The printer is unusable, after 2 to 3 years after only a few thousand pages the error message appears that the cleaning sponge needs to be replaced! And the error message must be reset in the software. Only Epson can do that, and you don't get a reset code by email. In the EU, "maintenance" costs around € 120, a cheek. Anyone who prints a lot should use an office laser.
my update: Love it ! just had a few white lines did print nozzle clean 2 times 3 min each, fixed it. test print says since 1/2/2021 I have printed 2,104 pages. most of these are 4x6 cards. my ink has only dropped 1/2" , the window is 1.9" tall. can not express how much better this printer is & how easy & completely mess free filling is. I only filled it once & did not spill a drop. I really love TH-cam & posters like you, taking the time to do these videos help people out a great deal more then you likely even know :)
Some friendly feedback, I would have liked to see you test the colour quality on the prints, I feel that's a massive, if not the most important factor when reviewing a printer.

We use Epson commercial printers at my work they literally run all day, the terminal I work has about 15 of them in one 24 hr period we go through 75 reams of paper been using them for about 5 years rarely have a problem other than a occasional paper jam. If the home units are half the quality should last for many years. I purchased the 2760 prints from phone tablet or pc works great.
You didn't notice or mention that after the initialization, the process used quite a bit of ink. The ink that was left over in the bottles will just about be gone now after you refill the tanks.
Epson should make it clearer in their manual about the little bit of "extra" in the bottle after filling for the first time. That "extra" ink is for topping off AFTER the printer had primed up the ink in the printer. So it was all calculated by Epson. I saw a bunch of videos on the Epson EcoTank, and everyone thinks that gave us some extra ink.
If you are getting one of these ET-2720 printers just know that if you don't print every day or so you will soon have a clogged printer. The ink evidently dries up very quickly. So I have found out!

Printers lost my continued ink sales years ago. I used to buy bulk ink in bottles and inject my cartridges as the replacement was very expensive. The past few years I've been using a flexible hose kit that runs from outside my printer that I can fill up the cartridge without opening the printer and I can see the levels. Idea's came from China back in 2008. They have been using this type of system for many years now.

just watched this & 3 month video GREAT JOB !!! I just bought printer & refill using your links on amazon, was going to buy on amazon anyway, hope the little $$ they give you helps out & you make more videos :) I have been refilling my cannon for about 1 year, it works but often I print 100-300 4x6 cards at a time & sometimes only prints 10 then I need to tear cannon 241 apart, remove sponges & do the hot water spraying to completely clean then reload. got tired on it & started looking at the TANK type :) came across your video, this will save me a ton of time! refills are $19 right now thx again

@@TomDeCicco all up & running ! I print a ton of 4x6 size & took a bit of playing with setting to get them to print. But....it works great. My cannon never has printed as bright & clear as this thing. That was the biggest surprise & was not expecting that at all :) thx again
i got scared it might overflow so pulled out early (thats what she said) but when it drains the ink in to fill up the hoses during warm up cycle, it will go down a little and then you can drain the rest in. would be hell if you mixed the inks up and the only way to drain out the system would be to print a thousand prints... i got the one with out a sceen but had a lager front door hatch to see the inner workings and maybe grab hold of jammed paper.

I bought the cannon g3260 TRASH spent 1 week trying to call them to have them hang up or take too long to answer I could not connect it to Wi-Fi. And if I did it would disconnect . Right now I’m hooking up the Spain et2720 fingers crossed 🤞
You should print regularly with these kinds of printers because the print head will dry out. Print something at least once a week using all colors especially colored.
Kind of like it that a bit is left, the moment your ink is finished (of course i do not pay attention to order in time) you kan still print by emptying the last bit and order your ink.
The last little bit of ink is actually there to fill immediately after the printhead & hoses are primed.. there will be no leftover ink once you setup.

