Ridggid 18V Weed Whacker String Replacment
I wish they were weather proof because mine are exposed to salt, wind, and sand.
Don’t know much about salt but it sure handles a rain storm well. They stay on the back of my truck and everything stays dry. Even driving in rain. Thanks for the comment
Where is the tym dealer in west tn? Im in brighton and in the market
Yorkville TN. Johnson Equipment. He’s on FB also. Thanks for the comment
Thanks for taking the time to post a video showing what this tool can do. It would be much more effective for you, and put much less stress on the electric motor, if you lift up every few seconds as it is spinning to help evacuate the dirt out of the holes. When you just muscle straight down without lifting up occasionally, the extra dirt left in the whole while boring keeps extra unnecessary pressure squeezing on the bit, which puts extra strain on, and more heat into, the electric motor, which shortens the life of the motor. Your dirt was mostly dry and flaky, so you were able to get away with doing it without lifting, but if it was more gummy clay it would've made it very difficult, and very hard on your fairly expensive auger. The other advantage of lifting occasionally is that you don't have to strain as much against the tool trying to twist out of your hands. Less fatigue at the end of the day, and tools lasting longer, especially the expensive ones, is always a good thing. Ridgid's Lifetime Service Agreement would repair or replace the tool if the motor burns up. But, that still causes weeks of down time, unable to use the tool. It's better to not ever need the LSA, and just keep on running smoothly. Have a great day.
Thanks for the tips my friend! I’ll give it a whirl!
My string broke inside. I couldn’t unlock it and when I finally did. A piece of plastic broke. Can I put a replacement head on this trimmer?
Not sure. I have found that taking it all apart is very difficult. Might be a question for the ridgid FB groups
The blower is great for cleaning gutters, driveway, and sidewalk. But I bag my grass, and only have pines, so I haven't needed it for grass or leaves.
Agreed, it definitely has its place! Thanks for commenting!!
THANKS FOR THE VID. WANTED TO "GET AN IDEA" ON THIS RACK, BEFORE AN ACTUAL PURCHASE. MADE MY DECISION, and HEADED TO "THE HARBOR"!
Thanks for the comment and the kind words. Enjoy your purchase. I sure did
Was that ever easy! I zip tied the orange tool to the extra string so that it does not get misplaced.
Thanks for the comment.. good idea!!
“Orange 🍊 is Better”. Amen to that. I’ve been converting all my tools to orange. I’ve got ridgid power tools, Husqavarna outdoor stuff, fiskars hammers & another brand for hand tools. And I threw away all my buckets and replaced them with Home Depot buckets 😂
I’m right there with ya.. that’s kinda why I started buying atlas outdoor tools before ridgid started making them! Thanks for the comment my friend. Keep keeping it Orange!!!🍊
terrible video.. delete this.. how do you take it apart?
You just gotta be a man lol 😂 I’ll be posting a follow up video soon. Thanks for the comment
This is a major flaw!!! I own $1000’s in rigid cordless tools. ZERO complaints. Until this piece of ish 💯
Honest review. Thanks for the info
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the comment
Hell yeah brother
👍🏽💪🏽🕺🏻. Thanks for the comment
7/8 in deck? That would be almost an inch thick my brotha...
That was a brain fart my friend.. I’ve been reprimanded for it already 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for the comment though
Thanks. The comparison to a gas saw is all I needed to know. Will do anything I'm going to do. Sick of trying to start my gas saw.
I’m right there with ya. I’m not logging for a living. So this will do me just fine. Thanks for the comment.
This was helpful, but you missed the MOST IMPORTANT step - the arrow on the orange section must be lined up with the outer arrows on the black section. If you don’t do that, it won’t thread. I figured that out after your video gave me a start, so thank you for the info!
You’re absolutely right!! Can’t believe I didn’t mention that 🤦🏻♂️ thanks for commenting!! 😁
Thanks. I was getting frustrated.
Just yesterday, my nextdoor neighbor asked me how to change the string on her Rigid. The problem was that she had the remnants of her old string in the head - the new string wouldn't go through the holes. How do you open up the head to remove the remnants of the old string?
