Tom, Glad you contacted your local council and found out your rights, Good to see the work moving on not long before it‘s on the road and you can get some enjoyment from driving the Mini, Cheers Dave.

davejaguar66 thanks, it’s getting there, not much more welding now. Just wanted to make sure I’m lawful in what I’m doing so that if it happens again I have some fire power to throw back

I no when I was younger we used to work on cars out in the street till all hours, but do what u are doing and try and get on with your neighbors, there's nothing worse then getting grief and it all gets out of hand, even talk to them to see what there concerns are, keep up the good work and enjoy your hobby 😉

Tony Aylott it’s crazy, I’ve lived here for 3 years and only been doing this for 1, and it’s not like I have cars here all the time at all hours. I’ve not had any complaints since then, still get funny looks and we don’t speak when we pass, but I just stick strictly to what the council said, document it all, then if it happens again there’s no question to answer for

That thumbs down must be your Neighbour’s? Haha. Good job. On my other sill now, great to get rid of that rust! Going to try welding mine from the inside this time to hide the welds? Either way not the most comfortable job.

Hi Tom, I know you mentioned that you would be videoing any possible encounters with your neighbours. Can I suggest you also keep a written diary? It could be as detailed or not as you like. Provided it showed date, what you were working on and the amount of noise. Just in case one of your neighbours fabricates a pack of lies you could dispute their claims. It would also demonstrate to everyone you're not prepared to tolerate any nonsense. Can I also add that I think you are a good role model to other young men if they were lucky enough to see what you are achieving considering you are also a family and working man. Kudos to you mate.

Michael Roberts cheers pal, good shout on the diary, I hadn’t thought about putting down about the amount of noise etc. And thanks buddy, don’t think I’ve ever been called a role model before so that’s really nice to hear. Cheers mate 👍🏻

Good work sir. One question what type/mix of gas are you using? I've got 100% c02 not sure if this will be any good for bodywork

smile I’m actually using pub gas (c02)...it costs me nothing so it’s a no brainer. Most people will use a blend of C02 and argon, hobby weld apparently are the people to go to for the diy’er. Don’t use the disposable bottles of you can help it or you have deep pockets. For me pub gas works, at the end of the day it’s only there to stop impurities from entering the weld. An argon mix I’m led to believe will produce a better weld as it either burns hotter or cooler, I’m not sure which. I would say your gas will be fine for sheet metal work, that what I’m using, and my welds have passed MOT’s so I’m happy. Hope that helps
