If I remember correctly, that is a 3.5 quart fryer, and I just filled the hopper up to the line... hard to see in the video but there is are minimum and maximum fill lines in the hopper. For storage, this is the EZ Cleanmodel with storage in the fryer.... there is a little lever that you turn when it cools down and the oil drains down into a plastic storage container.
So, I am a little slow. When you finish cooking with this system and you turn the dial to the automatic filtration sign. At this point, do you keep the unit plugged in and the temperature dial at 180, with the unit in the on position or do you shut it off completely? Will it filter the oil in the off position and unplugged? Be nice
That oil filtration and storage system is a game changer. I've always been convinced that deepfryers with any half decent thermostat are pretty much identical, but these features really set the t-fal ez- clean at a level above the competition
I had owned this deep fryer for several years. Used it a lot. I was satisfied with it until it began leaking oil all over the counter and onto the floor. I sent away for a new oil catchment believing that this was the issue. It was not. After spending the money and waiting for the replacement oil container to ship from France the T-Fal continued to leak oil onto the counter and the floor. The wife was not a happy camper and glared at me with that look every husband knows quite well. So, I ended up replacing it with a Cuisinart which as it turns out is identical to the fryer I had before the T-Fal. Only it used to be a Waring Pro. I did purchase a 4 qt. stainless container with a fine mesh strainer and lid to filter the used oil and together the cost was less than the T-Fal. The bonus with my new setup is I can put cheese cloth over the strainer and get exceptionally clean oil. Something not an option with the T-Fal unit.
@TROY HENRY I bought both from Amazon. You can input "stainless steel oil container with screen filter and lid". The one I bought holds 1 gallon of oil.
Ok I just used my new t-gal EZ clean today for schnitzel, did a great job. Now I letting it cool and I noticed air bubbles coming up from the filter screen, but I’m not seeing any oil dripping. Have you noticed this?
Thanks, Kathleen! For that leak, the first thing to do is figure out where it is coming from. Is it a BIG leak (as in, will all the oil drain out over time) or is it a few drops? Is it happening while the unit is stored or just when it drains right around cooking? If it's happening during storage, maybe the oil storage lid isn't on correctly or maybe it's become cracked somehow. If it's occurring when the oil drains, make sure it is lined up correctly. Let me know!
Is the oil depth deep enough for a 2 litre oil capacity? I know other tfal fryers have 3.5 litre capacities. I don't want to have to turn over my food while fryer if oil is too shallow.
Again, great presentaion skills and I appreciate you saving the planet by using paper towels in all your cooking experiements. EZ clean outside is my choice and I'm sticking to that. cant wait to get the unit this evening. again, great review - new sub!
Hi Betty. You might like the T-Fal Odorless model... has lots less steam. Check out the video I did on it: th-cam.com/video/uGrjtmHf924/w-d-xo.html . Hey to everyone in Syracuse!
Great review. Just purchased my own easy clean. Replacing my propane fish fryer and hoping it will be a stand-up replacement. It has a smaller basket but being rectangle instead of round hoping I can get a similar amount of walleye fillets in it!
If you want, send some pics of fried walleye in it and I can put them in a Pancast. You can Tweet them @uskunclescott or look for Uncle Scott's Kitchen on Facebook.
Thank you for your excellent video review on this fryer . One item you omitted to mention and that is the kind of oil to use for best deep frying, but of course this was all about the fryer.
I just purchased the model fryer you review in this video. Well done. That said, I am MOST PLEASED with your recommendation regarding the placement of the unit under the stove canopy during its operation! I used it for the first time today and watched all that "steam" go up into the stove canopy and outside of the house. Thank you so much. Oh, the chicken was good too.
I know im randomly asking but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost my account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Esteban Lucas thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Does that oil container leak? When you were putting the oil in the machine at 7:21 oil was dripping from the top of the container not just coming out of the screw opening.
I bought this machine of the back of this video. I hate open pans with hot oil and as an induction hob owner don't like the way the pan slides. Can't wait to try chips in this x
I am new to cooking and have the same fryer my question is.. I put for example breaded fish. I put the fish in basket then lower into oil. Immediately the fish sticks to the basket breading is stuc to the basket the breading comes off fish as glued then plain fish. What am i doing wrong???? e gli
I'm looking to buy my first fryer. I'm conserned about the depth of the oil. The videos doesn't seem to show that you could submerse anything taller than about an inch. Do you think you could submerse a cut up broiler size chicken with bones?
Not exactly sure, but I think you would have to do the chicken in more than one batch. You could probably get three or four pieces of chicken in at once. Eight would be too many for one batch. When you put food in, the oil seems bubble up (for lack of a better term), so the oil level in an empty fryer looks a lot lower than a fryer with food in it.
Thanks for the video! We also have someone with an egg allergy, we are constantly trying to find non-egg recipes, I was very glad you mentioned that in your video. I recently purchased the T-Fal deep fryer, it's been great thus far. I want to make these chicken strips, but I cannot find your recipe. You mention in the video that it was posted to your website, but I can't find it on there either. Does the recipe page still exist? Thanks!
Hi Pete! I made the mistake of redesigning my website a little and forgetting that I had mentioned some pages in older videos. My fault. For those chicken tenders, depending on how many you have, you can marinate them in 3 cups buttermilk, 1/8th cup of salt and another 1/8th cup of hot sauce. You can adjust the heat and add some cayenne and black pepper too. Give them at least an hour or two to soak. Then shake them off, dredge them in some flour + salt + pepper, and fry. DEE-licious! The main thing is the buttermilk and you can adjust whatever other seasonings you want to throw in.
You can just store it inside the fryer really, as long as you keep the lid on. Depending on what you've cooked in it, it might not even be worth the hassle to clean the oil truthfully. Strain the oil if there are crumbs in it. Otherwise just take advantage of the best thing (after temp control) about a frying pan, you can put it away with the oil still in it. Liquid last 7 to 8 times, non liquid lasts a bit longer. If it changes colour or starts to fume while heating up it's time to swap that stuff out.
Wow! $90 bucks for that fryer is a really good deal. They've developed an elegant solution for what to do with the leftover oil that seems to work. I'm trying to cut down on fried food but if I weaken I'll be fighting with myself over this. Excellent video Scott but I wish I hadn't seen it.
The manufacturer says don't use an extension cord with the fryer, but the cord provided is too short to reach the wall plug from the stove top under the vent. Has anyone else had this problem?
Here are 2 suggestions to make it even better. 1. You should remove those fake applauses. 2. I noticed that through out the video, you always had the reflex of looking away from the camera lens, as if you were scared of doing a ''digital eye contact''; which at times felt like when someones doesn't want to talk to you but is forced. But otherwise, great and informative video. A very nice touch from you is that you do not try to exaggerate your facial expressions like all the other youtubers. Also, i do not know which type of flour you used, but i'd suggest you to do it half corn starch half all purpose flour and to cut your chicken a little bit thicker to have a juicier end result.
Indeed... I have no idea what happened to the sound on this video and I should probably fix it, but the way TH-cam works I would lose all of the video counts if I replace it.
Its a cool design and frys good, but the plastic container is very cheaply made. With in the week of buying it, I asked my girlfriend to clean up the tank so I could start making dinner when I got home. She didn't understand how the locking mech worked so when she picked up the unit, the plastic tray slid out of the bottom and essentially shattered on the floor, rendering it unusable, and our counters are short, so it wasn't a hard fall. Fortunately I bought it on Amazon so I can get a full refund, but I can't say I'm super thrilled about getting the same model again knowing how easy it can be broken, not too mention it cost me $20 bucks worth of high quality peanut oil I could have gotten allot more batches out of .
You dropped the hooper full oil? Holy cow I bet that was a mess. In a pinch if you are waiting on the replacement, I think you can use it without the plastic oil hopper. Compared to the other fryers I've reviewed in this price range, the T-Fal really seems like the sturdiest, believe it or not. Some of the others have metal hosings that are very very flimsy. I think All-Clad makes a higher-end version that is very very similar that might have more steel. All-Clad and T-Fal are part of the same parent company, so it's probably a high-end TFal.
@@UncleScottsKitchen exactly, the fryer itself is pretty good, I appreciate it comes with a solid steel tank instead of some weird chemical coating. It also heats up fast and maintain temperature pretty well, most other table top fryers usually can't even heat up all the way to 340 despite what the dial says, even the nozzle that connects the tank to the plastic container seems quality. Im just upset at how flimsy the plastic was, one accidental fall was all it took to break it.
I like the information in your videos, but can you please stop the annoying clapping as it distracts from info and in many cases covers up you talking. Thanks you.

