Very nice "emergency option" to have! I see you enjoying your coffee on my seat? Don't worry, I don't mind!😀 I spent hours sat there a few weeks ago waiting for sunset only to see a curtain of cloud rising from the horizon which grew and blocked the sun. To my shame ( and because the tide was coming in) I left. The German photographer who had joined me stayed on as he was happy to wade back in the dark!😳 I was half way back to the car park and made the mistake of turning around - my God, it was glorious - what happened? It just goes to prove that Germans aren't just jammy in football!😂
I really like these videos, there’s a lot of guys out there all preaching about how you don’t need expensive gear then they all go off to create their vlogs with their D850’s and thousand pound plus lenses. Your one of the few guys actually using budget kit on a regular basis and getting great results, which gives those of us that can’t afford expensive kit something to relate to instead of making us feel that achieving decent results is out of reach without having access to a bottomless pit of money and the latest whizz bang gear. Thank you!
Thanks ever so much Mick! I can't say I haven't thought about upgrading, but I do rather enjoy having to be just that little bit more considered, in order to get the best out of my gear. And I do struggle to see how spending at least 5 or 6 times as much as I have, would make my photography 5 or 6 times better! Thanks a lot for watching and taking the time to leave encouraging feedback 👍😀
I know im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a way to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot my account password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Dorian Nixon I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
1:52 Whooh! Very Avalon-esque... Or Lyonesse-esque. You get the picture! (He certainly did, and what a terrific picture it is!). 11:28 and seeing as you're asking did you ever try taking any shots of the Menai Bridge? I haven't come across any yet, although since discovering this channel a couple of week's ago, I'm watching clips at a fair old pace. Thanks!
Hello, yes there’s one or two bridge shots and this one on my portfolio website which I didn’t video 🙂👍dgriff.gallery/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/DSC_5659-Edit-copy.jpg
Thanks Barry. Yeah I haven't seen many images of the cottages that weren't either holiday snaps or "estate agent" angles! The ideal time is mid-winter when you can get a sunset over them.
What a challenge it is to get a real compostiotion of the cottage that do not look like the proverbial holiday snap that everyone takes, will be good to see what we can come up from there as there are limited angles to get good comp to show them off in a different way
great video i like how you give OS maps at the begging and there is nothing wrong with holiday type shots sometimes if you travel a long way to a site you have to work with what mother nature give you
Cheers. I do find it odd that so many landscape photography vloggers make no mention of their location. It's kind of why I do this, I want to share what my locality has to offer! 👍
Hi David. I'm pretty sure that I have run across your vlogs in the past, but I follow Gary and his interview with you prompted me to revisit your channel. Really enjoyed this video and I have now subscribed. I will begin to review your back library. Too much good content on YT and not enough time! You captured some beautiful photos in this vlog. I really liked the one at 1:44 of the beach. Cheers, Jeff.
Thanks for a most interesting video. I've seen quite a few photos of the lighthouse and think that yours have a distinctive look that's very appealing. I plan to visit the area at the end of May and have found your work to be inspirational!
Love the standard shot it defo is a nice take on it. And it is not often I learn anything these days BUT I did not know about the WB and RAW. So lesson learned. I need to go there that early May have to get up early. I do still fancy a wild camp or collaborating with you
Great photos mate.I've stayed in the cottage a few times in the past with my best mate that was a part time warden there. Its my favourite place on Anglesey & anywhere else Ive ever been to really.
Wow what a great place to stay in! I completely understand why it would be your favourite place. It's not far off mine too. I don't usually visit at this time of year though because of the crowds! It was a bit last minute this time and I was full expecting a good few photographers to already be there! I live a couple of miles up the road nearer the Church In the Sea. So I'd probably put that one top of my list. 😀
Another superb Video David, just can’t get enough of your content at the moment, your thought process is superb and I’m learning a lot from you. So thank you for this. What a location seen it many times but your stamp on this is truly superb great stuff. Have to get here at some point soon.
Thanks a lot Rob. Llanddwyn is one of those locations that can be really interesting in just about any conditions. The only issue is that the more benign the weather the busier it is!
