Maximum the Hormone are one of Japan's biggest bands. Their live crowds go off. Hanabie used to do covers of their songs when they started in school. Nemophila does two excellent covers of MTH songs. Murata tamu is in a great video on YT where she tries out for a new cover band that MTH themselves were creating. Check out the video. You see where they find out Tamu decided to play drums after she saw MTH's Nao drumming in a metal band.
You don't even see the real band until the last half of the video. Nao (drums) and her brother Ryo (vocals, guitar), Ue (Bass) and Daisuke (Scream, drums) are legends in Japan and beloved by every contemporary Japanese rock/metal band. Hanabie started as a MTH tribute band. Murata and Akane are huge fans of Nao. Ryo-kun knows and plays a multitude of diverse styles. Ue-chan does incredible effects on his bass. The MTH rabbit hole is a surreal journey that will turn your brains inside out. Every video they release has some strange and unexpected twist that will catch you completely off guard.
Great reaction Man.. This is a great band with some awesome songs... Please do some more... Fun fact.. Nemophila's Drummer the 'famous' Tamu first got into music from hearing Maximum the hormone for the first time from a cd her brother had.. When she found out the drummer 'Nao Chan' was a Lady, that was it.. The rest is history. She even sings the part's Nao sings in the original.. One tallented young lady.. Looking forward to your reaction to the Nemo cover... You must do a deep dive on the meeting she had with Maximum the hormone. There is a video out there called "NEMOPHILA Drummer Murata Tamu meets MAXIMUM THE HORMONE | A Drummer of Many Talents & Skills" It is a cool video at the end it shows a brief history of how she joined Nemophila and Tamu playing all the instuments she is proficient in.. It is well worth the watch, very informative.. Best wishes to you as always from France, and thanks for all the great content..
One of the best and most influential bands Japan has ever produced. You cant throw stone in the Japan metal scene without hitting a fan of this band. They only make bangers, fully recommend checking out Yoshu Fukushu.
Best punk-metal band. Funny thing is, this was pretty straight forward for MTH. They are crazy all over the place--in the best way. Ryo-guitar; Nao-Drums (Ryo's big sis); Uehara aka Ue-chan-Bass; Daisuke-Vocals. "Yoshu Fukushu," "Hungry Pride," "A-L-I-E-N," "Tsume Tsume Tsume" "F" (if you can find that video--it's about Frieza from Dragon Ball) "Koi no Mega Lover"
I think you try their song Alien next . It will blow you mind!!!! This song is mild compared to their later work.Maximum the Hormone is a Japanese heavy metal/hardcore punk band from Hachiōji, Tokyo. Their lineup has consisted of vocalist Daisuke-han, drummer Nao, guitarist Maximum the Ryo-kun, and bassist Ue-chan since 1999. Each member alternates singing lead vocals, often within the same song, with the exception of Ue-chan, who provides backup vocals almost exclusively. Nao is the idol of many newer female drummers in Japan. Another band from Japan i think you would love is Ningen Isu . They are the grandfathers of Japanese metal. Formed in the 1980's . Called by many the Black Sabbath of Japan. Try their song Heartless Scat.
The band in the beginning is a joke. That isn't Maximum the Hormone. None of the clips in the beginning are Maximum the Hormone. 4:30 That is Maximum the Hormone. Zetsubo Billy was made for the famous anime 'Death Note'. One of two songs they did for Death Note. 5:15 'My name is Kira'. Kira (killer) was the nickname of Light Yagame who was the main character of Death Note. The first time i ever heard Maximum the Hormone was watching Death Note. Great anime btw highly recommend. Everyone sings in Maximum the Hormone. The drummer is the sister of the guitarist. Murata Tamu is a big fan. If you watch the video someone is writing and then the fake band dies of a heart attack. I don't want to spoil Death Note but that is related:)
Great Reaction to one of (if not the) japanese greatest bands!! They influenced a bunch of the newer Bands you reacted to. Think you need at least 5 more to get an impression of the vesatility of this amazing band. Just some recommendations to get a picture of how broad their catalogue is: Alien, VAP, Yoshu Fokushu, Koi No Sperma, Tsume Tsume (and much more). Please continue, it is so much fun and I am looking forward for your reaction 😁
Good man! Figured you'd love this band. They aren't everyone's cup of tea but the world would be a pretty boring place if they were. MTH are all over the place but have a consistent groove that I've gotten seriously addicted to. Following this with Nemophila's cover will make you fall in love with them all over again. Thanks for sharing the journey with us! I'm enjoying the fun!
YES! They've very much "not my thing" - but they're also VERY much one of THE bands I recommend to friends for whom this is "their thing" 👍😄😎😊 Very happy to see you get round to checking them out!
FYI. The drummer of Nemophila Tam Murata started playing drum when she foud out the drummer of her favorite band MTH Nao is female. Here is "NEMOPHILA Drummer Murata Tamu meets MAXIMUM THE HORMONE | A Drummer of Many Talents & Skills" video. th-cam.com/video/Hi--VkbrF44/w-d-xo.html The drummer of Band Maid Akane also adore MTH and Nao.
MTH scratched my SOAD itch originally, but then quickly cut their own niche into my spectrum of sounds. They are one of the few thrash/punk metal bands I listen to regularly, probably bc they dont just stick with that label and are so talented and changing grooves.
You got punked by the video. All the musicians you saw in the beginning were not MTH. This song is widely known as the closing theme for the anime Death Note (so I heard). You will love NEMOPHILA’s cover.
There's nothing I love more than watching people in the West get blindsided by MTH 😂 They're INCREDIBLY respected in Japan, and are one of my go-to's to show any friends that are into metal. Unapologetically *THEM*
it is funny that you slept on that band for far too long))) All bands from Japan you enjoy so much adore, they worship that band. They perform at 100K live, easy. The craziest band ever to come out of Japan. Hanabie started as a cover band for MTH))) This band is wild, enjoy the ride...
Essential MTH videos are 'Yoshu Fukushu', 'ALIEN', 'Koi no Sperm' and their newest 'Koi no America'. Plenty of WTF moments in all of them. This band is just indescribably great. Also, with the Japanese bands, especially MTH, always let the videos run right to the end or you may well miss something essential.
MTH's videos are all crazy - but this one ( if you've never seen the band before ) is particularly strange . The band itself doesn't appear in the video until just over 4 minutes in - they're the ones in the black in the studio at the end 🤷♂ . Their songs are always all over the place and it's well nigh impossible to guess what's going to happen next in the videos - TANGENTAL ROCK ??? " Koi no America " is worth checking out - CRAZY video !
Koi no sperma Yoshu Fukushu Lets talk about Menkata CotaLee are my faves by this band. Hungry pride is also dope. They have a awesome style. Genre Blenders for sure. Oh and ALIEN is just straight bonkers. :) Kinda like a Japanese System of a down in my mind. PS i love that you heard the limp bizkit influence cuz these guys remind me alot of them too and they were a favorite of mine growing up.
This song was the closing song from season 2 of the anime Death Note. Basically someone had a notebook if they wrote a name in it you would die. The video is a bunch of poser bands all dieting after having their names written. Th3 real MTH cones in and wrecks shit. I think the best starting point for MTH is Yoshu Fukushu.
Despair of Billy. With that energy, MTH wants to convey to us in this song what the sound of Billy's desperation feels like (in his head while watching trash TV)... like a roller coaster of bumper cars decorated with explosives. In their songs, MTH makes social criticism of the increasingly decadent, broken and degenerate Japanese society.
it’s the official music video. The band was blowing up around that time and getting accused of losing their way, so they filmed it from some old garage and killed off corporate sellouts in their video both as a reference to Death Note (which the song was made for), and a way of telling people that no, they are still Maximum The Hormone

