And think how much you would save if you still had a motorcycle with a trunk ;-)
The only disadvantage of the solution you are using is two sets of basic tools and the need to remember where you have everything, but after some time you can create a "system" that works.
I remember going to the forest for short trips with a small backpack and for full-day trips with a larger backpack and at the beginning I had a big problem with repacking the necessary things, but after some time I got two independent sets (some tools were duplicated) and I just had to remember to take documents, money and keys.

Good plan, and that also gives me a good reason to get more tools 🤣 thanks for the comment

We have a 02 f150 v8 4.6. Thinking of downsizing that even to a v6 or little ranger. We live deep into dirt roads, so four-wheel-drive is a must which is something we didn’t think of when we bought this Ford. Also, we need a full backseat because we have three kids. We don’t hall or tow too much but maybe a quad or 2. What you think?

I know the small 4x4 trucks get kinda hard on fuel. I get 18mpg with mine. And it’s 2wd. If it’s set up properly, I wonder if you can get that out of an f150

I have clients that load 100% of their tools, equipment, etc on the big truck. They always have all of their tools handy. Then their equipment and a small truck gets loaded onto the trailer. Small truck comes off and is used as normal until the job is complete, sometimes weeks. Then the process is reversed. You will never be without ALL of your tools. Just food for thought.
