Thank you for this in depth tutorial. I learn games fast but as I've gotten older it's more fun to watch a TH-cam video of game being played by a seasoned player than reading a rule book. Now to teach my son then he'll beat me at it lol.

"The more leather we can get , the better...Let's keep that in context" You are brilliant Liz ! I bought Roll Player today based on your video. Thank you for showing the game off so well !

One thing you may have missed is that with the Rogue class, you don't have to move the alignment marker. Seems like this would make moot the issue of not being able to use Skills - for the rogue.

Excellent tutorial. This answered a couple questions I had about timing in the solo variant. Thanks!

Wow! Great game. This seems like the best "dice drafting" game I've seen. May have to add this and monsters and minions to my collection. Thanks again. 👍

Just got this today and got to solo this! So awesome!! Halfling Thief allowed me to create a hilarious story along the way.

Good explanation Liz. I love this game, I think it loses a little something in solo mode but still really solid

I was on the fence about this game. I think I need to play it to make up my mind. Hopefully there's a copy in the game library at BFGCon in Frederick MD this weekend...

I love playing this game and expansion solo mode ( always play solo anyway )
What makes this game enjoyable is variety and above all else, it is IMHO the best solo game to buy.....you'll never get tired of it; just one more p!us: doesn't take huge table space.
Great video . Funny, I watched you playing a game I am really good at! Hey, should be concentrating on learning Lord of the Rings lcg which I bought back in 2011 😅😅😅
    Kind regards from the UK.

I'm so glad you love it! I play a lot of games, but I always come back to the keepers. LOTR LCG is tough but also amazing, definitely give it a try when ready. :)

Great game and video! But... A few nit picks on set up. In the solo mode you should discard 7 cards from each pile, so 7 one dot cards and 7 two dot cards. These form the discard pile.
Also something that I see a number of solo runs miss, is that after building the Market deck, you flip the top card over and it forms the trash pile. So you essentially lose 15 cards, 7 one dots, 7 two dots, 1 trash.
The good thing is that, some cards allow you to manipulate the discard pile. So those initial 14 cards might be accessed at some point.
Keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing a run of the expansion Monsters & Minions at some point.

Thanks for watching! I absolutely did forget to flip the top card into the trash pile! And I forgot about discarding 7 cards-that's actually written in the multiplayer rules section, which I... never bother with enough. Oops. :D

    • @Mambaru
      @Mambaru 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

To be fair I used to remove the 14 cards completely from the game, until I read a post by the designer on BGG. He explained that they form the discard pile. So I was essentially making the game even harder. :)
A cool thing to also do is to add one gold coin to the end of each attribute track, so that you don't forget to gain it. Can you tell that I play the game solo, a lot? :)

This was great! Just picked this up and the expansions and bonus stuff. Any chance of another with all the expansions being run, too? This one was super helpful to start me off.

@@BeyondSolitaire Haha, I know I'd definitely really, really appreciate it! I've seen others try to cover it all, but they're not as well-presented as your playthrough, so I end up turning them off within 10 minutes.

First view of your videos! Really like them. I am out of town and stuck with only "solo play" opportunities so your website is the "cat's meow" for me! Also, apparently we just live miles from each other and you met my friend, Linda. Hope you can make it to our meetup sometime!

Thanks for this! Just confused about what card gets discarded and what card gets removed from the game completely.
Also, I think I'll always remember to take my gold when I finish a row 😆

@31:49 You should have taken 3 coins, not just one, right? 2 for the gold die placement and 1 for completing the row?

  • @RocketMagnetUK

Oh no! - I've looked through the comments and nobody has mentioned it so looks like I'm going to have to be "that guy"
During Setup @9:55 you should have flipped the top card of the market deck to start to form the trash pile.
(Solitaire Rules P14 -"After Creating the market, Flip the top card of the market deck to create a separate "Trash" pile next to the "discard" pile).
Also @9:05 I didn't see 7 cards discarded from the 1 Dot and 7 cards discarded from the 2 Dot (Page 7 point 7 from the Rules).
In the Rules it uses the term "discard" when talking about discarding the 1 Dot and 2 Dot during setup.. this implies they form an initial discard pile or it would surely use the term "Remove" or "Trash".. So I'm pretty sure that in solo you should be starting the game with 14 cards already in the discard pile & 1 in the trash.
BTW had a look at some other videos and they also make the Trash Pile mistake... and some remove the 14 cards instead of adding them to the discard pile... but I think the rules are clear on this unless I've got updated rules?
