I don't know if you will see this Colleen or if someone has suggested it before, however, I love painting on fabric and my go to method when I don't want the fabric to shift is to iron on the shiny side of freezer paper. I keep a stash of freezer paper on hand at all times, because I print on fabric with an inkjet printer. I also use transfer paper in black and in white.

Any ideas for a handmade light box?
I want to paint a slogan just the once on a piece of fabric.

Can I spray some kind of finish that will protect my lettering after painting on fabric? What to use to spray that can just be wiped off if it gets dirty?

IRON IT... (Put something, like cloth over it) it will set the paint.
      Hand wash always.

Oh good question! I haven’t tried it myself but I *think* I've seen posca paint pens used, I would test a section before deciding!

Round brushes size two are my fave, I have no brand preference. Just Higgins black eternal ink from michaels

What would be best to use on cotton fabric to make labels for quilts that will be washed?

IRON your material FIRST... it will be so much easier to draw/paint on.
