      It can be done quite easily but its a permanent fix... You have to cut out the horizontal slots to make it fit and sit close enough to the MB that there's plenty of gpu airflow... Mine looks sweet I must say... I fabricated a gpu support bracket also... Sprayed it black, Sorted 👍

    yours is the only video that shows the measurable difference, and for that I am grateful
    I currently have a liquid cooled GPU so don't suffer from lack of airflow penalty from mounting the card vertically, but I will return the card soon and get a standard air cooled one so the timing of this video is perfect
    I am so used to vertically mounting the GPU so I'll buy one of those vertical gpu brackets that allow the gpu to be mounted further away from the glass, so it's a win win for aesthetics and no penalty to air cooling

    Great video man, I was thinking about doing a vertical mount in my 4000d but after this video I think I will just stick with the standard layout, I would be okay with it if it was only a couple degrees here and there but that's a pretty decent jump. I have 4 fans in this same case as exhaust (3 top and 1 rear) and the AIO is mounted on the side, i believe its setup to push air through the rad, so it would be intake, as well as the front 3 as intake pushing cold air through the case....

    Another issue with some setups is that you can have a very intensive GPU application that barely uses the CPU and the intake fans won't spool up to increase airflow into the case (nor will the exhaust fans spool up). An example would be a simple installation of some fans to the motherboard header and the BIOS only allowing for fan speed curves base on CPU or motherboard temperatures.
    What would be nice is if the case had an air intake from the bottom, blowing at the GPU. Maybe a fan towards the front with funneling of the air towards the fan side of the GPU.

  • @davidhamilton8108

    I think the temps would be much better if you mounted the GPU with an after market vertical mount like the Cooler Master. It sits the GPU much further back from the side panel.

    You have a positive pressure in your case meaning the heat will linger in the case for longer. I prefer a negative pressure which is like a vaccum, sucking hot air out quickly. The only downside of more fans pushing air out i.e. negative pressure is more dust.

    • @nmmrg
      @nmmrg 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fans don't generate air, they only move it. Your exhaust potential is reliant on your intake so it doesn't make it expel heat out more quickly in a negative pressure setup. If you had only exhaust fans, the only amount of air you would be able to push out would be the amount you suck in through cracks and crevices. That's why neutral or slightly positive moves the most air. You would only want negative pressure in very specific case setups where you have large openings and they happen to be away from the fans so you don't get instant cycling.

    Very interesting... I noticed basically no increase at all mounting my EVGA 1080 Ti in my new 5000D vertically. At full throttle I'm peaking at 68C and that's with a healthy overclock. Must just be the smaller physical size of the GPU allowing for more distance from the glass and therefore better cooling.

    Try mounting the aio rad on the back side of the 3 front fans and turn the 3 side mounted fans around. Those fans will draw the hot air coming off the rad directly back out of the case. You can then mount 3 fans on the top with airflow moving out of the case. You get to have great air movement and all your fans are support brace facing out for a much better look.

    • @Liono-07
      @Liono-07 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Doesn't that create a very large negative pressure? Seven fans taking out air and only three putting in... In addition to the fact that the air that enters through the front is automatically captured by those on the side.

    Its a shame there is only room for a 2 slot GPU. The only solution in corsair cases to mount a 4090 on a riser is to use a non-corsair riser and have it completely inside the case and the video cables ran through the PCI slots in the back...

    The thing people need to understand with airflow is that you need to basically pull more air (hot)out of the case than you do pushing air in. You have more air coming in than what is going out, if you have a 10 fan system you need to make sure that 6 need to be exhausting while the other 4 are pulling in air. Cases have plenty of vent holes all over the place that can help force air in by exhausting more air out,negative pressure is the term. Use software to balance each setup. I.e intake and outtake. Control all 6 to 1 fan header (controller)and the other 4 to another fan header. Yes the cpu aio is controlled on its own header, if it was me I'd add to this header for other 3 or 4 exhaust fans so when the cpu aio is exhausting so are the others equally to this. You'll get far better temps doing this.

    Hey man! Great video! I was wondering if you could answer a question of mine. I got my omen 45L around 6 months ago and I recently put it under my desk (I KNOW ITS BAD FOR TEMPS) but I have a 3070 and I was wondering if there is any way to get better airflow under my desk. I can really feel the heat when I am sitting down and I doesn’t bother me but I’m sure it’s not good for the cpu. I stay around 55-65 on small load and 65-80 on high load. I also wanted to ask you if you know if the omen 45L can have a vertical mount attached because I LOVE THE WAY THEY LOOK. Could you let me know your thoughts. One last thing is how do I know what kind of psu cables I need to get because I don’t like the stock cables and I really wanted to get a new cable for Gpu and motherboard!!! Thanks 😊

    I have a 4.0 amd mb and use a riser cable 3 and it works fine on amd mb. All it does is limit you from bandwidth you would get from the pcie 4.0 lane if the 30 gpu was directly connected since riser 4 cables aren’t that commercially available atm. Not a real problem unless you need that extra bandwidth. Really the only solution to SLI two 3090s if your MB lanes aren’t space for 4Slot which in my case I was the issue and the only real solution to be able to achieve that.

I've got the Corsair 7000D, so the big brother of yours.. loaded with combination fo 120mm intake fans and 140mm exhaust fans in similar set up as you in terms of intake and exhaust ..I'm using a ASUS Maximus Hero MoBo... The first slot is 4090 Founders Edition (3 slots wide)... 2nd slot (which sits at position 4) is the Hyper M.2 card with two SSD's .. there is about a 2mm space between both cards... blocking off a bit of the first fan on the 4090FE... assuming amazing airflow in the case, will this work? or is that 2mm not enough space for the GPU? I Asked Nvidia, and they seem to think if I have good airflow, it will work.. thoughts? Should I do a vertical mount or just go with it?

    I have the 4000D Airflow with the Suprim 3070, with B550 and Ryzen 7 5800x, so there is also the gen 4 consideration with the riser cable.
    I too would be extremely interested in vertically mounting it for the looks, but the best bet would probably be a vertical bracket which can be mounted closer to the motherboard in place of the other PCIe slots the GPU would otherwise sit in.
    Unfortunately I have a 360 mm front rad, which would not give me enough clearance anyway with a solution like that. So, as nice as it looks, probably not a viable option for me either. I like to see my GPU sit at around 64 degrees.

    Does your gpu blow all its hot air out of its side??
    I got a zotax 2070 super amp extreme something
    I have noticed that it blows all of its hot air out of its side, hitting the glass, where some of it gets sucked back into the gpu fans.
    I was thinking of getting the cooler master or cablemod vertical mounts since those sit a bit further from the glass.
    (got 3 intake fans in the front, 2 at the top)
    My gpu runs at a 76 c or 72 c in most games, removing the side panel gave room for the hot air to escape instead of getting sucked back in, it dropped to 56~ 60c, but then again it is an open case.
    But in theory having it vertical(and not sticking into the glass) will allow the hot air to go straight up to the top exhaust fans instead of recirculation.
    So far i couldn't find someone with my issue, and getting a benefit from vertical mount, guess imma have to find out myself

    I mean its a mount that has the GPU against the glass, which is horrible and obviously intended for GPUs with a waterblock where it wont matter how close to the glass it is. Why not use something like the Cooler Master Universal GPU bracket V2 which pushes the GPU all the way back close to the Mobo and gives the GPU enough breathing room for air from the front intakes to do there thing. I heard when you mentioned it and i really think you should have done a follow up video to compare the temperatures for all to see with a better bracket for Air cooled cards.
