingle down on caulking that way you don't have black spots all over the roof
@@bubbsy2002 I did watch the whole video. I've been a roofer for decades, sometimes the customers just want the leak fixed and dont have a budget for a whole new roof. For example i take care of multiple rental properties for some very tight rental owners. They will push the roof till the very end of its life. Someone has to roof it at that point and because I've already repaired the roof and made that money, the customer and I have formed a relationship, and I'm usually the one to replace the roof, a win win 🏆.
@@marcmiller789 You cannot repair that roof the way you said, because each section has to be redone, flashing, valley’s, and shingles etc. Maybe you don’t charge much. I quit roofing when I was teen because there was no safety back then, almost slid off high steeple roof while stripping multiple layers of shingles including wood shingles.
Nails expand and contract from temperature and some eventually work their way out of the hole up thru the shingle. Just remove the nail and patch from under the shingle sticking it to the one underneath with out smearing tar all over the place. This roof had way more problems than a few nails left in during the strip off.
it is very hard to inspect roof work. Especially, like me 65 year old. I could not climb up my bungalow let alone, if the house is two floor. Then you have to hire someone to climb up. Roofer can be a scam. This is what happen to me.
There are plenty of roofers who think it's all right to have exposed nails and that caulking is just fine. I, however, agree with you: people are stupid.
recently had a crew put on new shingles here in san antonio, after listening to them beating for days and seeing other fuckups, i had to run them off. it would be worth a trlp here to see this nightmare, go in the attic, they beat so hard the deck is splintered in dozens of places that you can see, windows broken, etc, left rotted rafter ends,
This is exactly what happen to my roof. When there is a small shower nothing happen. if the rain last longer that 3 hours or so, then the leak will happen. Or if the roof collect amount or ice.
yes... when i turn on my camera.. at 3 seconds.. as i show the roof shingles.. look how crooked the lines are..lol.. there was no care on this roof and he spent alot of money on this roof only 2 years ago..
That's sad really You hire someone thinking they will save you from future problems and they end up making things worse. I wonder if she could sue them? Either way, wasted time, and money.
Looks like my roof because my roof has been through a couple of storms and hurricane,s and havy rain and he'll storms and the roofing company had put my roof on wrong because i had a license pro roofer inspect my room and he was right because everything it rains havy it Ieak,s down into one of the valley,s people like that outhere scamming people just to make a a quick buck and the people they have working for them e that,s not educated enough and license to do roof work nees to put in jail and band for working in the future of roofing and construction business.
Thanks for this video I'm thing through the same thing. We had Lots of rain and now we are seeing tons of waters spots. Now I know what to try next.

That roof can absolutely be repaired. I own a roofing company.

Make sure you are hiring an honest roofer. I'm dealing with the same thing now on my roof.

Pulled out two nails slightly popping out. First storm= roof leak then through kitchen.
Did you replace them? Caulk the holes of the old ones? Did you get a resolution? :)

People take the low bid. But taking the high bid is no guarantee.
