I love the little moments in Colin Farrell’s performance like 2:02 and when he nervously laughs calling Batman crazy. It’s like the penguin can’t help but respect Batman’s relentlessness but he’s also scared shitless. I don’t think I’ve seen many interpretations where the villains are so thoroughly freaked out or blindsided by Batman.
You just blew my mind, did not know that was Colin. Many people don't like this movie. I think it was good. When the car started, they turned the volume up to 11, and the whine from the turbine just jumping around the surround gave me mad chills. Best batmobile introduction ever. I just wish they did not go for a PG rating. They where going for a darker Batman, then give us the rating it deserves, show us the angry, scary and violent Bat!...

Biggest different, from what I can tell, is the lighting. The Batman is dark, but not black. The problem with shooting dark scenes these days is actually data compression algorithms from streaming; if nearby colors are too similar, then the colors get blended together. The darker the colors, the worse the compression. The Batman’s palette is more of a gloomy grey. Like when it’s overcast at night and the light pollution illuminates the clouds a little. In the film theater, I was grinning like a madman during this entire scene, the startup sounds were extremely powerful coming trough the film theater sound system and the entire chase is a masterpiece. To the entire cast and crew and production company, YOU ARE LEGENDS!
What I really love about this scene is that when they all turned their attention to the sound. They’ve never heard any vehicle made such a sound in their lifetime; so you could imagine what was going through their minds. That vehicle had the engine sound capacity of a thousand roaring lions in perfect unison. Especially the screech it made before the engine started roaring; almost like the sound of many banshees.
I saw this in a HUGE imax theater. When that engine revved… the theater SHOOK. I had goosebumps the entire chase. It was loud and proud. I was not sold on the batmobile at first but the closer and closer the movie came to release, I warmed up to it. This whole scene solidified how BADASS it was.
I think that comes to personal preference. To me The Batman is my favorite Batman film ever, followed by The Dark Knight. Both are truly amazing films and we can all agree that whichever we prefer the most is a great choice 👍🏻
I love how the bat mobile is portrayed in this movie. It’s not just a mode of transportation. It’s purely intimidation. Where the bat mobile is usually some sort of tank, this one is sleek and stealthy. So fitting for this Batman
My favourite scene in the movie, the car being in the dark with just the blue light from the turbine and exhaust, the high pitch screeching of the turbine, the intimidation factor of the whole thing
I’m surprised a lot of people aren’t talking about how Batman is challenging Penguin in this scene. As he revs up the engine you can see Penguin getting increasingly angry at the fact that Batman is flexing on him. It’s like getting a higher grade than the smartest kid in class that can’t handle being number 2(?) Also from a narrative standpoint the the roar of the Batmobile is louder ever time the camera focuses on penguin displaying his rage at the fact he’s being outdone.
@@crabbieappleton I guess you can see it either way. I don’t see the penguin abandoning THE MONEY cause he scared but rather because he wants to settle a score with our man Vengeance over here. But again, that’s just my interpretation. I see more anger in his face then fear in the beginning but it’s subjective
@@TheShifter1001 No, dude it's pretty clear he's afraid. He's frantically driving into on going traffic, shoots at the batmobile like a madman and speeds up each time he sees Batman coming closer. I don't blame him for being afraid either. Batman atp has proven that he's legitimately insane and is not a joke.
@@crabbieappleton scared is a strong word. I would say intimidated, as well as frustrated. Batman is a one man army, and although Penguin has his own army of goons, it seems like Batman always has a new trick up his sleeve. I think that pause he took while seeing the car rev up was him coming to terms that this is something new that he has never dealt with before. He was trying to wrap his mind around the fact that this bozo in a bat costume is becoming an actual problem.
Watching The Penguin I kinda forgot that the Penguin had been through this. People were doubting him even though he had survived The Batman and that makes him winning all the more satisfying. They underestimated him
My God, that first scene with the Batmobile being introduced had me leaping out of my seat. Easily one of the most kick-ass Batmobiles ever, and it'll be a long time before anything beats the Holy-Mother-of-God factor of its introduction.
This is one of the best scenes i've ever seen in an IMAX theater. The whole room shook, the chairs trembled with the sound of this beast of a car. Ash Thorp is GOAT.
They did this scene, among so many others in this film, so amazingly perfect. There’s such a clear understanding, especially of those beginning days, of Batman and this character and what he is in represents. This Batmobile starting up scene is like watching a demon coming out of the ground. A giant demonic wolf that’s eyes are fixated on you as they intensify , with appropriate sound too, and the coming lunge . Hats off to Colin as well to perfectly react to this kind of situation with the correct amount of superstitious projection onto this scene and onto this car. Through Collins eyes you see the correct response of a criminal that is projecting onto the vehicle or a superstitious supernatural fear. It’s just so perfect. Fucking love it
probably the first time the batmobile felt like it was a character not a prop in the movie, best introduction to an iconic vehicle, it really felt like it was a sleeping monster that was disturbed from its slumber
Arguably one of the, if not the best Batmobile in the Batman franchise. There's a sense of realism, not too out-of-this-world vehicle. I also like Nolan's Tumbler. Realistic but made by Wayne's company, not by himself. But here comes Reeve's garage-built monster. A believable car that Bruce Wayne can produce in a comical world.
The Penguin screaming "Come on!", half-terrified, half-ecstatic adds so much to this character IMO. It's like he kinda enjoys this while at the same time being scared shitless. A real villain :D
It’s like a dopamine boost in the midst of an adrenaline fueled panic. Like laughing and then suddenly remembering there is nothing to laugh at and your ass is grass
Saw the movie in a theater that had an excellent sound system. The revving up and turbine spinning sounds were intimidating and scary especially since the car itself was in the dark so you didn’t quite know exactly what was going to come out of the shadows.
This scene is so fucking good. Colin is amazing at this role you can't even tell that it's him. The batmobile startup is executed in such a chilling way that you legit feel the fear setting in on Penguin. Great direction.
I even love the little detail that he stalls the car which shows that he’s still new to just about everything. Even then still one of the coolest startups I’ve ever seen. Gives me chills
So many people complained about that but couldn't even put Into perspective that he just literally finished building it. It's probably not even tuned but so called car guys complain otherwise.
Never expected that a Batmobile Crossover between aircraft and muscle car would work so great. Well, but I even had doubt about Robert Pattinson. Both, Batman and Batmobile were absolutely stunning though
Oh man rewatching this after Penguin makes me love this so much more! Oz is very influenced by men of high power, men of fear, and really cool cars and I almost sew some disgust yet admiration in that shot of him reacting to seeing the batmobile
I have seen many batmobiles in my 43 years of life. None. . . intimidated me more than this one. That thing was a monster. The turbine, the engine, then the afterburner. Holy Christ!
These comments all say the same. This scene was truly a real cinema experience. I worked hard that day and got to see the movie really late. Around that scene I was getting ready to fall asleep. When those engines started to rev I got Goosebumps all over me. Much respect for everyone who captured this scene.
The scene is only good for looking "cool"... why it happens makes no damn sense at all. Why did batman wait for him to get into a car, just to chase him down and cause a big wreck on freeway [which I assume some people died from]??? And then in the following scene Gordon and "The" Batman let him go like nothing happened...
I remember being among those that weren't exactly thrilled with this Batmobile design when it was initially revealed, but man, that intro had me sold immediately.
I love how everyone freezes when the car is revving. It's like when you're camping and everyone is laughing and then a mountain lion's scream comes from somewhere out in the night. Everyone just freezes for a second and you know that mortality has descended onto the campground.

