- the grammys have a problem… problems that seem far to late to fix anymore and therefore have turned an awards show created to celebrate artistic achievements into a corrupt and corporate event. in this video i go over the issues and discuss my views on the 2024 grammys along with going over events from previous years that prove that the grammys are essentially meaningless today in music.

with tyler the creator and other artists who are black, its clear that doing something genre bending will just result in being placed in the "urban" category. the grammies also are known for being very shady with the nominating process and having favourites within the company. yeah, the grammies dont mean shit anymore.
I feel like the grammies are no longer a thing that people take to seriously anymore because of the absurdity of their picks. THIS is so true. People forget how furious people were when the Grammies completely snubbed After Hours. That was definitely the year I realized the Grammies totally ignore Black artistry and so I just stopped caring

@ankitapandey3703 Agreed. I'll say that the Grammys held more weight and were of higher value at the time MJ won his but in retrospect, yeah... given the show's sordid history of snubs and out of touch decision making on who wins or even who gets nominated, the Grammys really don't matter.

I love Taylor but midnights didn’t deserve to win. There were like ten other albums that deserved it more and honestly the Grammys is so stupid. Utopia had over a billion streams in like a month and it was honestly the most sonically pleasing of all the other rap albums. Taylor didn’t deserve to win and the only reason she did was because of the tour she did. I like her and I have since I was little but the way every other artist bows to her stupid throne is so annoying

I’m a Taylor Swift fan and even I don’t agree with her grammy win this year. Midnights is not a revolutionary piece of art whatsoever. However, I have to disagree with your opinion on 1989. It was a very consistent, pop album that influenced the music industry.
Great point. Some of her wins are very deserved and some aren’t
fair, 1989 is one of Taylors best, im not huge on her music but i know how influential that album is and how influential she is and i have no problem with her. Kendricks album still holds today as probably the best hip-hop albums ever made and the amount of depth and storytelling on it is unmatched. Its not just the lyrics to, the production is just perfect as well. i cant go to much in depth on the album in a youtube comment but just listen to it yourself if you havent already.

Album of the Year should've gone to SZA. SOS was really good and tbh midnights, in my opinion, was Taylor’s weakest album. Olivia should've won Best Pop Vocal Album for GUTS her vocals were very good, especially on tracks like Teenage Dream, The Grudge, and Making the Bed. Lana and Olivia were snubbed

Let's not pretend missplacing in categories at the grammys is something that happens only with black artists. It happens with EVERYBODY. Folklore by Taylor Swift for example is not a pop album in any world, and it competed in "best pop vocal album" when in reality it should be on the folk or alternative categories... this is good for the artist btw because each genre of music is voted by especialists of that genre, so if you're a folk expert and then you see a Taylor Swift nominated in folk categories, knowing she is mainly a pop artist, you wouldn't vote for her at all lol you would be bias torwards the mainly folk acts, which is not something wrong tbh.
Yet you still watch Taylor Swift accepting her awards from your basements while you eat them Cheetos.
