This was my Manchester United of my childhood to managed by Dave Sexton we went nowhere except for 1979/80 when we gave the scouse a good run for their money in the league. Also the heartbreak of the fa Cup final v Arsenal.

I remember as a kid he was mint and watching some of these episodes confirms it .

Utd with 2 chelsea managers in a row. Sexton won 2 cups inheriting the doc’s diamonds at Chelsea then same at utd 💙

@@charlieboffin2432I was 6 or 7 but Sexton wanted Jordan over him. Think Pearson had an injury but for me looking back he was a bigger goal threat and won the Cup in 1980 with West Ham.

When they brought out the stretcher for Garner, one bloke had a cigarette in his mouth 😂
    You won't see that anymore.

At the end of the 78 Cup Final 2 Ipswich players are smoking.
Beattie is a bit subtle but Hunter is hilariously blatant.

I seen at lot of the Big Match revisited and it seems Chelsea were on like every other week in them days when the team wasn't very good. Why was that did they have some agreement with LWT or something.

There is a very good book out now, 'Brian Moore saved our Sundays'. Great read. It appears Arsenal were on the most.

@@bazza-e9t I'll have to look it up. AFC were running the show in London from 1970/73 and weren't very good again up till about 1977/78. The Big Match Revisited only seems to take shows from about 1974/75 onwards maybe it's a licensing thing

Apparently they have most of the 70s seasons but it might be an LWT thing yes.

I've never had any time for Chelsea and I have a soft spot for Wipwich. But, oh! That was the worstt game of football that I can recall.

As a leeds fan i miss the old Stamford Bridge dearly. It was a giant stadium. Now it is an utterly crap stadium.

Love how the Ipswich away tops have some with black trim yet some are dark gray.
Either 2 different sets or the boil wash has overdone it!

Disagree totally , many of the games back then were superb , great skill passing etc. Diving in its infancy , great atmospheres , proper tackling and no stupid rehearsed goal celebrations and twats with their phones out all the time and not watching the game .
I think you’re using a pudding of a pitch at Stamford Bridge as you’re yardstick