However I'm having problems setting up the WIFI so I can print some stuff of my Phone & Tablet. I just cant get my head around it, for instance on the screen it's asking for a password (where do you get that from ?) Any information you can offer will be most appreciated
Sorry for the delay. But, a. wifi- password is the same you would use to sign on via a computer. It's a little tedious to type it in on the printer, but it should work. Hope that helps.
I really came here to see how easy it was to scan, copy, to setup WiFi printing, scanning, is it possible to print on both sides of the sheet without manual intervention…
I raged at my HP printer and bought this. The first two cons are definitely the screen size and overall the setup is still very long etc. They have a ton of apps you can use but I don't know, I think more functions out of the box wouldve been better. If I wasn't lazy I'd return it and buy a version with better software/screen size etc. For example, when entering wifi, you gotta dial in all the letters with arrows scrolling through the entire alphabet. Major pain. But time will tell if this thing was worth 200 bucks.
Ive owned it about 3 months now, and use it daily... i can say it's very close to paying or itself... ink cartridges were roughing me $50 a month.... so crazy!... I hope you like yours. I love mine. 🤙

I bought 10 of these printers for my photographers and come to find out they are good for home and office but can't be moved to different locations on a daily basis. Regardless of how careful you are, this printer is awful when you don't use it often and when you clean the head it fills up the ink pad and renders the printer useless.

9:28 from what I saw in a nother video review, the notches in the different color bottle tops are designed to make it "impossible" to do this. (I'm sure you could find a way to circumvent that protection though)
@@TomDeCicco I now know that you can't. Or at least you can but not officially! The maintenance box is a box filled with foam that takes the waste ink from cleans etc. Once it is full - or the printer thinks it is full - the printer will no longer work. I'd make sure to print at least twice a week to avoid doing cleans. I went for a different model in the end.
How was it right now? I just got it today, and I noticed that it used a lot of ink when the initialization process was done. Is this the same case for you?
Not really. Since this video, i have used this printer nearly everyday for documents and shipping labels, and the black tank is down the most by 1/4th.
The initialization uses quite a bit of ink to fill all of the lines running inside the machine etc. - That is why the bottles come with more ink than needed - if you place the bottles onto the machine again after initializing it will refill the reservoirs completely and then you can throw the bottles of ink away !
We have been sold out of these printers at my Staples store since March. We haven't got a single on in stock since then. They were a great sell and I sold them all to our customers and they have loved them. Just sucks because I could have bought one and used my discount lol.
I wonder how these things hold up over time. I bought one and haven't been able to print a single page. I know its my fault. After I did the initial setup, I got busy and let the printer sit for 3 weeks without use. That was it. I should have went with Canon's version because the print heads are replaceable.
Hey Tom, I’m not sure if you would have the info. I want to print on card stock, and the gentlemen at Staples said I might have to adjust the printer for the thickness of the card stock, would this be true or would no adjustments be needed? TY Tom in advance

Can I set this up to print wirelessly if I don’t have a WiFi network? IE Dorm Room where I don’t want everyone to see my printer and bug me all the time to let them print.
I'm pretty sure you can't print wirelessly without wi-fi connected. But, you are still able to print wired with it. 🤷♂️ ...Or just charge people 50 cents a page, you'll have enough money to buy a 30-pack of Keystone Light in no time. 👍 🍻
If I only bought the black ink for this printer do you think it would be ok or would I have to also buy the coloured ones too ( I don’t really need the coloured ones)
Hey Tom! please help me to figure out how to print 5 x 7" greeting cards, I just both the ET-3710 and I've having hard time, every time that I sent a file to print it shows the next message: "The Paper Size and type set in cassette does not match specified Print Settings" I previously set up on the printer the size of the paper, but still I have this problem, so I have to select again the size of the paper every single time. I'm printing from a MacBook Air laptop.
I wish I could help, but i've never tried to print 5x7. So, beyond adjusting the back paper tray & making aure the printer/computer setting know you want to print a 5x7 image, I D K what else it could be? sorry. 🤷♂️