Seeing this in theaters was a nexperience like no other. V8 felt like a V12 with the way it vibrated through my body. Film-making for this movie was generational and definitely set the bar high since it came out.

This scene alone was more thrilling than the last 5 MCU movies.
Nice!
Seriously, considering the MCU turns almost everything into a joke and lighthearted, it’s refreshing to see a superhero movie that shamelessly takes itself seriously
agree 100%
I'm a fckn huge fan of marvel but they haven't been it lately
Nah , the DC is just like at 1:00 ; good premises but bad execution...
Honestly , all the revving up like crazy just to stop without any reason maked me laugh lile crazy ; what a shit 😂
The only person penguin scared of, and I came here to act like this is the scene where the Batman chases the penguin and beats him up for what hes done to Victor
Same brooo
"This was when Penguin was still LIKABLE..."
Don't spoil. People will sit there thinking what he's gonna do to Victor while they're watching The Penguin.
The Batman 2 about to be peak holy shit!
0:33 this scene is pure ecstasy. Did not expect this model to be one of my favorite Batmobiles. Up there with the Tumbler.
This is better than the tumbler, considering Bruce made this car
abradolf lincler - true I’ve honestly never been a fan of Lucius Fox in the movies or comics.. having someone make something for Bruce instead him doing it himself - always didn’t sit right for me.
@@firstlast9846 it’s more realistic to have his stuff made by someone else who has put in the years of research to do so, Bruce being a master at everything is pretty far fetched, what at base he should be is a great detective and expert martial artist and have above average engineering skills but even with all these he would still need help as to not waste his time let’s say designing his grappling hook gun.
@@Justin-tt9cz I agree. Having Batman be a master at everything could make him feel like a Gary Stu. I think him having other people around him that help him behind the scenes is much more interesting.
As cool as I think this Batmobile is and how it looks like a beefed up 70s muscle car, it’s clear that it’s kind of a hodgepodge and primitive. I hope they at least keep this Batmobile as a base and he keeps upgrading it over the course of the trilogy.
@@doodledangernoodle2517 much agreed, I do like it’s look, but I think as Bruce goes older he’s gonna be wanting to cruise in more than just the bare necessities 😂
In the film theater, I was grinning like a madman during this entire scene, the startup sounds were extremely powerful coming trough the film theater sound system and the entire chase is a masterpiece. To the entire cast and crew and production company, YOU ARE LEGENDS!
IT'S NOT JUST A SOUND, IT'S FEAR!
It's RAGE
What I really love about this scene is that when they all turned their attention to the sound. They’ve never heard any vehicle made such a sound in their lifetime; so you could imagine what was going through their minds. That vehicle had the engine sound capacity of a thousand roaring lions in perfect unison. Especially the screech it made before the engine started roaring; almost like the sound of many banshees.
man I saw the batmobile in real life in 5th avenue New York when this movie came out, this scene and this car is a work of art and passion.

