People need to slow their roll on both these for a solid year…let the issue come to surface and then buy Gen 2 of either next year. Talking from experience
Heard about a Glock 69 wow. Yeah kinda freaky when the box says $525.00. Same as you tried to see if they made a mistake. Could not get the optic for trade. Darn anyway targets perfect and bounces back spot on.🎉
The failure to feed is probably caused by 1 of 2 things. Either it’s one of the earlier releases with the weaker recoil system and/or the magazine spring doesn’t have enough pressure. I had both which lead to failure to return to battery then failure to feed. Contacted canik and they sent out a stiffer recoil system and bent the top coil at the follower in my magazines and haven’t had an issue since.
Had to send my reflex in to FN 3 days after I picked it up. 90rds of Winchester 115 grain and the fire control pin holding the hammer mechanism to the frame began coming out on its own. I was at the UPS store shipping it back last Tuesday, got an email with a tracking number first thing this morning. Called them for an update on the fix, said the pin was installed backwards. Not making me very confident in my first gun purchase for my ccw. Considering selling it and picking up my first choice, hk vp9sk. But I can’t justify dropping another $6-800 without giving the reflex another shot at the range. My only FTF issues were after I cleaned it before first range day. I loaded a mag and racked the slide to have it fail maybe 7-10 times. Figured out it was because I was babying it and trying to control the slide. Began treating it like a firearm and it didn’t fail once since. Even with the 90rds And the 4-5 Federal HST 124 grains I sent through. Love the gun, just don’t know if I trust it with my life yet. We’ll see after another 150-200 rounds.
The Canik MC9 may have the best trigger, but the PC Shield Plus is probably the closest trigger to it. And the Shield's reputation is above most other brands, and perhaps may be as good as the Glock's!
I really like how the Canik feels in my hand. I will be taking it out to the range soon and after firing about 50 to 100 rounds. I am hoping it'll become a new carry gun!
A guy on TH-cam has videos of mag base plates he makes that makes the mete mag flush on the back of your hand and he makes a sleeve for the bigger canick mags.
The reflex has the better extension mag, it fits better in the palm where as the Canik has that opening in the back side which can be an issue to those feelings on the palm
@@BGWya stop playing..Glocks micro 9 cannot take G19 or 26 mags 🤣🤣🤣..And I own the 43X MOS..I have to buy aftermarket to get good capacity and that reliability is questionable
You didn't have a fail to feed, the slide was just locked open. Probably your thumb pushed up on the slide lock lever. This is common with canik and walthers. What I wanted to hear you talk about was recoil impulse, which gun was more controllable? What gun was more snappy or were they exactly the same? Also you said at two different points that the canik definitely had the best trigger then you said the FN definitely had the best trigger.
mc9 is outstanding - however, I absolutely had to polish my feed ramp . Had feeding issues from day 1. So, well, thats a fact. The gun is solid... only when you put in the elbow time to polish that feed ramp with some 1000 grit for a while. Pour a whiskey, put on your fav movie, and sit there and polish for a while. Not sure canik designed it that way, but the finish job is absolutely needed here. I guess thats how they saved money.
I did the same thing. I think the carbon build-up on the ramp after putting several mags through it also caused a bit of a hiccup, but if polished nicely it makes a huge difference. The recoil spring is another thing as well.
The mete mc9 needs to be fixed before i even consider it. Good on Canik for sending out new parts having to do with the 3 issues it has. Waiting for a new batch to see if it gets taken care of on a large scale.
I think the Canik has more bang for the buck, a complete package out of the box. But both seem great, I'd still go with a Sig P365 X Macro myself but this market is getting crowded for micro carry pistol, which is a great thing for us buyers.
Have the Reflex and put 800 rounds through it and the freakin firing pin messed up.my 509C done the same thing.will sell them both once i replace the firing pin in the Reflex.
Here's the thing, Canik started out rocky. It took them a few guns to figure it out. Their later model TP and Mete line had excellent reliability and probably the best out of the box triggers for mass manufactured guns. Then they make an all new design that uses very little of what’s proven in their other guns and barely test it. The MC9 so far has been a bit iffy with reliability, if you look all over various forums, the Canik subreddit and quite a few vids, its had some issues, whereas their other line of pistols pretty much have no problems.
As much as I like the Canik, the easier slide on the Reflex seems like it might make that one the better choice in my case. I'd have to shoot one to know for sure, though. :/
I am a rock climber and a vet, all this to say I am fairly fit, and I strong grip. The Canik SC, which I own and love, slide was hard to rack. To the point when I injured my left wrist I was not able to rack it. Luckily we have an EZ 9 at home, I just switched the light to it and could carry it in the SC holster till my wrist healed. The Mete SFX my friend has racks fairly easy, easier than the SC. The MC9 I handled seems to be easier than the SC as well.
@9MilRidge Agree or Disagree Here's a more articulate description of the issue I see with the Reflex trigger: The real issue I see with the trigger on the Reflex is not so much that it’s too light. At 4.5 lbs, I would call it “relatively light.” However, when that relatively light trigger also breaks farther forward than other handguns with which the shooter might be acquainted (Glock, S&W, Walther, etc.), the perception is that the pistol fires during what would (in those other handguns) be the take-up stage of the trigger stroke. That’s why I tried to stress at the end of the video that a shooter might have to be dedicated to this specific handgun. If he/she routinely fires other pistols, and fires the Reflex only on occasion, I could foresee the potential for unintended shots under stress.
I love my Rival Darkside, however the MC9 does not feel good in my hand. There are a lot of pressure points when gripping. Also, the shear number of complaints and videos Ive seen about failures to feed and failure to go into battery make this a no go as a carry gun for me. I feel like Canik dropped the ball with the MC9.
I didn't care for the Canik... Feels off, somehow... Trigger was great, as all Caniks are, but not like the SF, Rival, or other full size Caniks. Just don't like the way it shoots... Very upsetting. I will try the Reflex as soon as I can get my hands on one... Excited to see if it lives up to the hype. Hopefully it will do better than the Canik.

It has an internal drop safety. Probably as safe as carrying any striker fired, but I wouldn't be opposed to an external safety, since it is hammer fired.

I bought the Canik. It absolutely sucked. First 200 rounds probably had 25 malfunctions. Mostly the slide locking open in the middle of a magazine but also several failures to go into battery and some failures to feed. Also it seemed to shoot way high and neither magazine dropped freely. Big disappointment. Lost my ass trading it for a Sig P365.
