I scored 89 and had to use my own deck to take 4 extra turns prior to reaching a condition to end the game. Thank you for the video and for the visuals for each round which made playing along efficient.
You’re so welcome! I hope it was fun for ya! I like doing these.... sometimes it’s a little extra work to get things figured out and visual-friendly.... but if I can figure it out, I like doing it.
Got 91 and had a lot of fun! Thanks for this video, really helped to have someone help with teaching the game. Great graphics as well for each round :)
Thanks a million! I appreciate that! I'm glad you got to play and have fun! IT's been so long since I've played this game.... I wonder how I would do playing against myself.... I might have to do this tomorrow!
For quarentine fun, I'm finding games I can play along with from home (I find it more fun than solo play). I got 95 😀 (Managed to grab 2 of the city plans right before they flipped!) Thanks for the play along!!
Oh dang! That's so awesome! I have several play-along games if you get bored! I started those a couple of years ago and try to make one for any game that I own that makes sense to do that with..... some of theme are "solo" play-along modes I've created myself.... so check them out if you get a chance!
Subscribed. Great video. I got messed up with .uk first game and your tuition helped me a !ot. Sorry for not playing a!ing because I needed to concentrate 😑. I play solo and only solo. Thank you from the UK.
According to a link that I followed after someone else’s solo playthrough you aren’t supposed to use a “full” row objective for any other objective. Hence the 5-2-2 and the 3-4 should be on the bottom 2 rows. This would have changed your scoring a lot. I did play along and finished 1 hand before you, but, with a low score of 65. Thanks for the fun (during my lunch break).
Just got my Kickstarter dry erase boards today and decided to play-along since I pledged the wrong tier and only got the expansions and add-ons. :-) I ended in the same round as you and got a 94. After the objectives went down early I focused on the 4 estate size and parks and got 10-2-18 for the parks (30) and scored 4 estates at 8 points a piece for 32 points accounting for about 2/3 of my total score.
I am still SO jealous! I had pledged for that, but then life happened and my money had to go to a real-home-need... I was so sad. I feel like I’m totally missing out. And nice job on the score! I can’t remember what my score was, but 94 sounds like a really big number, so I’m assuming you kicked my butt...
I didn't actually play along (not having a score sheet and lacking the patience to mock one up for tracking purposes) but I believe I would beat your score. At 32:18 you fill in 4/stock market on the bottom row rather than 4/pool on the top row (which would have let you get the pool bottom right the following turn). After that, things diverge so I'm not certain that things end up similar enough to compare, but it seems like a stronger position. Having looked it up, there's a ruling on BGG that claiming city plans is optional - without which, solo would have an interesting quirk that you want to get 2 city plans while the higher scores are available and then avoid getting the third until the final round in order to avoid triggering the end while there are still points available... With that ruling, getting that second pool doesn't end the game, letting you continue to build score. Of course, in a multiplayer game, you'll usually want to claim immediately in the two situations where it makes a difference - when you're the first to claim a given plan; and when it's your third plan (in both cases, looking to prevent others from getting those points). In multiplayer games generally (not just Welcome To...) having the option to end the game early usually means that everyone's scores will be lower than typically, but you're more likely to have the winning score (or, if not, holding off is unlikely to bring you closer to winning)
“I didn’t actually play along, but I believe I would beat your score.” 😂😂😂 That is a fascinating response. Of course looking back you can talk about different strategies. To me this game is about making decisions in the moment without knowing what will be happening in future rounds. So, you certainly may have beaten me. No doubt. I am not the greatest strategic-mind. I guess we will never know, since it would be tough to play now without any “future information” available to you. It’s tough to make choices when you don’t know if/when a combination will be available to you. But I’m glad you watched! And I hope it was entertaining for you. 😀
Yeah, I was following along, and, while that wasn't the first decision I'd have made differently, it's the only one that wasn't a coin toss either way - I came up with the same general strategy, so, up to that point, if I had been playing along, we'd have looked very similar. But, yeah, I was engaged enough to get an emotional "what the heck are you doing?!?" reaction at that particular play...
Is that the Apple App Store? I did some searching on BGG.... found this thread... boardgamegeek.com/thread/2185831/ios-version-app Looks like there were enough bugs with the iOS version they have temporarily pulled it... 😔
I think that’s awesome!!!! I support that all-the-way. This was a pretty good game for me... most of my on-camera scores are LOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW. (See: Castles of Burgundy the dice game) 😂
Daaaaaaang! You killed it!!!!!! It's been so long for me..... I kinda want to play against myself (I seriously don't remember ANYTHING from this session) and see if I am smarter now, or then....
@@TomTeachesGames Thats what Ive been doing! playing along the roll&writes on TH-cam, some of them for a second time, but I dont have a record of my old scores to compare, so I guess I will never know ;) and its much easier to play when youre not recording.. Have you tried Rolling Realms? (the free Stonemeier Games roll and write)
I have just bought the game and taught my kids after these videos. Also played the solo with you and scored 74
Oh nice!!!! I don’t remember what I scored..... but 74 sounds pretty awesome!
First time playing, thank you for the sheet link! Got 70 Points

Thank you for hosting this game. I got an embarrassingly low 62. Still, it’s fun to play along!
I’m so glad you got to play! It’s been so long since I’ve played this one... I almost want to play against myself and see how I do 😂

Thank you for your video

You're welcome! I really love both of those games! Heck, I'm a big roll-n-write fan in general....

Ah, thank you! Do you have that same link? just so I can read more into that?
And, fun lunch breaks are way better than the boring ones....

"It's done.....I've used a sharpie!" .....comedy gold.
I mean, what is more intimidating in the board game world than sharpies?!? Those things are intense!
Please use the AAA solo variant in another video
Very Nice game
You forgot to cross out the pool in round 23, didn't you? And why did you mark 4 in the next round? :-)

For those wanting to play along, there is a Welcome to IOS app (maybe Android too), with an interactive score sheet.
Great point! I can’t believe I forgot to say that!
Tom Teaches what is the app called? I recently got this game and can not find it on the App Store when searching for “welcome to”

Sorry....the Stock Market is annoying me ☺ Why did you cross out SM 2 ?
Won't bother you again 😕