The only time the batmobile was portrayed as a tank was Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, I'm pretty sure.
@@ARG0Tit was also a tank in the arkham games and in the snyderverse
@@gian-luca6171 Forgot about the Arkham games. Never cared for the Snyder movies
I mean batman's number 1 tool is fear.
It's not stealthy at all. Listen to it.
The way everyone just starts looking around like “what the ever living FUCK is that noise?” Gold!
My favourite scene in the movie, the car being in the dark with just the blue light from the turbine and exhaust, the high pitch screeching of the turbine, the intimidation factor of the whole thing
My favorite scene too!
Pure rage unleashed and heading your way
I’m surprised a lot of people aren’t talking about how Batman is challenging Penguin in this scene. As he revs up the engine you can see Penguin getting increasingly angry at the fact that Batman is flexing on him.
It’s like getting a higher grade than the smartest kid in class that can’t handle being number 2(?)
Also from a narrative standpoint the the roar of the Batmobile is louder ever time the camera focuses on penguin displaying his rage at the fact he’s being outdone.
People may not be talking about it because the Penguin is getting scared, not angry. That's why he runs.
I think the Penguin was more scared than angry.
The banshee-like scream of the Batmobile's engine starting up gave me goosebumps while I was in the theater.
Love how the Batmobile sounds like something out of Mad Max
I absolutely love the staredown batman gives as Oswald just mag dumps into his passenger window.
It’s the look on everyone’s face when they are like, “wtf is that” 🤣

This scene is so much more satisfying after watching the penguin…as much of an a**hole penguin was he still scared of Batman…just awesome
This is one of the best scenes in cinematic history. The excitement I felt in the cinema was extraordinary
Even I felt intimidated from the start up of the bat mobile while in theaters
This is why Sofia Falcone only had 1 bag in The Penguin
Cooooool

I remember watching this in the theater and the sound of the afterburner just filled the room and I was smiling
This is one of the best scenes i've ever seen in an IMAX theater. The whole room shook, the chairs trembled with the sound of this beast of a car. Ash Thorp is GOAT.
the batmobile moving forward a bit was like "i dare you to get in that car and get chased."
Fucking love it
I've watched this scene 100000000000 times and I still have shivers every time I see it
This is by far one of the best home audio scenes to showcase your system. This whole movie was a masterpiece.
probably the first time the batmobile felt like it was a character not a prop in the movie, best introduction to an iconic vehicle, it really felt like it was a sleeping monster that was disturbed from its slumber
Yeah this Batmobile was different. It was like a hot-rod lashed together from nightmares.
batman 89' batmobile is still my favourite, it looks so aggressive
The Penguin screaming "Come on!", half-terrified, half-ecstatic adds so much to this character IMO. It's like he kinda enjoys this while at the same time being scared shitless.

Bro this scene in the cinema was something else. It was the first movie I actually watched it at a cinema. Best first experience ever
Penguin: HEY VENGEANCE
Batmobile: Starts.
Penguin: Sir, I want to reevaluate and leave.

"Understood. Have a good day."

The second the car turned on, I literally grabbed my brother and started shaking him
Loved this movie. One of the best chase scenes since Dark Knight.
I like the 4 notes they play every time Batman is on to someone.
I love how Pinguine handles the UZI like a garden hose
I even love the little detail that he stalls the car which shows that he’s still new to just about everything. Even then still one of the coolest startups I’ve ever seen. Gives me chills
So many people complained about that but couldn't even put Into perspective that he just literally finished building it. It's probably not even tuned but so called car guys complain otherwise.

I'm glad others noticed that. The criminals instinctively all scrambled around thinking they had a chance in that moment.
the screams of a banshee and the roar of a lion
Never expected that a Batmobile Crossover between aircraft and muscle car would work so great. Well, but I even had doubt about Robert Pattinson. Both, Batman and Batmobile were absolutely stunning though
One things about this Batman, is he loves spectacle. Its amazing.
The feeling of the Batmobile revving up and the *sound* it makes. One of _those_ moments.
Oh man rewatching this after Penguin makes me love this so much more! Oz is very influenced by men of high power, men of fear, and really cool cars and I almost sew some disgust yet admiration in that shot of him reacting to seeing the batmobile

That's not a car, that's a nazgûl
A freaking Road Runner with a modified V8 Hemi. If this isn't the manliest Batmobile ever made i don't know what it is.
I have seen many batmobiles in my 43 years of life. None. . . intimidated me more than this one. That thing was a monster. The turbine, the engine, then the afterburner. Holy Christ!
0:34 seconds in then BOOM! Wet myself 😅
That was not “one” of the best introductions to the Batmobile. That was THE BEST introductions to the Batmobile.
These comments all say the same. This scene was truly a real cinema experience. I worked hard that day and got to see the movie really late. Around that scene I was getting ready to fall asleep. The scene is only good for looking "cool"... why it happens makes no damn sense at all.