It does twist apart. It’s tough but it does twist to unlock.. time for a follow up video lol. Thanks for the comments
@@westtnliving2222 Thanks, so there are no secret buttons one has to push? Her Rigid is almost brand new, just used up her original spool of string.
I believe so! I’ll get back to ya asap
When the string breaks inside… that’s when you need a fresh can of gas ….. and a match!!!! 🔥🔥😉
@@PhillipPaul-lu1nv LOL!!! Why dies it have to be a FRESH can? 😁
Good job brother! 👍 Hope your advice is taken to heart by the watchers. Love this channel
Thats kind of you bro! I sure appreciate it
With yeti rtic all rotomolded cooler big cooler not a lot of space 😂😂😂😂 this is good.
True that!. Thanks for the comment
God Bless your heart son! I was scratching my head for the last hour trying to figure this out. Never thought to check the instructions (which is where I found that tool you talk about here).
It can be frustrating! Hope this helped!! Thanks for the comment!!
Nice video and editing. I have a 3rd gen Cummins 2wd with an 8’ bed that’s beat up, but still pretty solid. I’d love to fabricate a flatbed for it at some point.
Thanks my friend! Go for it, I wish I had the ability to make my own bed!! Do it and make a video so we can all see it!! Thanks for the comment
You are right.....99% of people these days will not use the phone it's text or nothing !
I like to texting but it don’t replace a call or better yet, face to face business! Thanks for the comment
Don't Buy. TYM Corporation Doesn't support after sales needs by customers. 9 weeks tractor down, NO PARTS. TYM Corporation Doesn't Care. Have a useless T574.
Sry to hear that my friend.. that sounds awful. Thankfully my dealer still gives a rip. Thanks for commenting btw
Good advice. Im retired & people still call knowing Im retired. I charge a price saying Im retired (high) and they still have me come out. So I take a young man with and try to pass on my knowledge to them. God Bless
Thanks for the comment! I feel like that things mentioned in my video are a lost art. I’m glad my dad taught me to be old school!!
Not true at all, I’m 23 in central Florida and I’m a welder/ fabricator and woodworker making high end products and I haven’t able to find consistent work ever! People need the work done but don’t want to pay fairly for it so they just won’t do it or will do it themselves. Especially as all this technology gets easier to use and more affordable more boomers and gen x with money would rather do it themselves and spend 2x more than pay someone to have it done. I see it first hand from close family and relatives, it’s disgusting. There should be an incentive to put money into younger peoples hands so that it can stimulate the economy and keep it going unlike whatever shit show is happening now all over the country.
If you undercut the prices of big weld, you'll get business.
Thanks for the comment!
Hey, I'm also in West Tennessee and thinking about starting a business. Good advice all around, hope to hear more.
Thanks for the comment. If I can be a help to ya, let me know!!
Good job James
Thanks for the comment cuz. I hope people get the message
Thanks for the very helpful review. (I wouldn’t want it to run on only one battery, because they would need to raise price to build it to run on both 18v & 36-volt.)
Great point, I was thinking it could run on one 18v battery for a short time like the 18v tank air compressor they have. Thanks for the comment!!
That thing is SWEET!!!! You know there's a lot of times that I would use that on earlier mornings In residential areas because of the quietness Awesome
Yea man,, I know you all would use the hound dog outta one of these!!!
Your’e a stud! Been using this weed wacker for 6 months and you saved me from continuing to loose my mind
I sure appreciate the support,, thanks for watching and especially commenting. It’s really helps my channel!!
Thank you for a good video - it clearly explained my dilemma of re-loading sring on my Rigid 18V Grass Trimmer -Thanks!!
I’m glad it could be a help to you. Thanks so much for the comment.
Great info!
Thanks for the comment!!!
Good video brother 👍 I really like your caulking gun. Do you ever use your Milwaukee m12 tin cutter, or is just simpler to use your shears? Appreciate the video's bro.
For cutting the hole for the pipe sorry.lol
I sure do,, I was just demonstrating the hand shear cause not everyone has one. The M12 nibbler is my first choice 😉
Looks like a hillbilly way to do it you need to use stepped flashing
Thanks for the compliment 👍🏽
@@westtnliving2222 What are you going to do when the silicone breaks down
@@westtnliving2222 Seems like has to be a lot better.I fixed boot with silicone sealer on the top
It makes a whole lot more sense than using step flashing.
