Thanks for helping spend my money, Sam! Honestly, I had been looking for something like this for some time. I did invest in a 4Kw dual fuel generator, but it's as much for home backup as anything else. It won't run the big AC on top of the Class C, but for charging batteries and power stations it's great. It's especially useful here in the NE where sunshine isn't so plentiful at times. You get a gold medal! 🏅
Thanks for the video, really impressive that tiny Gen, looks like a suitcase, I guess that kind of little generator sips the gas and last a long time. Can’t wait to see your A/C modifications video to use the little generator.
I bought my first Sportsman's about 4 years ago... haven't used it a lot but it always starts right up when I need it ! Back in May, 2024 I saw an ad at Tractor Supply for one for $149.00... I couldn't resist ! 1000W INVERTER GASOLINE GENERATOR, SKU# 1694825, Quantity: 1 Price: $149.99 Subtotal: $149.99 Fantastic little Inverter Generator !
Thanks for getting this information out there. I have had a Honda 2000 for more than a decade, and it was a real lifesaver a time or two when the power was out at home for days in the winter. I have never taken it camping, though, because it is pretty heavy for me to lug around. This is a much more realistic size. It won't run my AC, but I don't camp much when it is really hot. The Boil was an exception.
@@cherylbarrett3443 thank you very much for watching and commenting. It's a great little generator for the money and it will actually start some of the newer 5500 BTU air conditioner units and we have a workaround in our next video coming out showing how we got it to run ours
@@adventuresofthememorymakers my squaredrop has a larger Dometic roof unit. I have heard people who run it off a generator say that you can run it on a 2000 with a soft start and 2200 without. I have only tried to run it when I was plugged in.
It looks very nice. I work remotely, so my personal favorite gadget for my camper is my HomeFi hotspot. I can take it with me, stay connected, and it even fits in my pocket!
Your ideas are sound, I have thought about the same thing, the only thing that made me go with the predator 2000 was the run time and I have the ability to run more than what I need right now, keep up the good work. Enjoy
I recently purchased this same model generator for the same reasons that you did. I have a 5K BTU cheapest at the big box store window air conditioner unit, and my generator will easily power it. I am curious about your mod and look forward to your video. Nice job, I always enjoy your content!
@@jeffeckelberry thank you for taking the time to watch and I appreciate the comment. I'm curious what model of air conditioner you have? I've read where some of the newer ones are designed a little differently and how they start the compressor.
@@SOLDOZER just follow the instructions for the amount of oil you put in. We have had great luck with ours so far. Going to buy another one for use at our cabin in our woods.
@SOLDOZER it does a fine job of running our 20 amp lithium battery charger. It also will run our 5000 BTU air conditioner in our camper with the addition of a soft start. One thing that it will not do is large surges of power. So things that come on slowly and then ramp up to full wattage or fine but the air conditioner without the soft start just would not start. It doesn't have the power or capacity to pick up those large loads fast. If it won't run a 400 watt load there's something wrong with it and you should send it back.
I love that it takes up less room so I can buy more stuff we don’t need on our adventures.

Good video Sam. The same generator up in Canada is over $450 CDN.

Incredible price. It's nice to have a solar, battery and gas combo.

I'm needing that same thing to be able to power up a 200L when solar is doesn't work. Thanks for the review!

That’s cheap, so cheap it’s a no brained. I lm guessing you installed a soft start on the ac?
Just ordered one from TSC for $190 shipped. If it blows up I guess I will go buy a Honda.

After testing my Sportsman 1000 inverter generator, the output is 800 watts max peak 700 watts continuous.
Look in the manual and it shows the inverter as 0.7 kw and the stator as 0.8 kw.
