  • In this video I show you exactly how to start an Account Recovery through the website - iforgot.apple.com - I take you step by step and show what to click and how to begin. If you're watching this without watching my previous video you may be missing an opportunity to reset your password WITHOUT having to do Account Recovery, so it's a good idea to watch that so you can avoid the recovery process.
    Website listed is Apple's official website to begin Account Recovery:

And i can still use the device i set up the recovery process with right which is my phone just can’t use any other device that is logged in with it. Please and thank you. Great video

      Glad I could help, and don't forget to watch part 1 if you haven't because there is a chance you don't have to wait. Remember as well the way to avoid EVER being in account recovery again is to add another number or even to add another person's ID (on the 'password & security' screen) - this allows them to get a code for you to reset your password if for some reason you can't get the code yourself. It sucks going through Account Recovery but if you set it up correctly you'll never have to deal with it again!

      @@elainejoymateo3117 It depends, the first day you start the process it can take 24 hours for the email to show up, but the email is not important. All the email tells you is how long it takes for the account recovery to finish so the time can vary. The longest I've seen is 28 days but that's worst case scenario, usually it can take 4 to 14 days for most people.

Once you're in then you want to go to Settings - Name - Password & Security - and then click on Trusted Numbers, then you can put in your new number and I strongly encourage you to put in a family or friend's number as well. Hi! I just want to ask something. I'm currently have to wait 2 weeks for account recovery. I only have 1 device (an iphone) and i can't access into it because i forgot my password. So that's why i'm starting account recovery. I'm using an android right now. So after 2 weeks apple will send text when my account is ready to recover. Since i cannnot access into my iphone, can i recover it using my android or i need help from my family's apple devices? Hope you can answer me. Thank you.

    • @rattleheadtech847
      @rattleheadtech847  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Everything hinges on what device (phone number) you gave to where the text will be sent. In order to do account recovery you had to put in a number you can be reached at so THAT is the device the the text will go to. Once the text shows up you simply click the link (don't wait it will expire) and you'll get to make a new password. Remember as well the ONLY reason you're in this situation is you never set up another trusted number so once you're back in your phone you can add another trusted number or even another Apple ID (friend or family) that can receive that code if something happens to your phone/number. So the good news is if you set this up correctly next time you will NEVER be in this situation again! Hope this helps!

      @rattleheadtech847  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, so you have unfortunately had the most common thing happen to you when folks get a new phone and end up getting a new number. So there is nothing you can do but wait for the Account Recovery to finish. Now my guess is you won't have to wait really long because you know some of the info you needed so that should cut down on the wait time. The main thing though is once you get into your new phone and can use your ID make sure you set up another phone number as a trusted number. Using another number as a trusted number (as well as your own) does NOT give them access to your info, but simply allows them to get a code when you're in this kind of situation, but if you don't set it up in advance (which you didn't) then you have to wait. The good news is you don't ever have to be in this situation again! You learned your lesson and now will add another number! Hope this helps, and don't worry, you'll get all your stuff back.

    • @rattleheadtech847

      Unfortunately no, but to be honest with you I would strongly not recommend having the phone repaired. If the battery has an issue where you're saying 'liquid' is involved, presumably from the battery then the damage to the phone is not worth the repair. You would be better off to buy a new one, and this time make sure you save your information for ID and password. As to your specific question though the answer is 'no', Account Recovery would be your only option to get your password back and you'll have to know your Apple ID in order to do it.

    • @rattleheadtech847

      Once the Recovery is complete you should receive a text message, the link is good for 3 hours, you click the link and it takes you immediately to the website to make a new password. Once you make the new password you are good to go, so you don't need to go to the website 'iforgot...', that site is only to start recovery if you can't do it on your device to start with.