Hi Dave, some more excellent compositions, I like the first one of the tower. I need to get out there myself and take look. Have you tried Parys Mountain as a theme? (I'm sure you have Dave). Just a thought. I've been out there, Interesting.
Cheers mate. I rather liked that one too, but as it was a quick shot on the walk down I decided to just sneak it into a montage. Safe in the knowledge that the more discerning viewer would appreciate it 👍😀
Gosh! Thanks ever so much - I promise to do my best to keep my standards up! Luckily I've got some really good mountain and coastal locations on my doorstep so at least you'll be able to enjoy that!! 😃👍
After seeing your outstanding images on IoA I was really looking forward to seeing this vlog David. Thanks also for sharing your mindset behind each composition. Your images are all stunning but the Twr Mawr image is sublime! 👍
Hi David, great vlog in your great style. Loved the history lesson too. Love in particular the images at 7:48 and 8:44. Thanks for your time and effort and already looking forward to next time.
Thanks a lot Robert. Probably be somewhere off the beaten track next time, I very rarely vlog from the iconic locations, especially at this time of year, as they're usually so busy. 😀
Just found your channel and love the content, great information on the area too. I’ve visited this a few times this year and always gone for the classic shots myself, mainly because it’s a good 2 hour drive and I don’t have the time to seek out new and interesting compositions, which you certainly managed to do. Well done David, and keep up the great work. 👍
Ben, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such encouraging feedback. I really appreciate your support - it's great to know I'm not wasting my time! Next time you're back this way why not let me know - more than happy to help out with some local knowledge and perhaps even a meet up! 👍😀
Just found you, and very impressed with what I have seen, I'm looking forward to catching up with all of your other vlogs as I am spending a month in North Wales this year and intend to spend a lot of that time looking for the fantastic photographic locations on offer and making the most of them. Thanks.
Hi George, no I haven't really covered any locations close to Conwy itself as it's not too far from my favourite haunts in the the mountains. But there are some great photo ops around there so I might well try to pop along one day 👍 😀
Hi Lloyd, thank you ever so much for watching and taking the trouble to make contact. I think the camera I used for this one was the Hawkeye Firefly 8S 90° action camera. The dynamic range is a bit rubbish but the footage is nice and sharp and in decent light it works perfectly well. Certainly as well as a go pro which cost four times as much! 😊👍🏻
Hi David. What a lovely relaxed approach to the video ! Love your take on this iconic location. Really pleased you had the island to yourself. You've captured some fantastic images here, especially the shot of Twr Bach. Great video David - really enjoyable. Many thanks for sharing. P.S. Is the Newborough car park open and manned at that time of morning or did you get a freebie ;)?
Thanks a lot Ian. I was quite surprised to pitch up and find nobody else around. Very rare at this time of year. I'm told that on Saturday night it was heaving with photographers right through until dawn!
Thanks to you for letting us more about your part of our beautiful Earth!!! You picked again gorgeous location, that lighthouse is one sexy object indeed,,,, you managed your outing excellently with awesome images as always, thank you!! Cheers from Colorado, Verdon!
Thanks Verdon. This is an iconic UK location, often thronged with photographers who have travelled a long way to visit. And they often come away disappointed because the lighting conditions can be terrible there on the coast right under the mountains. I'm lucky to live near by so I can pick the best times to visit!
Hi Craig, many thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Yes, South Stack lighthouse is also nearby. Also another at Penmon, of which you may have seen images (a black and white striped lighthouse) - you'll find both on my website portfolio at dgriff.gallery
Loving these vlogs David. Some great images there but when you were concentrating on the canon, did you miss the view to your left with the tower and mountains in the background? :-D
Thanks a lot Alan. Yes I've shot that way before, but this time the light wasn't working because it was almost straight into the camera. I like that angle at sunset when there is some light on Snowdonia across from the west. 😀
Just wishing I had been sat there taking in the morning light DG... wonderful morning and you have bagged yourself some corking images to go with the sunset ones you got at Llanddwyn. Can I ask what were you using to record yoursle with - the quality looked fabulous.
Thanks David, just realised you had written it in the description. Jack has taken the Go Pro Hero 3+ with him down under so looking to get something maybe if I am to attempt another vlog.... again beautiful conditions and look forward to your next vlog - possibly with the DD tarp ;)
Magic island and magic photography - well done Dave🙂😊