@@TomDeCicco Yeah man. They are $350 for a double side printer which I cannot afford. Unfortunately, I will not buy this model because of that. Why would Epson label something as "eco" friendly and not make it "eco" friendly. Sounds like a big scam to me, but then again, I worked retail for 22 years in electronics and if doesn't make money big business(es) don't want it! They want a stable repeat customer. This has been proven.
Also, I should point out that the Canon BJC-6000 ink jet printer was the first printer that I sold that had multiple ink that was separate. They told me the ink was going to be way low in price...but I always had to buy the yellow ink because it either expired was solid because I used it so little. I paid around $150 because I had an employee rebate on it but it was useless because I always had to buy the ink still in bulk. They need to make a printer that the ink does not go bad!
@@michladd24 Yea. I am really enjoying the Et-2720 so far. I print everyday and love that i can visually see the levels going down as jobs are finished. I can't imagine ever going back to a traditional cartridge printer.
I got this printer today and I grabbed the wrong bottle and realized they are keyed to each section so you cannot put the wrong color in the wrong spot. Fool proof!
just to say the ink left in the bottles after it done the setup pot in the extra ink back into the printer. the first time it loads the ink into the printer just add the extra ink after its all finish
Any advice for a printer with the refillable liquid ink that can print pictures with card stock as well as doing regular printing jobs well? Epson expression? I've seen mixed reviews. Any other brands doing the refill option?
I know Canon has some cartridge-less printers also, i have never used them, but i assume they are similar. I also don't know of any mid-range printers that can print of card stock, many printers are only able to be used with 20lb paper, and not 110+lb paper (like cardstock) Hope that helps!

So just something that does that well! And other sizes. Not sure if you need "card stock" for that. I am not well versed in that world

And it's in the right price range ..I am looking for around 250/300 dollar range..I just feel with a cheapo cartridge printer I'll easily spend that much anyway in less than a month! For me, a printer is something I only think about during school or special events so I feel like many people are the same way so there's not a ton of helpful videos on the web with info. And if refillable ink saves tons of money in the long run more people need to know about them. Thanks again
Tom, I'm deciding on this one now, I currently have the epson WF-3540 and hate it. Not to mention very expensive to replace the color cartridges for it! Has this been a good ptr for you? Would you still recommend it?? It wouldn't get used very much, but when it does, I want it to work for me.
FWIW- just purchased and successfully set up a similar product (Epson EcoTank 2760- supposedly a higher model). I am shocked at how terribly washed out all the colors appear, particularly red. I ran a nozzle check and everything is perfect. Setup and installation was easy. But the color quality is baffling. I've tried printing the same image from Adobe, GIMP, Gravit, Windows Picture Viewer, etc. Same terrible results every time. I did my homework (reviews, TH-cam, etc.) on this printer and no where can I find mention of this problem. I am bringing this back tomorrow without hesitation. I know from past experience that the exact same image printed on an HP Office Jet 3830 Series printer produced more accurate, vibrant colors compared to the on screen image, for half the price. I thought moving into the non-cartridge world would be proactive, but this is a joke.
I haven't really experimented with the print quality in color on my machine, it's mostly for documents. But I will definitely do so when i revisit the printer for a follow up review. Thanks.

I'm frustrated with this printer. I spent 30 minutes on hold with Epson to learn how to enlarge an image on the printer. I could hardly understand him. I increased the size to 140%. But that is still too small. I cannot change the %. How can I increase up to 160% and then return to normal size? Please tell me you know how to do this? thanks for any help.
Wait until you get one of their ERROR messages, which is intentionally coded obsolescence, which disables the printer and you're forced to buy a new one cause they don't want to fix them due to the cost.
@@TomDeCicco ... Apparently, they have a couple of different errors, ones the ink pad inside the printer, another is I'm lol forgetting. But anyway, from my research it appears they've intentionally coded the machines to obsolete themselves after a certain amount of prints. I've discovered the same issue occurring for Canon's MegaTank or whatever. So, after tons of research, I've just went with a $399 Brother Lazer Printer (though it's weird they have the Duplex for the same price as the non-duplex one, anyway though, apparently it's good enough in general), for which I'll cheat and use refill bottles to refill the toner when they get low. Also, the model I'm getting apparently I have to disable the Firmware update, cause it had the ability to reset the system so you could use ALL of your toner, a problem Brothers have had forever screwing customers. Anyway, it seems Printer company's find every way they can to screw their customers, rather than being moral actors. But, at least the brothers apparently don't have the Inkjet Tank issues, and just inkjet period, laser has always been more reliable.

I have the earlier ET-2600. I got it about 4 years ago and its by far the best printer I ever owned, and the most economical.

The last little bit of ink is actually there to fill immediately after the printhead & hoses are primed.. there will be no leftover ink once you setup.

However I'm having problems setting up the WIFI so I can print some stuff of my Phone & Tablet. I just cant get my head around it, for instance on the screen it's asking for a password (where do you get that from ?) Any information you can offer will be most appreciated
Sorry for the delay. But, a. wifi- password is the same you would use to sign on via a computer. It's a little tedious to type it in on the printer, but it should work. Hope that helps.