      It depends on exactly what you mean. I'd need to know if your account has 'secondary authentication' or 'two-factor authentication'. The reason that's important is that will determine how you can reset your password. If it's 'secondary' then your only option is to answer your security questions or get your recovery email sent to the gmail account you implied you have. If it's 'two-factor' then you can do Account Recovery, no email is needed for that. But it also might be that you've got Activation Lock on a device and you need the password to remove it. If that's the case then I have a video about 'Activation Lock' and the steps to take to have it removed, so if that's your issue I suggest you watch it and follow those steps. So if you have more detail on what you need help with I'll try to help guide you more.

      What I think should be done is when you buy a new product it should really enforce and remind you to add in another trusted device. Account Recovery is the biggest issue that faces most customers but if you do follow the steps correctly to add in another device that can receive the verification codes then at least you'll never be in this situation again!

      A password reset, if done with Account Recovery, resets the phone, if you follow the steps. You need to watch the first video again, you commented on Video Part 2 so I'm hoping you didn't view Part 1 because if you do then it might make more sense on what you'll need to do. If you check the email that was sent to you it should say, or you can just go back to iforgot.apple.com and (don't panic) start the process again - you won't actually restart the Account Recovery process but instead once you fill out the info to start, your ID, trusted #, then the next page will then tell you exactly when the time will be up and should tell you exactly when it will be sent. Remember, that link is only good for 3 hours so stay on top of it, at least that's the way it used to be and I'm not sure if it still is but I still always emphasize to do it as soon as the link comes in.

      I understand your frustration, but it honestly sounds like your situation might be different than just an Account Recovery. Account Recovery is only to reset a password but if your account is not active then there's no way to reset the password. If you've disabled your account or deleted it then you'd need to take other steps to get your account back. Hopefully it was just deactivated. I would honestly suggest first contacting Apple Support to verify if you're eligible to do Account Recovery or if your account was deactivated. Call them at 1-800-692-7753 - www.apple.com/contact/ - this is their official webpage for their numbers - I would try to give more advice here for you but I'm not sure exactly the situation with your account so hopefully an Apple Advisor can give you more detail.

So once you guys get back in to the account and reset his password then make sure you've watched the section of the video that shows you how to add a trusted number. Since the sim was in the stolen phone, couldn’t really get into it. Did not have a trusted phone number as you explained in part 1. Long short story the people from apple suggested account recovery.
    However, after a few days my company got me a new sim card with the same number my apple id was assigned with. Since it s a new sim, the people who got my phone do not have access to it anymore.
    My question is, is it still worth waiting for account recovery ( I have to wait 8 more days till they send a text on a trusted phone I provided) or is there any way to cancel the request? Should I try now to log in into my apple id that I got my old phone number back and there s no threats anymore? I hope it makes sense what I m trying to say.

    • @rattleheadtech847

      You mentioned two different passwords but I'm not sure you meant to. Your Mac password could be reset but you'll want to contact Apple Support to have them help you do that, because it'll save you from having to explain it all here. However, if you simply mean your Apple password for your account and that's the same account you're using on your phone and Mac then that's the same thing and is able to reset when you finish Account Recovery. Once that is reset then you can turn off 'Find My' on any of your devices (Find My = Activation Lock). So my gut tells me you just need to wait until your Apple ID password is reset using Account Recovery and once that's done then you're good to go to turn off anything you need to. Don't be nervous!

      If you forgot your Mac password that's different, you need to contact Apple Support and have them help guide you through the process to reset the Mac password. What you could do is get your Apple ID password, then turn off Activation Lock on the Mac through icloud.com/find - then you would need to erase the Mac and set it up again, but the better option is to contact Apple Support to help you reset the Mac password itself.

    • @rattleheadtech847
      @rattleheadtech847  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're not going to have a choice, you need to know the Apple ID and you'll need to know the trusted phone number of that account to do the Account Recovery. It sounds like you won't be able to do this, so you really only have two options. One is to get the original receipt from the owner in order to do the Activation Lock removal (I have a video for this as well), or your second option is to get your money back from the person who sold it to you. I hope you have a way to do either because those are going to be your only choices. The rule of thumb whenever you buy an iphone from a seller, and not a store, is to make sure when you buy it that you see the phone is not locked. A lot of people will steal iPhones and sell them to unsuspecting folks, so if that's what happened I'm sorry but you'd be out of luck.

