Nice one Tom. Would be pretty epic to add itchen Abbas and Winchester... You might need a garage extension 😆...great to see your model template approach. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for your comments. I'm starting to wonder what my next project might be. I have enjoyed n gauge modelling and I have a line leaving the hidden fiddle yard, so maybe I'll consider connecting it to Itchen Abbas and Winchester.
Trick for getting measurements from photos is to count bricks. It can help check measurements. Google brick dimensions chart for tables of brick to measurement. Vertical checks are quick, if you times the number of brick courses by 75mm you should be reasonably close (imperial bricks might vary but should be okay if you use 215mm for whole brick length with 10mm for mortar joint at one end e.g. 440mm is a two brick wide pier - 215 brick plus 10mm joint plus 215mm brick) hope this helpful in your scratch building - great looking layout so far.
thank you. I tried several methods at first, including counting bricks, but at the end of the day the [station] building just looked too big. I found that once i was happy with the station building, the other building needed to look relatively proportional to it. As the store house was behind the station, I actually made it a little smaller. If I'd build the layout the other way round, then I'd have built a bigger storehouse! Anyway, thank you for the advice and I must say your layout is coming on well too!
Nice one tom thanks
Thank you Patrick. It's my first go at n gauge, and I've really enjoying watching it come to life!!!
