hi, the left and right arms of the sway bar do not move in an opposite direction per se. they actually move in the "same" direction to reduce vehicle sway or tilt. when the left coil spring compresses while cornering, the left arm of the sway bar moves upward, and through twisting force (torsion), the right arm is forced to move upward, reducing body roll. viewed in a different angle, when the right sway bar is forced to move downward due to gravity, it also forces the left arm to move on same direction reducing the rate by which the coil spring compresses. these twisting movements by the sway bar provides stability to a car. thanks.
@Christian Jacob i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I just did my sway bar link today! It was kind of like that, the rubber was gone and the ball was totally exposed Love your videos man keep up the content :)
I remember my physics teacher in college having a very powerful lecture on centripetal force and how dangerous it can be if you take a turn too quickly.
Thanks for this; ads aside, this video explained body roll *way* more easily than that jerk over at the Engineering Explained channel who has to overexplain everything, yet paradoxically fail to get the point across.
I’m trying to determine if this is necessary or not, I have a 2020 F250 and towing a 5000 pound trailer and don’t feel any body roll. But I am thinking about getting a 9000lb toy hauler so wondering if this would help. Thanks

I breathe wrong in my car and it moves around. You should see it when I have to drive on the highway on a windy day. My car gets blown all over the place. The joys of owning a 98 Toyota Corolla.
Many vehicles leave the factory with sway bars but they are often very small in diameter. The beefier the sway bar the better it works. BTW, my 2015 f250 SD doesn't have a sway bar. It was an upgrade option.
Some cars come equipped with thin diameter bars. But if you look under most trucks, they do not come with a rear sway bar, or if they do it's barely adequate.
sway arm don't twist. the sway arm make your car left and right side parallel to each other so when you turn left the force will push the right side of the car down because most of the weight are transferred to the right the left tire will lose grip because the sway arm make the car side parallel the force from the right side are redistributed to the left to mitigate the sway this will push down the left side and maintain tire grip. sway arm are connected to suspension the suspension act as the force absorber sway arm won't work without suspension and this is the reason why sway arm are not bulky.
Both especially if you tow a trailer often the engine is alot of weight get quick disconnect connectors also just in case you have to drive some rough terrain disconnecting makes off road much more comfy and there are adjustable sway bar quick disconnectors that can fit any ride height and pull a pin and pop off makes it really easy
I understand that Hellwig wants to sell more of their overpriced sway bars but the reality is that sway in turns is the result of an increase of weight on the outside springs. A spring may be able to support the vehicle load on flat ground or even in a turn without a load but unable to support the same vehicle with a load. The heavier the vehicle the less effective a sway bar addition will be. Vehicles that need a sway bar for control will have ones installed already by the manufacturer at the factory. My pickup was OK with nothing in the bed but with a 3700 lb camper load there was a great deal of sway on sloping ground or in turns. The fix was to add more load capacity with the addition of Super Springs overload leaf springs. No more sway with the added load support.
Hello Hellwig Products, Your commercial is hard to listen to. The person who picked the back ground music, picked a melody in a register that dominates the voice. As a result your ears compete to block it out in order to listen to the message.
I think this explanation is very wrong... You do not have opposite movement. In the contrary. The bar holds both sides together, tight. As a result, when one wheel goes up, the other side sitting on the pavement, will push the up wheel down. Will try to level. The way you explain it it implies that by lifting one wheel, the other goes down even deeper. Exactly opposite of what you want the bar to do.
Hi there I think your short video was a good video but only I didn’t like the part. The music in the background was more loud than it should be because it does partially make it difficult to hear your voice when you’re talking thank you for listening reading and have a great day. Jesus Christ bless you all bye-bye
a little harsh i can see not adding to the convo but he was respectful and stayed in his place but how many other times has a female not really helped in the convo. could have been better overall dont let fame change you

True say
this correct
yea i think the company tried to dumb it down which kinda lost me, this was my take on it aswell.
The way they explained it would actually increase roll 🤣

Just added one to the rear of my 53 Chrysler Town & Country wagon and I can’t hardly believe what a difference it made. I am definitely a fan
Weird, I thought you were a human...
That's great Thomas! Glad to hear you're liking the product!
@Walter Kyree instablaster ;)