      If you forgot your passcode then that is a separate issue. I have a video up about forgetting your passcode so be sure to watch it b/c it depends on which version of software you're using. If you've started the Account Recovery then that means whatever ID you put in to start the recovery that is the ID. So if you now go back to the Account Recovery page, iforgot.apple.com, and you act as though you're starting the recovery again - don't panic, this won't restart your Account Recovery - once you put your ID back into the page then the next screen will now give you an update on when the recovery will finish. You may want to rewatch the video so this makes sense because basically once you start the recovery you get an email telling you the details but if for some reason you can't get that email because you don't have access to the email account you can still get the same information by going back to the website I discussed above and you'll get the information there.

      When you fill out the account recovery you can put in the android number, once the account recovery is done then Apple sends a text message to that number - that text has a link inside of it you click on, it takes you to a website to create the new password. So all you want is the text message and it doesn't matter if it's an iPhone or something else.

I have 10 days left and I just decided to turn off my ipad that is using my apple account. Btw my iphone is the one that is locked. Will apple be extending the days or suspending my apple account if it detects that other device used my account for almost a week while on the process? Yes, you MUST turn off the iPad, because the system has no way of knowing you don't have the ability to reset the password using the iPad. This is a safety feature that prevents someone from stealing your ID by doing their own Account Recovery. So there's a good chance the recovery has already cancelled, so as quickly as you can turn off the iPad and don't turn it back on. If you have to start over then now you at least understand why it has to be off.

You will have to get all the information and there's no way around it. I hope you can get back in, you might contact your previous phone carrier to see if they can tell you your old phone number, or a friend or family member who would have saved it as your contact.

    • @rattleheadtech847

      Hey Kayden, I know 100% what the problem is. You MUST have another device that has your ID on it, whether it's an Apple Watch, or iPad, or whatever. So the problem is that when you start the Recovery the system automatically is detecting your other device and it 'thinks' that you can reset the password on that device which obviously you can't for whatever reason. So what you have to do is turn OFF all your devices except the phone if it's the phone you started the recovery on. You might need to watch Part 1 of the Account Recovery process to understand it better but the good news is that the problem you have is fixable you just have to turn off all the devices with your ID on it (except the one you started the Recovery on) and once the time's up you're good to go. Also don't worry about the credit card, that just shortens the time but is not needed.

      @rattleheadtech847  ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like you successfully started the Account Recovery, which means you have to wait the 13 days. Once the time is up you'll get a text message to the phone number you listed that you could be contacted at, once you get it you'll click the link in the message and it will take you straight into the site to make your new password. As for your Gmail account that is completely different, you'll need to do research on how to reset a Gmail password. I don't use Gmail so I don't know the steps to use for it so I can't help you there. Don't worry about your credit card info or proof of purchase, those are not needed. The credit card will only shorten your time for example from 13 days to 7 days, and the proof of purchase is only needed if you do not have the ability to do the Account Recovery which you already have started so that's not required. You should be good to go, just have to wait for the 13 days to be up.

However, if for any reason it cancels then start the recovery on your phone, because if you do that then it's guaranteed to go through (again assuming you have no other devices, if you do then make sure those are turned off). @rattleheadtech847  ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay, from the way you're describing it I can almost guarantee that your problem is your Apple ID is appearing on more than just one device. So if you have an iPhone and iPad with the exact same ID, but you aren't able to reset your password on either, then once you start Account Recovery on your phone then you MUST turn off your iPad and it has to STAY OFF until Account Recovery is done. I know it's inconvenient but this automatic cancellation is actually a good thing because it's what would prevent someone from stealing someone else's account. For example, if an ex boyfriend wanted to get back at his ex girlfriend and knew her Apple ID and so he went to the website to start an Account Recovery to try to steal her account the system would recognize that her ID is still showing and working on her iPhone that is turned on, so it would then cancel the Account Recovery to prevent him from resetting her password and screwing her over. So that's why this procedure is in place, the downside is if you use multiple devices you must turn off the ones that you did not start the Account Recovery on. If you only have one device then make sure you do the Recovery through that device and not through a computer through the website. Hope this helps!

