I have heard that from other people. I don't think I could go complete metric but I would like to get more familiar with it and learn it like a person would a second language. Thank you for the comment.
I feel the same way when I watch some woodworking videos. I try to show people you can make mistakes and you don't have to be perfect to build great stuff. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it.
You can use the dowel jig to center over the board when using the holes besides the 3/8...you have to put one of the front legs on the other side of the board...
Big fan of your vids so far. Little tip with dowels. You can microwave them on a paper towel on high for 30seconds to shrink them for a better fit. Maybe that will help with those unamerican measurements.
I love your videos. We all make mistakes and need to laugh and move on. A laser engraver channel would be amazing. I just got my XTool and my learning how to use it. Can I subscribe now?
Thank you, I appreciate the comment and the input. I definitely want to do a laser channel too I just need to get faster at putting out videos so I don't fall behind trying to make videos for two channels.
Way to go, nice build. Remember, no build is ever prrfect. My favorite type of joinery method is dowels, because it is super strong and can be hidden or evposed. I don't even know how many dowel jigs I have. My favorites are the dowel max and the 2 versions by Jessum. Both are from Canada and are surgically accurate. However there is a fairly new jig by Milescraft called the Joint Master. It is similar to the Chinese version you were sent. You can buy it both in Imperial and Metric. You do have to change the settings for the different configurations but they are so inexpensive, I just bought two. There are several TH-cam videos on how to set it up properly. Keep up the good work. 19:36
Thank you, I appreciate your comment. That's a good Idea to leave the sides long. My wife uses it in the middle of the couch because there's no side or anywhere to set her coffee.
if you added a small rabbet on the bottom of your side pieces, you could inset the plywood bottom so you wouldn't need to worry as much about the fibers left by the router (and also no plywood edge exposed!) I would have picked the same stain colour. maybe even a sligthly darker one possibly.
Thank you, that is a great idea. I was originally planning to do something like that but then I went with the doweled butt joint instead of a mitered joint. If I cut the rabbet you would have seen the hole at the end because I had the side pieces going all the way to the end. If I would have planned it better I could have maybe reversed the butt joint so the front and back pieces covered the sides or I should have just did a miter joint! lol I hope I was making sense! 😂😂😂

12:21 for that dowel jig, did it say that the drill guides are hardened? If not, they will wallow out and get egg shaped so your holes won’t line up perfectly. The dowelmax system has hardened guides and a lot of companies try to copy the basic design, but skimp on the quality.
