- Barenaked Ladies (Ed Robertson, Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, Tyler Stewart) and Steven Page were welcomed into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame by fellow inductee (1994) and legendary rock icon Geddy Lee of Rush.

This is one of the best Hall of Fame induction speeches EVER!! It is so one brand for the band and absolutely genuine. By far my favorite Canadian band.

As a Canadian American it warms my heart to see such an awesome band become the recipients of such a pretigious award
Hard to believe that they only sold 15 Mil records. These guys are super humble and amazingly talented musicians, all of them!!!
Sometimes talent and creativity are inversely proportional to commercial success.
These guys were truly special.
Watching them cry was really sweet.
Rush and BNL, two completely different bands but two of my favorites!
Me too! Completely different, with the exception of incredible musical talent that both groups possess.
I have to say, I feel that the range of emotions this band is capable of evoking in the listener is damn near unparalleled! Silly, sad, philosophical, enthusiastic, ridiculous, you name it! If there's an emotion, there's probably a BNL song to go with it!

I've been to many concerts, but can only name a few where the entire audience stood for the whole concert! Barenaked Ladies was one of them! Great show!
Living on the northern U.S. border I was a big fan of these guys. I remember being in the deep south of America in the late 90's and somebody playing a BNL song, pretty sure it was $1,000,000 Dollars, and talking about this great new song...

These guys did it like always the show must go on attitude . They nailed it .
The best part they all managed somehow to have lives and families through all the crazyness .
They deserve all they worked for and what they don't deserve is anyones animosity .
Life goes on .
They are such a gift to humanity to learn to lighten up and enjoy the moment.
I was at that 80,000 show in Boston and never looked back since. Steve & Ed, you guys were made to be together. Lets gooooooo!!!!!

Breaks my heart that Steven Page and Ed Robertson don't sing together anymore, if I had a million dollars I'd buy a Garfunkel and also hire them to do a gig for me!

The BNL’s new song “Too Old” struck a deep cord in me when I first heard it, and it’s been in my head for days now. I can’t help but think about how the band dropped him for his transgression, while other legendary bands and musicians have done much worse. I think they need to consider bringing Steven back if they’re going to stand up against unreasonable judgement in their music. I respect their decisions, it’s just a thought ☕️
I've been blessed to get to know these guys, and their crew, over the years, first while working at Taylor Guitars and then as a music photographer. More down to earth rock stars you'll never meet. I'm honored to know them!

You were my first concet in high school and I still love you this day, almost 20 years later. Growing up on the border, in Detroit, I feel so great to be able to have found you guys in my early years.
We can thank 89X and, when Old Apartment broke, Planet 96.3, for that! So sad that both those stations are now lost to the winds of time...
Geddy and Alex were my first concert in high school!
These guys became a huge relevation to me 17 years ago when I was kicking cancer's ass. Will always love this band!

Barenaked Ladies are a band that has been with me almost my entire life and which i have slowly realised in the last few years is genuinely one of my favourite bands of all time, i love these guys!
Would be one of the greatest reunions if they would go on tour again Steve is missed

I just saw Steven Page open for Tom Cochrane's concert tonight and he didn't miss a beat!
I remember seeing Barenaked Ladies perform at a small club in New York called The Bottom Line when Gordon came out. Great show!

I remember being so excited for this. And I remember thinking "they will definitely get back together after this..."
I still have the yellow tape I bought at the SUB in my school at the time, Fanshawe college when I saw BNL play for at lunch in 1989. I remember them being on speakers corner. So happy for them and to see them perform again.
My dad is oldschool audiophile and music has to be pretty special to get a reaction out of him. I played Gordon the other day when he was visiting and I could tell he was impressed, like he was asking questions about it and paying careful attention.
Good choice. Even though that is an early album, it is *impeccably* recorded.
They are truly special eh? Music and lyrics are just so intelligent.
Canada gave us Gordon Lightfoot, Rush and BNL. But they gave us Bieber too so it just proves Canada has a twisted sense of humor.
Can we return?
They also gave us Brian Adams, Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Rick moranis, and Dave Thomas! What an awesome list! And I'm certain it goes on and on!
Canada also has given us some of the greatest Death Metal/ Extreme metal bands as well. Gorguts, Archspire, Blood of Christ, Cryptopsy, Kataklysm I could go on and on..Thank you eternally Canada!!🤘

Holy freakin cow...The Band that completely occupied the 90's for me. I had just moved back to NY from being on active duty in the ARMY. I had found out that they had been coming to my area in NY for years. It was awesome to be in tight with a band that others had not discovered yet. A huge group of my friends had introduced me to them and I began spreading that info on to my friends across the states. I Called my buddy in Seattle and said wait until you hear these guys. A few weeks later One week hit the charts and they Blew up. Some of the guys had been fond of the area. I had seen them 9 times in a 3 year period.
So very cool to see them get the award and cooler still the thank you song at the end. Very BNL...
I saw them in 93 in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan it was an outdoor concert!

Going to numerous BNL live shows was one of the best parts of my college years. So appropriate to play them on with "Pinch Me"!

Having discovered BNL the same way most of Canada did through their spending of a few loonies on Speakers Corner back when Much Music STILLL Played Music
I Lost my freaking mind when one day at our local Hardware Store in the bargin bin there sat one lone Yellow jacketed Club Sandwhich 5 song Bare Naked Ladies Cassette
I reamined as calm as I could as I spent 5 dollars for it & then. hurriedly got my ass back home hit my room & began playing it for days on end . That cassette made me a BNL fan for life
They should have had Andy come up on stage with them.

I met Ed walking out of the Starbucks / Ben & Jerrys in the Hard Rock Hotel in Biloxi, MS. Literally almost walked right in to him because I was trying to take a pic of some of the memorabilia to send to my cousin. He was actually doing the same thing. Absolutely the nicest guy ever! We talked for five minutes or so and I told him that my husband and I were there to see them for our anniversary. He wished us well and thanked me/us for being fans and hoped we hoped we enjoyed the show. (We had the best time at the show!) When we finished talking, I took a few steps and called my husband who didn’t want to walk down to our vehicle with me, which is where I was headed, but decided to stop at Starbucks/ Ben & Jerrys. I told him I met Ed! He said WHAT! Did you get a picture with him?!? I said no, I didn’t want to ruin the moment by being “that person”. He deserved to enjoy his Frappuccino in peace. We had a cool, interesting conversation, and I was so happy about that. He probably would have taken a selfie with me if I had asked, but I was enjoying talking to him more than anything. Super awesome guy, the band was incredible live, all in all 1,000/10 experience.

They didn't disband. Steve just left back in 2009.
I guess being inducted is great in itself, but to be inducted by Geddy Lee must make it unbelievable.
They need to be inducted in the rock and roll hall of fame!!!

Their politics are exact opposites. Levant is right-wing yahoo while Steve Page is a supporter of social democracy (the NDP).

Then Toronto Mayor BARBARA HALL.....LoL...Yeah she lost a great deal of support after she banned BNL from playing New Years Eve 1991..she felt the band's name "Objectified" Women....Needless to say not one woman complained about the band's name but more "Who cares??...just a name"
