Ok, but it was pretty adorable at 3:15 when the whole cast started laughing, like it isn't in Sheldon's character to laugh there, this is all genuine laughter from the actors/actresses. xD

Da_maul Couldn't agree more. It's like the first season catered to real nerds/geeks which I enjoyed and my parents/others did not. Strangest thing happened when my mom got into it and the others when slowly I realized Big Bang was no longer a nerd/geek show, but a show to make fun of nerds and geeks at our expense for other's enjoyment. Fuck I hate this show so much now.....
I wouldn‘t want to play with Penny. I mean she was generously invited to play with the guys since their trip to Vegas went downwards and she has still the audacity to be such a pest and killing the mood..
Listen. This is the best description of Big Bang. No actual idea of nerd cutler, bizarre and inaccurate sexism, no real jokes, an awful- AWFUL laugh track. (And I know it’s not a massive point, but they don’t actually roll damage...)
To be fair, while this show is hot fucking garbage, actual D&D is virtually impossible to make cinematic to a mainstream audience. Stranger Things did the same thing: they encounter a Thessalhydra, don't roll initiative, Will rolls a d20 to hit with fireball (which you don't have to do, the Hydra would have to make a dex. save), and they one shot it despite the fact that no, they absolutely did not, and they didn't roll for damage. Community did it pretty well, but even theirs was way off the actual game.
2:50 It's all right Sheldon. I've played dungeons & dragons with girls before. My school had a whole DND club even, and I was the first guy member. There were more d&d girl players at my school. And I was really good.
Penny is wrong that no one has played with a girl. I remember years ago I read a girl’s article on the Internet about the *all-girl gaming group* that she started. She herself called it “the holy grail of gaming.”
I actually really liked this episode for how wholesome it was... For a group of people with relatively few shared interest, it was nice seeing them bond over a game of DnD and seeing them genuinely enjoy some parts of it together like that.
This is me and my buddies when the girls want a night out. The nerd is palpable. One time they came back and we were all dressed up in wizard clothes and we just looked at them like... May we help you?
The best episode of TBBT for D&D is, The D & D Vortex, played at Wil Wheaton's house, but I love the impersonations that Howard does in this episode eh
I mean, Penny is kinda right, isn't she? I'm not DnD expert (or even a player for that fact) but, aren't there are parts of the game like where you roll to find out how much money you start with? Things like that?
The show is completely based on stereotypes, and not just of women. Did you hear the part about how "boys that play DnD will never get laid"? Just not a great show. It's built for the mainstream.
This was one of the many episodes that just made you dislike Penny and her unique blend of superiority and failure (pre-pharmaceutical sales rep career).
I don't think the writers on this show did enough research into how D&D works. The literal ONE minute of game play this clip shows has so many things wrong with it, I'm too embarrassed to list them - for the show and for myself.
@@chrlpolk The first few seasons were sometimes painfully close to the bone, with a number of jokes only physicists would get thrown in. It was actually pretty good.
