- In this video I try to enhance my editing and story telling with commentary and explanation on former Odd Future member and R&B artist, Frank Ocean. From his mysterious acts of finesse, (especially with Def jam) his strange entrepreneurship actions, how he treats his fans, and even recently with his acts at Coachella in 2023. Frank Ocean isn't exactly the best person in certain aspects. Tyler The Creator just might have it more figured out than frank, but frank ocean's actions can be justified in a way.

LIfe is just strange. Frank looked like the most down to earth member while Tyler was the wild one back in the OF days. Now Tyler became a honest and reliable artist and Frank is just nowhere to found.

@@vic3586That’s true. That’s not what’s wrong here. It’s a lack of proper communication (which fans DO deserve), and of a real performance at Coachella, which people paid lots of money for and he was CONTRACTED to do. The fans aren’t entitled to new music, but they deserved a good performance.
At the end of the day, you don’t have to stop listening to his music or liking him.
But you do have to be able to acknowledge that what he did was really shitty.

There were people going to Coachella week 2 that only went to see Frank ocean, and flew across the country, spending 1000s of dollars.
Just for him not to even appear at the second week.
He scammed his fans. If he didn’t want to/didn’t think he could perform, don’t, pull out of the event before people buy tickets/when you can still refund tickets.
The decision he made was really shitty, and there is no level of meat riding that can bend this into not being shitty.
This is unironically some Kanye shit Frank just pulled, and at least Kanye had the littlest bit of decency to pull out 3 weeks before Coachella, where Frank pulled out in the middle of his first show.

The issue is you can only do that by doing what Frank has done since blonde, scam everybody outs of their money, the label, by half assing a fake album to get out of a contract and go independent and drop the real album with his own deal making fuck tons of money, scamming rich people with absolutely ridiculously priced pendants and jewelry that no one would buy if it didn’t have his name in it, and scam his fans by agreeing to headline a concert he knew he would not be able to perform properly.
If Frank hadn’t done these things, he would still be in a contract making music, or he would have to get a regular job.
I don’t really blame the guy for the first 2 fuck predatory labels and fuck rich people who buy diamond encrusted cock rings because they can, but to stoop to the level to do it to your fans is just reprehensible in my opinion.
Again, his music is great, he has a fantastic voice and does a great job expressing himself through music, and if you like the person he is in his music, don’t let me ruin that for you.
Just remember to admit his faults, and understand he is not a god, but a broken and complicated person capable of shitty things.

I was such a huge frank ocean fan for over a decade and in the last year or two I’ve stopped caring about whether or not he does anything ever again. Even before what happened with his brother, I don’t think he saw his fans as important. I was surprised but didn’t trip when they said he would perform at coachella, because I knew he would either pull out or just be doing some weird shit he cooked up. I certainly didn’t expect both of those things to happen. It’s sad, but the only way to not feel forgotten as a long time frank ocean fan is to stop being one.