      If the recovery process says 13 days then you'll have to wait that time. The number you gave to them to send the code to will come to the phone with a text and a link, click the link when you get it, you'll make a new password, and you'll get back in!

The only way around it is if you have access to another device that has your ID on it, I would recommend you watch Part 1 of my video on Account Recovery to see if you have a way around it. I started the recovery process, and it says I will be able to in 27 days. I should get the text or call on my new number since I don't have access to the old one.
    My question is, does this link always include just a straight up password reset page, or can it also be some security questions, etc.

    • @rattleheadtech847
      @rattleheadtech847  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will always be the password reset. The reason is because you are using 'Two Factor' Authentication and security questions are only used for 'Secondary Authentication'. There's no option to choose questions at this point, and to be honest it's actually better this way. It's better because if you're using Two Factor to do Account Recovery then it makes nearly impossible for someone to steal your ID or information, whereas if you used Secondary then anyone who got your password could sign in to your ID. I would also suggest you watch Account Recovery Part 1 to understand Account Recovery a bit more and also my video on Two Factor Authentication to understand it a bit better as well. The main problem you have though is you don't have your trusted number anymore but the good news is EVEN IF you lose access to your trusted number in the future you can avoid this situation if you simply add in another trusted number or you can even add in someone else's Apple ID as a trusted person, so that if something like this happens again the code you need can be sent to them. It doesn't give them access to your information at all, it simply allows Apple to send them the code you need, they get the code then give it to you and BAM you change your password and no Account Recovery needed. So there's ways to avoid this in the future so make sure you set yourself up for success by doing this and I cover this in these other videos. Hope this helps!

      @@rattleheadtech847 Thank you for a fast and extensive response. So basically I shouldn't have any problems reseting the password, I'll get the text in 27 days on my new number and that's it right? No further questions, or codes?

      @rattleheadtech847  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@daniloz5673 Correct, you'll get the text, as long as you put in your new phone number as the number to receive that text. It'll be a link, you click it and it takes you straight to the website and you'll make your new password. BUT BE WARNED! No where does it tell you the one thing that's the most important that I mention in the video, that link is only good for a few hours!!! So the moment you get it make sure you click the link and reset the password because if you wait too long you'll start all over again. So make sure not to wait!

      @@bilquisabdullah5720 Okay, so you know your Apple ID so you wouldn't have gotten that far without it. So if you have the new trusted #, your ID, then follow the steps in Part 1 of my video or just skip to the steps in Part 2. It sounds like you have to do the Account Recovery again but maybe it's not needed. If you do the recovery again make sure you select the option to receive the text. Hai sir I know this video was uploaded at 2 years ago But, Today I need a help relating to this. So actually the problem is One day with wet hands I tried to unlock my I phone 8 plus but it does not recognized my fingerprints coz of wet fingers So it shows like I phone is unable for 1 min. For my fate I did not remember my passcode also so I recovered my phone using I tunes then it shows like A new I phone after recovery. Then after setting up the instructions it again shows I phone is unlocked to owner To unlock Enter your Apple ID and Password. In this case also I did'nt know my Password. So after 24hrs they sent me a link to trusted number which I provided. After 24hrs Apple sent me mail that saying You will be able to reset your password after 27 days. When it’s time to reset your password, we will send instructions to my trusted number. Will they sent link. Please say something about this. Thank you sir, have a nice day.

      It sounds like you are going to get the link to unlock your phone but you will have to wait. You put in a trusted number so when it's time the text will go to the trusted phone number with a link for you to click, once you click the link it will take you to a page to reset your password. Once you reset your password type that new password into your phone with your ID and you'll get back in. You'll just have to wait unfortunately.