I really came here to see how easy it was to scan, copy, to setup WiFi printing, scanning, is it possible to print on both sides of the sheet without manual intervention…
I raged at my HP printer and bought this. The first two cons are definitely the screen size and overall the setup is still very long etc. They have a ton of apps you can use but I don't know, I think more functions out of the box wouldve been better. If I wasn't lazy I'd return it and buy a version with better software/screen size etc. For example, when entering wifi, you gotta dial in all the letters with arrows scrolling through the entire alphabet. Major pain.
But time will tell if this thing was worth 200 bucks.
Ive owned it about 3 months now, and use it daily... i can say it's very close to paying or itself... ink cartridges were roughing me $50 a month.... so crazy!... I hope you like yours. I love mine. 🤙

I bought 10 of these printers for my photographers and come to find out they are good for home and office but can't be moved to different locations on a daily basis. Regardless of how careful you are, this printer is awful when you don't use it often and when you clean the head it fills up the ink pad and renders the printer useless.
Hey man, what a great video! I'm about to buy this printer and was wondering if it still prints when one of the tanks is empty? If I want to print plain black text, then why would it bother if yellow is empty? Does it? Thank you!

9:28 from what I saw in a nother video review, the notches in the different color bottle tops are designed to make it "impossible" to do this. (I'm sure you could find a way to circumvent that protection though)

The maintenance box is a box filled with foam that takes the waste ink from cleans etc.
Once it is full - or the printer thinks it is full - the printer will no longer work.
I'd make sure to print at least twice a week to avoid doing cleans.
I went for a different model in the end.
Now I know which printer I am going to immediately buy! Love the tests and details you give icle thanks.
You should buy 2, just for safety sake.

How was it right now? I just got it today, and I noticed that it used a lot of ink when the initialization process was done. Is this the same case for you?
Not really. Since this video, i have used this printer nearly everyday for documents and shipping labels, and the black tank is down the most by 1/4th.
The initialization uses quite a bit of ink to fill all of the lines running inside the machine etc. - That is why the bottles come with more ink than needed - if you place the bottles onto the machine again after initializing it will refill the reservoirs completely and then you can throw the bottles of ink away !

We have been sold out of these printers at my Staples store since March. We haven't got a single on in stock since then. They were a great sell and I sold them all to our customers and they have loved them. Just sucks because I could have bought one and used my discount lol.

What can I do if my colours are full but not printing? I’ve cleaned nozzles and print head a few times.
I wonder how these things hold up over time. I bought one and haven't been able to print a single page. I know its my fault. After I did the initial setup, I got busy and let the printer sit for 3 weeks without use. That was it. I should have went with Canon's version because the print heads are replaceable.

Hey Tom, I’m not sure if you would have the info. I want to print on card stock, and the gentlemen at Staples said I might have to adjust the printer for the thickness of the card stock, would this be true or would no adjustments be needed? TY Tom in advance
I tried doing my own research on this and I believe this printer can only take 20lb paper. No cardstock (or 110lb paper)

Can I set this up to print wirelessly if I don’t have a WiFi network? IE Dorm Room where I don’t want everyone to see my printer and bug me all the time to let them print.
I'm pretty sure you can't print wirelessly without wi-fi connected. But, you are still able to print wired with it. 🤷♂️
...Or just charge people 50 cents a page, you'll have enough money to buy a 30-pack of Keystone Light in no time. 👍 🍻

Yes you can buy and refill only the black ink. I have never seen one of the other colors sold separately.

Hey Tom! please help me to figure out how to print 5 x 7" greeting cards, I just both the ET-3710 and I've having hard time, every time that I sent a file to print it shows the next message: "The Paper Size and type set in cassette does not match specified Print Settings" I previously set up on the printer the size of the paper, but still I have this problem, so I have to select again the size of the paper every single time. I'm printing from a MacBook Air laptop.
I wish I could help, but i've never tried to print 5x7. So, beyond adjusting the back paper tray & making aure the printer/computer setting know you want to print a 5x7 image, I D K what else it could be? sorry. 🤷♂️

@@TomDeCicco Yeah man. They are $350 for a double side printer which I cannot afford. Unfortunately, I will not buy this model because of that. Why would Epson label something as "eco" friendly and not make it "eco" friendly. Sounds like a big scam to me, but then again, I worked retail for 22 years in electronics and if doesn't make money big business(es) don't want it! They want a stable repeat customer. This has been proven.
Also, I should point out that the Canon BJC-6000 ink jet printer was the first printer that I sold that had multiple ink that was separate. They told me the ink was going to be way low in price...but I always had to buy the yellow ink because it either expired was solid because I used it so little. I paid around $150 because I had an employee rebate on it but it was useless because I always had to buy the ink still in bulk. They need to make a printer that the ink does not go bad!

