    The 2018 Volvo XC60 is out and we got our hands on the T6 AWD R-design trim. Come see what I have to say about the good, the bad, and the ugly of this beautiful mid-size SUV from Volvo. Did Volvo make a seriously strong SUV competitor or will this one just blend in with the crowd in an already saturated segment?

    Loved having this car for a week! What a joy to drive. Something not often said about SUVs and crossovers. Feel free to reach out with any questions regarding this model here: contact@shiftinglanes.com

    These engines have been around since 2015 in the s60 drive e cars. On these earlier cars there have been issues of the spark plugs breaking and falling into the cylinder damaging the engine. It seems like the issue has been sorted now.

      Yeah, I’m a service tech at a volvo dealership and there is an ongoing recall on those spark plugs. Any time someone brings their car in for service, we change the spark plugs for free under warranty if they haven’t been changed yet.

    What was the check engine light? Curious because I got one of the first batches of the 2018 XC60 R-Designs where it was manufactured in Europe. It is nearly a year old now with more than 12000 miles on it. I have the T6 with the Polstar software upgrade. I drive in dynamic mode nearly daily leaving my office and flooring it to merge onto traffic :-) . Almost as much fun as the '16 S4 I had for a bit but way more room and better tech. So far the only problem I had was a bad speaker on delivery (B&W). Tires are ridiculous though. Since I bought it at the start of the winter I went to get another set of tires the next day to find that at the time there were exactly 8 tires that fit all summer tires except one winter tire. Now I think there are more options available. I am leasing it, concerned about the longevity of the motor and how I would probably flog it at every opportunity.

      Looks like it was just improper gas octane rating. Since I was in Maine, they did not have 93 available. I put in 91.

    • @zappos1234
      @zappos1234 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      so not a good car for CA (we only get up-to 91 Octane gas)

    • @sveddish
      @sveddish 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope, 91 is recommended for the T6 engine. For the lower tiers, 87 is enough. volvo.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9746/~/fuel-requirements

      R design has 10mm lower and stiffer springs for the standard. Pro has air suspension.

    The ugly is that stupid rear door line thing, the one that enters the back wheel hose and I don’t think that the Bowers & Wilkins sound system is not worth to pay about 2 base model 01 V70n/p2 2,4 liter extra over stock.
    I personally think that it should go around like the old generation XC60 but other than that I think it looks great.
    I been in a Polestar V60 that was Rebel blue and that does not look like it.
    The bad i miss the B5254, B5244 and B5204 based 5 cylinder engines.