i just call this music "the stress destroyer 9000"

MTH are living legends and one of the craziest bands out there. 🔥🤘🏻
Welcome to M.T.H. always expect the unexpected.
This is just the beginning. you have no idea about this band
High key one of my favorite songs ever and I didn't even start listening to this genre until a year ago lol
Great reaction Man.. This is a great band with some awesome songs... Please do some more...

Im happy that you actually went and looked for the music video most people don't for this song
One of the best and most influential bands Japan has ever produced. You cant throw stone in the Japan metal scene without hitting a fan of this band. They only make bangers, fully recommend checking out Yoshu Fukushu.
Maximum the Hormone is a band that always gets reactors asking "WTF did I just watch?", lol. This is one of their less bizarre videos.
They are genious.
I love ZETSUBOU BILLY ,thanks reaction from JP😆

This song is really old, it was an opening of the DeathNote anime.
But it's still so good to hear it.
My all time ever favorit song from coming out of Japan Thank you anime for giving me an intro to this band
The band in the beginning is a joke. That isn't Maximum the Hormone. None of the clips in the beginning are Maximum the Hormone. 4:30 That is Maximum the Hormone.

Yeah the girl with the guitar is Tsukiko Amano I've seen a lot of people say it's Nao

I appreciate that. They certainly kicked me square in the chest. Haha. I'm definitely going to be going into their catalog for sure!
Good man! Figured you'd love this band. They aren't everyone's cup of tea but the world would be a pretty boring place if they were. One thing I always noticed about this PV is the visual kei band😅
Welcome to the MTH pit🤘🇯🇵
YES!
They've very much "not my thing" - but they're also VERY much one of THE bands I recommend to friends for whom this is "their thing" 👍😄😎😊
Very happy to see you get round to checking them out!
Next songs: Hungry Pride, Yoshu Fukushu (Preemptive Revenge), Koi No America, Utsukushiki Hitobito no Uta, ... ... ...
FYI. The drummer of Nemophila Tam Murata started playing drum when she foud out the drummer of her favorite band MTH Nao is female. Here is "NEMOPHILA Drummer Murata Tamu meets MAXIMUM THE HORMONE | A Drummer of Many Talents & Skills" video. th-cam.com/video/Hi--VkbrF44/w-d-xo.html
The drummer of Band Maid Akane also adore MTH and Nao.
True
Louisiana Bob is one of my favorites from the same album as this song, after this track. Simple as hell but I love it
MTH is just a blender of genres that just seems to work
MTH scratched my SOAD itch originally, but then quickly cut their own niche into my spectrum of sounds. They are one of the few thrash/punk metal bands I listen to regularly, probably bc they dont just stick with that label and are so talented and changing grooves.

Nemophila does a great cover of this song
This song is awesome. Check out Nemophila's cover of it.
Nemophila has covered other songs of theirs.
A song called "SHIMI"
There's nothing I love more than watching people in the West get blindsided by MTH 😂
They're INCREDIBLY respected in Japan, and are one of my go-to's to show any friends that are into metal. Unapologetically *THEM*

I'm just waiting for a collab between MTH and Babymetal, could be a nuclear winter after this XD
Essential MTH videos are 'Yoshu Fukushu', 'ALIEN', 'Koi no Sperm' and their newest 'Koi no America'. Plenty of WTF moments in all of them.
This band is just indescribably great.

Awesome reaction. Gotta do the original of Shimi and the Nemophila cover of shimi too it’s so good.

They made it for death note
it’s the official music video. I still remember seeing this video years ago. This is the official music video. Next time don't say shit if you're completely ignorant.
Yoshu fukushu brotha
Watch death note
