    Just wanted to say thanks for this video. Finally talked my wife into playing miniature games and was going to get xwings but decided to wait til the second edition comes out. This is definitely more deep but having the app helps so we can play on the same side. You make the only video actually showing how to play with app from a complete noob point of views. Thanks!

      Hey Justin! That was the aim. Get people up to speed with using the app. The game has a barrier to entry that I hope I was able to breakdown for you. Enjoy it! This is a great one :)

    A static camera and holding the tablet and cards into the camera would be a bit better I feel. Or you can launch the app on steam and use our image database to bring cards into view. Camera shake is a bit nauseating in fullscreen.
    Otherwise cool guide!

      Rolling Solo Awesome. It’s almost too overwhelming! I had no idea how many expansions there are. How much more immersive is it owning all/some/most of the expansions? What changes and is it feasible in solo mode when you expand it further?

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a ton of content. Basically the more you have the more the enemies are randomized. In terms of gameplay, the core game and Jabba’s expansion I believe are the two tied to campaigns for solo play.

    • @hothempire
      @hothempire 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rolling Solo Thanks Adam. I’m primarily interested in starting out solo (and slowly considering you could go crazy with all the content)... core set and Hoth expansion work for solo play? ps - great to see you’re from Canada as well :)

    • @RollingSolo

      Nice! Core box and Jabbas expansion work with the app currently. Double check that though in the Imperial Assault BGG forums.

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! The app will integrate aspects of other expansions as time goes on. I believe FFG needs to wait for approvals before releasing Star Wars content. I’m sure Hoth and Janna’s content will show up in the app in the near future!

    We played the first mission last week using the app without diving into the tutorial because we had a veteran imperial assault player guiding us and another player who played the tutorial the day before ( it wasn't a good idea ) as we kept going back to the rule book a lot.
    I didn't know there was a specific rule book for the legend of the alliance.
    I didn't enjoy it by then due to one of the players not knowing what to do and it felt like he was forced to play with us ( although he warned us that co op games is not his style ) and playing the game with 4 players made the scenario really long and a bit boring. I love star wars and i played couple imperial assaults scenarios before the release of the app..so i might try it again with motivated and less players count, i will decide after watching your series of the game.

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah! Sounds like the app wasn't properly played by no fault of your own Ahmed! I hope the playthrough clears things up and shows you how it can be played solo. I can't say I'll be perfect, but I have read and re-read the Legend of the Alliance rulebook as well as played through it a number of times. Mistakes still can happen though! There is a specific rulebook for the app which is important to know and easily missed!
      That player may have been making up rules for certain situations as you guys went along? Or maybe as you mentioned it was just a case of reading the rulebook too much. I think Line of Sight is one of the most easily confused parts of the game. However, the rulebook does clearly stated how to handle each situation. Sorry to hear about your bad experience.
      Hopefully I can help you out! See you in the next one! :D

      @socaltrojan286 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well there lies the problem, can't have someone in the group that does not enjoy cooperative game play. Also, yes the app clearly states they have their own rules which to follow, knowledge of the physical game helps but with the app you must follow new rules very important when using the Imperial figures.

    • @socaltrojan286
      @socaltrojan286 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahmed Fares
      Also keep in mind the generics of the core rules from Imperial Assault are the same. Like turn orders, Rebel players activate first although there are times the app will perform an interrupt during key events. Line of sight, checking for accuracy, damage vs defense rolls and applying surge abilities.
      Having said that the few things that have changed Heroes when resting to rid of strain tokens, the player no longer heals damage from having more endurance than the amount of strain that was cleared. Players can inspect objects like doors, terminals and other tokens without having to spend an action. Each player could tap on the screen to get a brief description before deciding if he or she will commit to performing the set action of interacting with it.
      *Imperials figures*
      Any ability on the card that says (you may or choose) are ignored as there is no Imperial player and as a group you can ultimately decide amongst yourselves how the imperial figure performs set actions. The Imperial rule States the figure should act in such a way that is more of a disadvantage to the players. Like a Trooper that just shot Jyn and has the move 2 to reposition 4. He would want to try it's best to be at least 4 spaces away from Jyn, not if it means he would be in line of sight of multiple players. For this example he might go only get to be two to three distance away from Jyn but is 4 or more distance away from other hero figures.
      Remember to check on Imperial figures icon often as their abilities chance between rounds, since they no longer have access to any class cards.
      The game does not track where people are but it does a good job in prioritizing which targets imperial figures should attack.

    • @ahmedfares2017
      @ahmedfares2017 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SoCal Trojan after watching Adam's gameplay i got together with a friend of mine and played the game as 2 players, it was so much fun and engaging, i didn't know about the players not being able to heal themselves when resting so ill have to recheck the legend of the alliance rule book..thanks for the clarification.

    • @socaltrojan286
      @socaltrojan286 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahmed Fares
      The changes to healing during the rest action is do to the fact you may pick up health packs while opening crates on the map. Each health pack heals 5 points of damage. Also a player does not use an action to use a health pack. A player who chooses to take a rest action may use a health pack. Just click the icon to use a health pack. Comes in handy when you think you might be wounded. The game will still end if everyone is wounded unless the mission states otherwise.
      The combination of that makes collecting creates much more important than playing the normal game of Imperial Assault.
      Remember if one of your players' figures are adjacent of each other, you may trade items you obtained from the crates. What you might find useless to your character could be beneficial to your companions.
      Depending on how many people are playing with, I might suggest you alternate control of imperial figures. As a group you may collectively decide when an Imperial has no valid Target, which among the group best fits the criteria for that figure to engage. Typically when a hero has sustain the least amount of damage or who has the highest endurance and such.
      Glad we could be an assistance. I have been watching the videos too , I found myself still making mistakes from time to time during my playthrough of the game. So you are not alone. I am on my 5th try. :-) these videos did help answer a few things I was still questioning.
      I should also mention that I have been playing the game on the hard difficulty, no real reference as of yet posted online. Just have take what learn from other videos and try to apply it to my game.

    Does 'Rest' mean you don't move to remove strain or do you rest and do nothing for your entire turn?

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Pox! Rest is an action in Legends of the Alliance. The rulebook for it states that a hero can remove strain equal to his/her endurance when resting. Resting is considered an one action! Hope this helps. Cheers!

    Do you know if the app uses tiles from the expansions sets? Or what kind of uses get from the expansions and other packs????

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My understanding is that the tiles from expansions can show up across the missions and the dark character packs have more bang for buck in the app as they can randomly show up anytime in any scenario. Sometimes in ones they don’t belong. Whereas the light side doesn’t make use of everything unless you want more options for characters to play as. Hope this helps!

      If you have more content, you tell the app you own it and it will add it.
      It has a Hoth campaign, a Jaba campaign for the two other big boxes as well as a one shot that uses some of the others: Heart of the Empire, Bespin, Twin Shadows etc.. All the unit blisters are useable. The app is free so you can download and see what content can be added in the app before purchasing anything physical.

    Did the rebel trooper figure come with your game?

    • @RollingSolo

      I purchased a rebel trooper pack. I'd need to check whether there was a rebel trooper in the base game. I believe there is tokens in the base game for them which would make me believe I bought them separately. I have to double check when able as I'm not 100% on that!
