So since some channels have been claiming that Beyonce is a LIGHT SOPRANO (like Ariana Grande, Regine Velasquez, Kartina Velarde), this video shows Beyonce’s voice when she’s casually singing in a chesty manner. Take note, she’s not yet even being exaggeratedly chesty in these clips (unlike Demi Lovato and Christina Aguilera), yet you can already hear a “compact thickness” in her voice that contains no hollowness/fakeness. Her belts in a chesty position are also obviously NOT EFFORTLESS as you can see in the video. She’s not yet in her lowest larynx position (like what Charice and Christina Aguilera usually does), but her voice still does not have the tendency to sound LIGHT SOPRANO-ish ala-Ariana Grande unlike what those other unreliable channels claim. If you are going to listen closely to her voice in the video, you would notice that her natural voice actually sounds nearer to Jessica Sanchez', Sarah Geronimo's, and Joss Stone's rather than Ariana Grande's. It contains a noticeable medium dark Mezzo color instead of a light feminine Soprano-ish color. Beyonce is clearly NOT a LIGHT nor a HIGH Soprano. Her voice in this video is an example of what she really sounds like whenever she sings in the SAME EXACT CHESTY PLACEMENT that true light sopranos naturally use when they’re casually singing pop/ballads. The truth is Beyonce is just a well-developed MIXER. She normally mixes her sustained belts from G4 up to the extremes of her upperbelts. That’s why many people assume that her natural voice is light & high, but it actually is not. A lot of people fail to notice that she’s already mixing most of her belts because her BALANCED MIX sounds like a CHESTY MIX of a normal light Soprano due to her naturally THICK voice. But the truth is, she is already mixing EVENLY in most of her belts (both in the 4th and 5th octave). She’s also using a HYPERNASAL placement very often which gives her voice a light Rihanna-ish color in some of her songs. Aside from that, she also uses compression/raised larynx, mask singing, and airy falsettos to make her voice sound more feminine/marketable to the pop audience. In this video, you would hear her sing in a low breathing chesty placement. Although there are still few moments in the video where she is mixing/using a nasal technique, 90% of the video still presents the natural sound of her chest voice. You would notice that her voice has the tendency to be REALLY SHOUTY in notes B4 and above when she’s refusing to mix/refusing to use a nasal placement. In some of these clips, you would notice her voice naturally mixing above B4. Her chesty belts above C5 also have the tendency to be growly, raspy, or hypernasal when executed in a prolonged chesty manner. In fact, most of her chesty upperbelts are done in a NASAL manner to avoid straining. She just adds some frogginess/retraction to her vowels to make the sound of her nasal belts rounder. But she really tends to be nasal in the upperbelts when her mixing is chesty and her breathing is low. You can also hear in the weight of her vibrato and in her head voice how heavy her voice really is. It is not true that her voice CONTAINS NO WEIGHT like what that other unreliable channel is claiming. Her natural voice is evidently WEIGHTY, MEATY, and DARK. This is definitely NOT a naturally HIGH nor a LIGHT SOPRANO voice. She’s just a very technically developed singer that’s why she can produce different sounds with her voice. Beyonce is definitely more of a HIGH MEZZO in contemporary singing who just uses a lot of alternative techniques to be able to sing some Soprano notes/phrases more comfortably. And even when she’s mixing, she can still rarely sustain clear F5's-G#5’s with no nasality and with effortless vibrato. Take note, her support is already very strong and her mixing is already well-developed, but her belting range in a chesty/balanced mix is still limited. This is clearly a not a LIGHT SOPRANO voice and definitely not the same vocal type as Ariana Grande. True LIGHT & HIGH SOPRANOS are actually very common in the Philippines. We have Regine Velasquez, Angeline Quinto, Katrina Velarde, Rachelle Ann Go, Charice Pempengco, and Sheryn Regis. Beyonce sounds NOTHING like them even when she’s mixing. In TESSITURA and in VOICE QUALITY, the difference is just very noticeable.
I agree. Soul Velvet and Kaji have a lot of inaccuracies. Beyonce is clearly a Mezzo or a low & dark Soprano at least. She is definitely not a light Soprano and definitely does not sound like Ariana. Soul Velvet needs to study his contents more.
I prefer her voice like this than when she's trying to sound like a Soprano. She's so powerful when she's singing as a Mezzo. She should sing more in this range/placement.
My voice teacher told me that it's indeed easier for people to mistake Beyoncé for a soprano but she has friends who analysed her vocal chords and frequencies and their conclusion was that she's indeed a mezzosoprano

sosyal. may mga hagod siyang nagkakaboses talaga sila ni sarah g. taray 💅
The clip in the end is the strongest proof that she's a Mezzo indeed. That was really powerful.

Nice clips showcasing the power and weight of Queen Bey’s voice. ❤