I have the same issue after only 4 uses. I’ll be darned if I can figure out where the oil is coming from. 🤷♀️

How many bubbles? Just a couple of like a fish tank? If there aren't any leaks I don't think it is anything to worry about.
Have you cleaned the filter? If so, how did you cleaned it?
Is it easy to clean the filter oil box when it’s time to change out the oil?

thanks Uncle Scott, despite my wife's protests I bought one. A friend of mine says he makes churros and doughnuts with it ...... mmm doughnuts....

How do you clean oil storage?
It has a removable lid... you can just drain the oil oil and open the lid and wash them with dish soap.
@@UncleScottsKitchen thanks for info 🙏
Nice job Scott, 🙏 thank you
Thanks!
What oil do you recommend?
For deep frying in a fryer, i think vegetable or peanut oils work great!
@@UncleScottsKitchen Thank you, Scott.
My T Fal is Great, but mine does leak oil so I have to store it on a pan. How can I stop this?
Where is it leaking from? Big leak or a few drops?
How can you wash & clen the inside of the oil bin after 5 to 10 usage? Is it possible to remove the lid of the oil bin? Thanks
yes.
What flour do you use?
Excellent review.
My fist time using one... any recommendations. More recommendations for cooking chicken drumsticks
Is the T-fal the same manufacturer as Tefal?
I think they are one in the same, but maybe different spellings depending on which country you are in.
Hello! What oil do you use? Thank you
I think in this video I am using peanut. I think most any higher-smoking point oil will do.
Nice! I'll try this recipe in my carbon steel pan. 😀

HA! Your cardiologist will be happy!
How about doing a segment on fried chicken--not chicken fingers--without the Tabasco sauce or the cayenne pepper?
What do u keep looking at on either side of the camera?
That must be some involuntary thing I do when I am concentrating on trying to remember what to say. Which is difficult!

@@DanishTroll87 I must say, that I was thinking the same thing. Very well articulated indeed.
looks nice but the oil level looks awful low for such a huge container
It does indeed look low, but when it gets hot and you put the food in and it starts bubbling, it rises up quite a bit.