@Christian Jacob It worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my ass!
My 89 e350
Motorhome Never had a rear sway bar .just installed a 1.250" Hellwig bar aftermarket unit $475 Have yet to take it out for test drive
I just did my sway bar link today! It was kind of like that, the rubber was gone and the ball was totally exposed
Love your videos man keep up the content :)
The rubber bushings are extensively used in suspension parts. I wonder what is the lifetime of that rubber!...like WWII car is still OK to drive?
Why didn't you put the music even louder...
Lol
I remember my physics teacher in college having a very powerful lecture on centripetal force and how dangerous it can be if you take a turn too quickly.
You didn't convince me that it works. In other words I wasn't swayed.
Ha...
Ha ha ...
Hahahahahaha!
Thanks for this; ads aside, this video explained body roll *way* more easily than that jerk over at the Engineering Explained channel who has to overexplain everything, yet paradoxically fail to get the point across.
That's funny, because they explained it incorrectly
I’m trying to determine if this is necessary or not, I have a 2020 F250 and towing a 5000 pound trailer and don’t feel any body roll. But I am thinking about getting a 9000lb toy hauler so wondering if this would help. Thanks

thank you, well explained
My sway bar button is not working because I don't see any lights on. What could be the issue?
The sway bar needs an oil change.
I breathe wrong in my car and it moves around. You should see it when I have to drive on the highway on a windy day. My car gets blown all over the place. The joys of owning a 98 Toyota Corolla.
Wrong, they move to the same direction :((
I've never seen a car without a sway bar installed on the factory.
They have it but aren't like these actual bars also known as anti roll, they really make a difference.
Crown Vic interceptors don’t have front sway bars and very thin one in the back lol
Isuzu Ivan
Are there vehicles without them?
Yes, my 2020 F-150 has one up front, but didn't have one in the back until I put one on. Made a very noticeable difference...
@@stevewobig103Do the sway bars make your truck more comfortable? As in a more plush and smooth ride?
thank you!
Do trailers roll?
sway arm don't twist.
the sway arm make your car left and right side parallel to each other so when you turn left the force will push the right side of the car down because most of the weight are transferred to the right the left tire will lose grip because the sway arm make the car side parallel the force from the right side are redistributed to the left to mitigate the sway this will push down the left side and maintain tire grip. sway arm are connected to suspension the suspension act as the force absorber sway arm won't work without suspension and this is the reason why sway arm are not bulky.
Good explanation of how a sway bar works! thanks for this video!
For a pick up truck 2500 Ram 4x4, which is better to install, in the front or rear?
Both especially if you tow a trailer often the engine is alot of weight get quick disconnect connectors also just in case you have to drive some rough terrain disconnecting makes off road much more comfy and there are adjustable sway bar quick disconnectors that can fit any ride height and pull a pin and pop off makes it really easy
So say you have a beefer hitch installed to frame of a vehicle. I would imagine the thinner rear sway bar then becomes useless?
No, the hitch attaches high to the frame and rolls with the vehicle. As a result, a hitch doesn’t reduce roll as an anti-roll bar will.
good!!!
I'm too distracted by the thumb looking like a toe.
Hahaha
Can you turn the music up a little, I can still kinda hear you
👍
Don't cars come from the factory with sway bars included??
I want to take you to swaybar!!!!!
You sound like NileRed!

YOU AINT GOT THE ANSWERS SWAY!!!
Why always that noisy music in the background? Doesn't add anything to the explanation. Just annoying, distracting and noisy. Bad editing!
I didn't know they named a sway bar after the Ultimate Warrior lol
RIP Jim Hellwig
This just in: Not all of us get or even have "white" knuckles. Just saying. FYI
Hello Hellwig Products, Your commercial is hard to listen to. The person who picked the back ground music, picked a melody in a register that dominates the voice. As a result your ears compete to block it out in order to listen to the message.
Damn, an here I thought the sway bar was an arm bar for mechanics to maneuver under the car.
Work good for pull ups 😂
White knuckles? Don’t get it
From holding onto the wheel tightly in fear of falling out of your seat.

Looks like the budget for this video was all in getting it to 1080, audio left behind running at 10kbps
The audio is fine. Maybe try using headphones better than the ones that came with your Obamaphone.
I’m taking the sway bar out of my 4wd
600 bucks really ?? Why so damn expensive

Immediately that music is loud and annoying
Bad explanation - Just a commercial
Lose the music
this video may well be the worst explanation of anything, ever! congratulations, i guess??