I got this printer today and I grabbed the wrong bottle and realized they are keyed to each section so you cannot put the wrong color in the wrong spot. Fool proof!

just to say the ink left in the bottles after it done the setup pot in the extra ink back into the printer. the first time it loads the ink into the printer just add the extra ink after its all finish

Any advice for a printer with the refillable liquid ink that can print pictures with card stock as well as doing regular printing jobs well? Epson expression? I've seen mixed reviews. Any other brands doing the refill option?
I know Canon has some cartridge-less printers also, i have never used them, but i assume they are similar. I also don't know of any mid-range printers that can print of card stock, many printers are only able to be used with 20lb paper, and not 110+lb paper (like cardstock)

@@TomDeCicco looks like its either epson or canon for me! The canon options so far look good like the mega tank PIXMA. It can do pictures! And it's in the right price range ..I am looking for around 250/300 dollar range..I just feel with a cheapo cartridge printer I'll easily spend that much anyway in less than a month! Appreciate you taking the time to put some info on TH-cam about these things. For me, a printer is something I only think about during school or special events so I feel like many people are the same way so there's not a ton of helpful videos on the web with info. And if refillable ink saves tons of money in the long run more people need to know about them. Thanks again

FWIW- just purchased and successfully set up a similar product (Epson EcoTank 2760- supposedly a higher model). I am shocked at how terribly washed out all the colors appear, particularly red. I ran a nozzle check and everything is perfect. Setup and installation was easy. But the color quality is baffling. I've tried printing the same image from Adobe, GIMP, Gravit, Windows Picture Viewer, etc. Same terrible results every time. I did my homework (reviews, TH-cam, etc.) on this printer and no where can I find mention of this problem. I am bringing this back tomorrow without hesitation. I know from past experience that the exact same image printed on an HP Office Jet 3830 Series printer produced more accurate, vibrant colors compared to the on screen image, for half the price. I thought moving into the non-cartridge world would be proactive, but this is a joke.
I haven't really experimented with the print quality in color on my machine, it's mostly for documents. But I will definitely do so when i revisit the printer for a follow up review. Thanks.

What happens if you accidentally fill wrong color?
It wont let you, diffrent shaped heads.
I'm frustrated with this printer. I spent 30 minutes on hold with Epson to learn how to enlarge an image on the printer. I could hardly understand him. I increased the size to 140%. But that is still too small. I cannot change the %. How can I increase up to 160% and then return to normal size? Please tell me you know how to do this? thanks for any help.

Wait until you get one of their ERROR messages, which is intentionally coded obsolescence, which disables the printer and you're forced to buy a new one cause they don't want to fix them due to the cost.
What do you think causes the error?... time or prints?
@@TomDeCicco ... Apparently, they have a couple of different errors, ones the ink pad inside the printer, another is I'm lol forgetting. But anyway, from my research it appears they've intentionally coded the machines to obsolete themselves after a certain amount of prints. I've discovered the same issue occurring for Canon's MegaTank or whatever. So, after tons of research, I've just went with a $399 Brother Lazer Printer (though it's weird they have the Duplex for the same price as the non-duplex one, anyway though, apparently it's good enough in general), for which I'll cheat and use refill bottles to refill the toner when they get low. Also, the model I'm getting apparently I have to disable the Firmware update, cause it had the ability to reset the system so you could use ALL of your toner, a problem Brothers have had forever screwing customers. Anyway, it seems Printer company's find every way they can to screw their customers, rather than being moral actors. But, at least the brothers apparently don't have the Inkjet Tank issues, and just inkjet period, laser has always been more reliable.
I appreciate the in-depth comment. I hope other people can see it and find value in it. I think i will too (eventually) move to something more industrial, with the hopes it'll last me until i die. 😂