That hole in the roof is triple sealed. It will never leak. Holy crap. And who the freaking heck uses step flashing on a metal roof??? Uhh no one. Research a lil better next time @userbillsucksroofing…. A silicone sealer ummm do you put that on with a brush? How the heck… I don’t even know.
I was thinking about using the “cooler/lunch” box to prevent the extreme heat and cold from messing with the batteries if I leave it in the truck. Not that it really matters with ridgid they literally mail you a new one for free if it dies but still. Im looking for a solution for this problem I think I’m gonna copy your system
Go for it, my friend. The only problem I see with the system so far is the overheating if the lid is closed completely shut. I plan on posting a video soon of some upgrades that I would’ve done from the beginning. I’m gonna be putting some kind of a fan or event in the box somewhere. Stay tuned. Thanks for the comment
Great video Bro! Useful information
Thanks my friend!!! Miss you guys
Sweet, ive got some old cans that the spouts are junk. Time to overhaul them. Thanks
Glad to help, thanks for the comment
Bless God!!!
An alternative to the screw or even the provided vent device is to get a valve stem (preferably a short one) drill the appropriate size hole to install it (from the inside is easier) and remove the core out of the neck and save the cap. You can vent both when filling and when dispensing.
Never thought of that!!! I’d love to try it! Thanks for the comment!
Is it brushless?
Great question 🤣 thanks for the comment 💪🏽
ToughBuilt tools are great! Have you had a chance to try the bull nose straight shears?
Not yet. I’d like to get them though! What is a good application for them? Thanks for the comment
didnt realize it was that easy. how much string can it hold?
Not sure on the exact amount, it hold 6’ real nice like. I have noticed that it don’t want to feed well if the string is to thick. Which is an obvious observation 🤦🏻♂️ lol.. thanks for the comment!
The manual says 16'
Wow, great video. Simple, to the point, the best kind of video there is!
Thanks my friend!!! I really appreciate that. Thanks for the comment
What about chain sprockets? I know you can order them from HF but. time and I don't know the cost. I would like to convert it to a floating sprocket like my gas saws but I doubt that is possible.
That’s a little over my head to be honest. Id love to shed some light on that but I’d probably lead you astray lol. Thanks for the comment though!!
Looking at the 5835R really was hoping for a cab but they haven’t come out yet.
I have really enjoyed the cab. I’m gonna be doing a pros and cons video soon! Thanks for the comment
yeeehaawww
👍🏽💪🏽🕺🏻
I just bought one the other day and thankfully it was just on the shelf. I don't like the lack of a handle and the weight but I do love having the organization for when I go doing my action figure photography.
Thanks for the comment,, I agree with you %100
Good video
Thanks for the visit
My dad bought his at the age of 88. He wanted something easy to use on small trees. It worked great for him for what he wanted it for. He said it would last about 30 min, which is all he had the energy for himself. He wouldn't recommend it for serious wood cutting, though.
I would agree with that, It works for what I use it for, but it is not an every day saw. Thanks for the comment.!!
I have a 12" WORX cordless chainsaw and I hope to buy the Atlas 16" cordless chainsaw. The WORX batteries (it uses 2 20V) take approx 1 hr and 40 mins to recharge fully. Do you know how long your 80V battery takes to recharge?
I bought the cheapest charger, it takes awhile.. if you spend a little more money, the rapid charger will charge in like 30 mins or so….. so I’m told! Thanks for the comment
that’s real nice but I wish it would’ve had a handle like all the other ones do ,, I don’t get it I totally would’ve bought one but it doesn’t have the handle to take on a little job or something whoever made that decision blew a lot of sales
I’m not giddy about the handle at all! It makes it a little cumbersome to move around. Thanks for the comment!
What do you do when string breaks off on one side but the spool is full
That literally happened to me today. I took it all apart, pulled the string out and re-thread it. It was a pain in the butt. Thanks for the comment.
Can you do a video to show us
@@westtnliving2222 Happen to me today and I can't line up arrows to unlock.
I came out of a small Kubota, to this same tractor you have. No problems thus far, and got a lot of tractor for the money. Thanks for posting your video.
Glad it works for you! I absolutely love mine
