Keane underplaying Arsenal's defensive performance is simply ludicrous. To keep City at bay, with 10 men, with all the threats they possess going forward (centrally through the channels and out wide) is a masterstroke. The guy is just incredibly bitter and tribal about seeing his former rival flourishing and progressing so much. If defending were so easy he'd still have a job in management, his teams leaked goals.

I watched it live. City were not doing the correct things when playing 10 men. They didn't overload, overlap the wings. All the players of city were central and trying to create space for a shot, which is easy as they were telegraphing it. They slowed up as soon as they were on arsenals edge of the box

They had everyone back and City played like muppets, no one going down the wing to give an option to the furthest forward out wide, cut backs to central defenders or Kovacic when Pep should have put a ball striker in that position, more down to Pep then anything Arsenal had to do

They both let Haaland run thru them to score first half with some pretty poor defending. 2nd half they had 10 men in the box behind the ball and Haaland was marked by about 4 men and City left him stranded. It was pretty much heading practice against a quadruple-marked Haaland and midgets.

Keane is an absolute nugget, they lost a goal at the start while finding their Rhythm point taken, but from that point on they were fantastic, and then when they went down to 10 managed to deal with everything thrown at them apart from a scrappy last minute goal that was more luck than anything else..
Give em credit where credit is due, this was away to a team many would have had down to win this game by one or two goals before kick off and with both teams having a full 11 for the 90+ minutes.

Roy Keane is spot on. In December 2001 Arsenal beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield a place they had not won at for years. Van Bronckorst got sent off after 35 minutes when the scoreline was 0-0. Arsenal went 2-0 up, then conceded, but held on and won the game 2-1.
They went on to win the double that season. That was impressive.

Arsenal defended rlly rlly well for sure but Roy's right every top team in the league can defend in a compact form. Arsenal are already defensively solid so when they're asked to park the bus they're gna do it well but if u compare to other performances wirh 10 men, Liverpool went down to 10 at 1-0 down for about 70 mins away at Newcastle wirh the captain being sent off. It was Gomez and matip for a very very long time and then quansah came on near the end (for his debut I think) and they all didn't concede a goal. Liverpool ended up picking their moments playing smart and winning he game 2-1

I agree with Micah. Arsenal played exceptionally well today against the best team in the league, and arguably the best team in the world, managing to score two goals. Unfortunately, after being reduced to 10 men in the second half, they couldn’t stop John Stones’ goal in the 98th minute of extra time.
Keane, you need to reconsider your take, it doesn’t make any sense. Yes, we know you're not a fan of Arsenal, but today’s performance at the Etihad, with 10 men and still securing a 2-2 draw against Manchester City, is a solid result for both sides.

Trossard deserved a second yellow and both Arsenal goals were refereeing mistakes; pulled Walker out of position for a chat and restarted before he could get back and there was a clear foul on Ederson at the corner