Yeah, the light round here can be very unpredictable, can't it?!
Just adore that area. I could watch that video over and over. I've been once and swear to return as often as I can. Thanks for sharing 👍
Hi, thanks so much for tuning in - much appreciated. Hope you can find time to come back one day ...
Your best yet, I think, David. Thank you for sharing your morning there. How wonderful to live just down the road, too!
Thanks a lot David. It was more luck than judgement moving here! 👍😀

@Dorian Nixon it worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my ass !
Hi David, nice video. I just had to show this to my friend, who was visiting for the first time. I told him he’d be in for a treat.
Many thanks, and I appreciate you sharing too. Although I have to say I've made better photos and videos from there since this one! 😊👍

Both haha x
Lovely stuff
Thanks a lot James. Appreciate your feedback 😀👍
nice shots and video, i luv this place, one of the most magical places on earth.
Hi Kevin, thanks a lot for taking the time to leave a comment. You're quite right it's an amazing location in all conditions! 👍
Really enjoyed that thank you.
Thanks a lot Colin 😀
Great video David, I managed to get myself and my dog marooned on the Island whilst shooting sunset earlier this year, it was absolute bliss.
Haha, yeah there are much worse places to be stuck! 😀😀👍
as usual this is some beautiful landscape photography!
thanks for sharing this with us
really enjoyed watching this!
Cheers, thanks a lot! Really glad you enjoyed it 👍😀😀
Love it David, great shots and good presentation as ever!
Thanks a lot Steve 👍
Great Photography David. (Subscribed)
Thank you very much! 😊👍
Great vlog David
Cheers Steve, thanks a lot - also, great to meet you 😀👍
Good video David and as always very interesting backstory. I do like your style.
Thanks David. Sometimes I think I should speak a bit faster, but my brain won't keep up!! 😄
Another good vlog always love going there, and the cottages are a real challenge to get. Good composition
Thanks Barry. Yeah I haven't seen many images of the cottages that weren't either holiday snaps or "estate agent" angles! The ideal time is mid-winter when you can get a sunset over them.
Thats what I was planning as it is a lot quieter then so thats on my list of winter shoots, maybe share a day there together
Great idea!

Another fantastic video David, I’m fast becoming a fan boy.............at the ripe old age of 50 😉
Haha thanks a lot Darren. Us old gits can teach you young whippersnappers a thing or two!! 😀
Really liked your video. Love your laid back approach. Good to see there’s another old teenager out there 😁 Well done 👍🏻
Thanks a lot Gary. Yeah, I'd like to get up the mountains more often, but it's getting harder!! 😀
What a cracking ahot at 1:55. Just love that foreground and background combo. Excellent video 👌
Thanks a lot James. I was quite pleased with it as a quick handheld as I headed onto the island! 😀

Nice to see some different takes on a classic location. I really liked the very first image with the posts actually as well 👍
Cheers mate. I rather liked that one too, but as it was a quick shot on the walk down I decided to just sneak it into a montage. Safe in the knowledge that the more discerning viewer would appreciate it 👍😀
Some clever compositions and tips, you're a breath of fresh air. Some of the pros that I follow are starting to give me a pain😱

Holiday snap? Convert to B&W and split tone to sepia. Now it's a historical record ;-)
