This is amazingly helpful, the rules are written in a way that's not perfectly clear... but Liz saves the day!

Thanks for the overview! This mode is easy to proxy using leftover project cards, if you don’t have access to it. One thing to note is that the deck should be effect side up, so you don’t get a peek at the next number.

This is an extremely articulate explanation. Thank you so much! Welcome To is such a great game and got even better after one of the best solo modes that I have ever come across.

Thank you so much for clearly explaining the estate scoring! I spent the same amount of time trying to figure that out as playing the game itself. Looking forward to scoring it correctly from now on :)

    Thanks!
I guess they could have made it a bit easier to comprehend with the following minor tweak to the graphic design: instead of "Bis > 2" have "Bis = 2", and instead of "Market > 2" have "Market × 2".

Completely agree on how much depth you get for such a little game, I love number games and it reminds me of "the game" but with a lot more variety. I just ordered the Las Vegas expansion and from what I understand it's a lot different but no less fun.

Thanks Liz. Just started playing the Alexis mode and was confused about the estate scoring and this helped so much!

Very good explanation for the Alexis solo mode. After watching this video I was inspired to order the solo mode, and just received it today. I do have a couple of questions: In the written rules for the Alexis solo mode it says to stack the cards that you discard to the solo opponent effects side up...unlike how you stacked them in the overview. At the end of the game do you flip the cards over using the bottom card in the track as the first card, or do you use the last card played as the first card? Although I am not sure that it will change the scoring in any way. Secondly an earlier comment asked where the points for fences are listed on the score sheet and you response was "Fences aren't inherently worth points. They fence in estates of various numbers of houses, and those are worth points." which is confusing because you noted when explaining the solo opponents that the number next to the fence icon was how many points they got for each fence they had in their stack of cards...which also matches the written rules. Can you clarify your response. Thanks

I think you and some others are beginning to corrupt me about solo gaming. I’ve been doing it more often and I was never a big solo gamer before. Good video!

I just bought this as the whole thing with all the variations and solo deck was on sale for 50% off. I game almost exclusively solo, so solo mode is important to me. When I tried the original BYOS solo mode I was somewhat underwhelmed. I tried Alexis last night and it was so much better, although I had a very difficult time figuring out the estate scoring. After watching this video, it turns out I managed to score it correctly, which is a miracle. Thanks for the super clear explanation!

Liz says that shuffling your discard pile into the draw deck, after the first plan is validated, makes it MORE likely that the plan cards will show up in future draws. Doesn't it make it LESS likely, since you've now made the draw deck LARGER?

Yeah that’s what happened with my 1st solo with this mode, it’s definitely luck of the draw

I'm impressed on how simple this was incorporated into a Roll & Write that changes how you play based on what you should and shouldn't discard. Welcome To is coming my way soon and I also ordered the AI deck as well. looking forward to it.

with a solo mode im willing to give this another shot. My first experience left me indifferent. My second experience left me laughing at chris' face for not knowing BIS. Maybe this is the charm that'll do it.

Where do you write the points for the fences? I’m confused...

    • @BeyondSolitaire

Fences aren't inherently worth points. They fence in estates of various numbers of houses, and those are worth points.

    • @lyssgraham3904
      @lyssgraham3904 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@BeyondSolitaire I thought that your explanation showed fences are worth one point each so it is confusing where to write it. Does it make sense to put it in the 6th estate scoring space since you only score for the top 5 estates? This is a great video I just wish it showed how to fill out the score card for the AI.
