Hi Kamon. You mentioned in this video that the blade spacer plate on your table saw allows your work piece to drop about 1/32" when you are making a cut. If you look at the plate you will see that there are 4 screws in it that you can use to level it up with. Place a straight edge across the table and adjust the screws up or down to make the plate level. Do this in both directions and your plate will be the same height as the table. No more drop equals more accurate cuts. Keep up the good work!

I always make my nuc boxes with a separate bottom board. It gives me the option to double stack which I do a lot. Just add 3 3/4" rims and screw it on if needed. Works great for me and not much added work. Love your channel

The double nuc mating box is a very handy item to have in the apiary. This coming summer I plan on building up quite a few nucs to overwinter. Another fantastic video my friend thanks for sharing.
Table saws have a way of finding me. Have 3.
One is left set up for bee box frame rests. Dado installed and ready to go..it gets really easy if you're set up right.

Great stuff Kamon, Your viewers that Don't have a dado stack and are using this method may want to make a very simple tenon jig for the fence. Also, you could make a zero clearance insert (very easy to do) for your blade, allowing you to make the insert and table top flush. Thanks again for all you do(:
Thanks from the Old timers, no thanks from the young crew. "Dad why is he not wearing ear protection and eye protection doing that???" I was like "What? Say that again I can't hear you??" Put the ear muffs / Ear inserts in Kamon, and get some safety glasses.Laurels laugh is too beautiful to be missed, and I watched my Dad ripping a board put it through the glass sliding door. Actually, now I think about it, don't worry about the ear protection, if you do that being deaf is not a bad thing LMAO

Kamon, this is my third year. In the far distant past I worked for a commercial bee keeper and only went from yard to yard adding supers, then taking them off when they were full of honey. Recently I purchased two hives and began doing bee removals. Nobody told me that West Texas wild bees may be Africanized... I've renamed them Texanized (Texanized, Don't Mess With Texas, ©️) My goal this year is to build up the hive numbers and still be the guy who saves the day in the oilfield when a hive shows up uninvited. You are the most down to earth teacher that tells it like it is that I've found! Thank you!!! I know there are a hundred ways to do it, but how am I going to do this thing!?

Bee Source has a plan for a 5 frame nuc that doesn't have too make those kinda cuts.
I use 2 6mm ply. The frame rest is shorter than the exterior ply by approximately 19mm. Vina'a

Hi Kamon, curious about why you don't just lay in the board flat and make a 3/8" deep cut at the 3/4 inch Mark and then trim away the excess using multiple passes to make your frame rest. That's generally how I do it and I don't have to make that first precarious vertical cut?
Hey Kamon I am in the process of building my own nucs for the first time.
I have a question. Why a round hole vs a rectangular cutout at the bottom like a deep super entrance? Which leads me to another question. Sorry, I guess I have two questions.
Why not project the bottom board out in front for a landing pad? Thanks for your help.

What do you do for a cover?
Good video. I don’t eye ball anymore since I’m almost blind in one eye and can’t see out of the other one. That happens when you get old. lol. With my old Craftsman I would just measure and adjust the height of my blade for both of those cuts.
Kamon, since you are using plywood for the nucs, do you think it would be good to tack in the little medal L shaped frame rest? I normally install them in most of my boxes. RTR!
They do work for sure I think I have a few lying around somewhere if I can find them perhaps I will put them on

I cut 2 nucs yesterday with my scraps. I think the scrapes are 2 decades old.
Those old scraps are now an awesome nuc!
@@kamonreynolds For my 2nd year I have ten 10 frame deep boxes, 8 supers and 7 nucs. Been busy this warmer winter building for my expansion. Hope to have 10 hives ready for 2020/21 winter. It might be a combination of 10 and 5 frame boxes. Trying grafting this spring for the 1st time. Thanks for all the great information that you shared. It's greatly appreciated. See you on 2-29.

Eye protection needs to bee on the top of your list. It's the only set you have.

OSHA safety nerd alert! They're on every page, admonishing both poster and viewer. You guys must be employed by insurance companies in real life...it's an anal compulsion to make sure you tell everybody about your safety violation observations and what must or must not be done to correct them. It would be refreshing if you'd just hush and stop trying to save everybody playing in the sandbox.
Unfortunately life happens. I only have one eye (not as a result of a bee sting), so if I lose the other one, that's it...end of the road as far as sight goes. Nothing wrong with practicing safety first.
