You’re right that’s what the manufacturer says to do, although a BMW tech friend of mine says he uses lube on some seals no matter what the manufacturer says, IDK🤷🏻♂️
@@rebuildrevival - Waaau! Here in Slovakia (somewhere in the middle of Europe) we will pay 20K for used BMW, even in that state you got it originally. Amazing prices for used cars in US ;-)
@@rebuildrevival Sorry, correction - I checked exact model, year, mileage...and it's 8000 Euro, not 20.000 as I mentioned before. Anyway...1000 USD VS 8000 Euro.. :-) I'm watching a lot of US/UK car rebuilds (maily from auctions, Copart) and I'm always surprised how cheap you in US can get it! Amazing work on your car, appreciate your sense for details ;-)
You can tell that modern cars are not built to last. Look at that tranny! You have like 10 different fail points in that unit alone! All flimsy plastic and rubber and the amount of work you have to put into it to service it is insane, and that's why it's pretty expensive to take your car to a dealer or a mechanic if you don't have the tools to do it yourself or you don't know how to do it. Many modern cars end up in junkyards due to things that are "cheap" to fix, but pretty time consuming or expensive if you don't know how to do it yourself.
Hey, I was having a hard downshift from 2-1. After everything I did, the problem went away but I’m unsure of which repair I did fixed the issue. Could have been as simple as a programming issue or a combination of the seals, solenoids and the programming.
Are you sure about putting oil and atf on the sealing surfaces of seals, usually these new seals are teflon and are not supposed to be oiled up because that can cause leaks?
Hey, I think you’re right that BMW does say to put them on dry. I have always lubed them up some so it’s a habit. It hasn’t leaked since reinstalling and driving for about 75 miles so I think it’s good to go!
@@rebuildrevival if it starts to leak again you know why :D , i know when i install them they come with special warning sticker do not oil before install but ok
Great detail, and patient.
I’m loving these videos!!!!!!!
Thanks, appreciate it!
Hi everyone, little update on this awesome video.

Any improvement after this repair?
What were the symptoms?
