What nobody seems to add into their reviews about this t-fal fryer is this. The top of the plastic oil container is not affixed so when you remove the plug and go to pour the oil into the metal pan if you slip or try to pour it too fast the top comes right off and oil flies every fu...ng place.
I've just Ordered mine. Will bear this in mind. Thanks very much for the heads up. It would be great if there was another setting that automatically punks the oil back into the pan....that would be good!
I have to say, I have watched lots of different types of review videos when I was thinking about buying whatever products and this one was great. It was something about the way you went into certain details and explained each thing and took the thing apart which I wish that other people who do reviews on other products would do a better job at. Thanks!
I have this very unit. Love it. It all works as advertised except it never actually gets to 375. Is it defective? The highest temp seems adequate I.e. the food isn’t greasy but I’d still prefer a higher temp for the second fry for French fries.
Thanks for clearing up the questions regarding when the filtration lever can be switched. Yes, it is designed to be switched when oil is still hot. You can always wait if you don't trust it. Do you refrigerate your used oil after cooking meat or fish?
I just want to add an update. My unit was purchased Feb '21 and does NOT have a temp safety drain as shown in this video. You must wait for oil to cool before filtering..instructions say Wait 3 Hrs!! As others have commented, the lower oil container is a 2 piece tub. The top is removable and as such can leak if you are not careful. Lastly..mine only reaches 355, but works great.
@@E_mailMeLater i think mine is the same size. Also be careful not to fill the fryer past the MAX mark, as that is also the max amount of oil the plastic tub can hold. Still working great and we are happy with it!
I have a question about the ultimate T-Fal deep fryer. I've been using it this entire week. Today, I just got done frying some chicken. While I was hand washing it I found some leftover crumbs and other small particle of food that got into the filter and I have no way of getting those particles out because the filter is sealed. Is there a way I can remove the crud inside my filter? Help!
The deep fryer is good so far. I've had it for three years. But now that the batteries of the timer are weak, there is a problem. The timer does not stop beeping even when the fryer is disconnected from the power supply. For days. And I cannot find a battery compartment. Why does a device that runs on AC power anyway have to have an additional battery to work properly?
Thank you for taking the time to review this product as I am looking at this one or the Waring ProDF280. Some people asked some very great questions but you have not answered any of them. Maybe you could take the time to do so. As a Recap, here are their questions as well as mine. 1} [by TomM] I see that this video was posted in October 2017, is your deep fryer still performing well? Not leaking when you are draining the oil into the oil bin? 2) [by lexwaldez] How is it with the smell inside the house? Better than pan frying or no difference? My Question would be what is the recovery time like. Meaning oil is up to temp, you place the food in and the time for it to get back up to full heat? Again, thank you for taking the time out of your life to share your thoughts and making this video on this product.
I had mine leak the first use after draining. Not sure if it was too much oil going in or if the screw plug was loose. Overall, it’s a great product though
Are you able to get your device up to 374 degrees? I was only able to measure the temperature to 362 degrees and that was only at the very top of the oil, the temperature near the bottom of the device was quite cooler than at the surface, I can't explain why that is.
Thanks for all of the info. Just placed my order for one. Replacing our little fry baby with this unit. Still trying to get an idea on the pre-heat time. The fry baby took 15 mins to heat up. If you can give me an idea on the pre--heat time let me know. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 ✌🏻
I find that emptying the plastic oil container is difficult. It is very shallow, so like carrying a tray of liquid. When you pour the oil back into the pan it is difficult to control the flow. I am not yet sure how to safely pour the old oil into a bottle to discard it.
It's basically combining the best things from a coffee filter, a deep fryer, a sink and it disassembles easily The one thing i wonder though is if the lid is helpful against the frying smell that usually haunts home frying efficionatos
In the video you're mentioning that you need to use two hands to get the basket and lid on the frying pan. However, in the oil well there is a small rectangular metal hook. On the basket there's a small metal ring. You should be able to hang the basket on this hook. The you can get the lid and put it on the frying pan. Afterwards you can lift the basket a bit and the lower it into the oil. Hope this helps to make your life easier!
he totally went over what the oil box switch does. the bottom plastic container is locked unless it is on the oil box switch which unlocks it and lets you pull it out
hi i want to ask about oil reusing after filtration for how many times or i just keep using the filtered oil until it going less then i refill it with new fresh oil
Mina Lucas it’s a personal preference thing, I’ve seen cooking web sites that say 3 times. I re-use mine until the food no longer tastes right. I don’t have a deep fryer that filters the oil. So I just scoop the bits out of mine and use it again. I’ll no doubt catch flack from the foodies on here for my lazy cleaning method lol. I’ll also catch flack for saying I’ve used the same oil 10 times. I’m a heathen or something I guess. I also leave the oil in my fryer. Yet another point the foodies will have a conniption over lol. Now, that last one might be a valid point for them I dunno if it’s just bad Etiquette or bad bad. But I’ve never had bubble guts or bathroom problems. If the oils rancid my fries or chicken taste like food from MickieDees. That’s when I know it’s time to properly dispose of my oil and start fresh lol.
Thank you for the review. I think you did a great job. perhaps you can get a tripod or something to hold the camera I would love to have seen you pour the oil in. Even with that I think you did an excellent job. Henry
thank you. I'm just deciding on a deep fryer for my little empanada business in NYC. looks good.. like the automatic temp control and of course and the clean up and filtration oil storage feature. very helpful,

@@prva9347 Not rude at all if you read the local "Household waste and recycling centre" literature. As long as the container is no larger than 3Ltrs. This amount is classed as "Domestic" anything larger will be classed as "Commercial" and should be disposed of accordingly.

Your narration gives me a Jerry Seinfeld/Howard Cosell vibe. :-) It's 4.5 years later, and I'm considering buying one. It does seem a bit big, but the frozen fish fillets I buy would require a basket this big.
that looks amazing imma get me and my mom one. for years shes been filtering the oil by hand with a siv and coffee filters 😂 oil cleanup and filtering is the worst part about deep fryingl. the only bad part is it seems to work so good id wanna fry everything. that could be deliciously dangerous 😂
Did you get one? How do you and your mom like it? I got 1 in 2019 for $94.85 off Amazon. I ended up giving it to my best friend, just because. Now that I want this unit again I see the cost is now $139. It's on sale for $114 as of the day of this comment. 🤬🤭
Stop waving your hand in front of the camera! Buy a tripod, you have the shakes. If you hold the camera still, you might actually get it to focus properly.
I wonder what that other reviewer did to burn the hole through the plastic container, plus wreck the little metal circular thing in the pan? I wonder if was in a hurry to use it, and didn't read the instructions carefully, overconfident, etc.?
I would like to introduce fried foods to my diet and was interested in purchasing this unit. The reasons I finally decided to go with another fryer (Krups KJ502D51) is due to several reasons. I see that the depth of the oil is fairly shallow and the top of the food is barely covered. This is due to the amount of oil the plastic container at the bottom can hold. I want a deep fryer, not a shallow fryer. The cost of the T-fal is quite a bit more due to the built in filtration system, which I believe will be/is its Achilles heel, in terms of long term reliability and limiting the amount of oil you can fry with. I am pretty lazy, but it does not take that much effort to filter the oil back into a container with a mesh screen. So for those reasons I will not be purchasing this fryer. I hope others find my opinion useful.

How often do you need to change the oil?
Is the oil deep enough to do battered fish?
how do you clean the filter?
You don’t need to clean the filter just wash up or stick the oil container into dish washer

When the oil is burned, do you pour it down the sink or throw it in the trash?
