The thing I love most about the cardinal sessions is they capture vulnerability; she’s playing out in a public park, alone, standing up, maybe even feeling a little awkward/embarrassed. Like all good music, it’s very honest. It’s also great that she started cracking up halfway through. Lindsey shreds!
I love the sound of her voice. I love the sound of the guitar. It's 'heat wave' for Christsake. Of course it should sound slow, and a little 'out of tune'. how perfect for the song. I think it sounds freaking amazing.
i'm not one to comment on youtube videos, but the amount of negative comments on this video is astounding to me tbh. she sounds amazing and the song becomes something entirely different but equally gorgeous acoustically
It's honestly garage dude. There's nothing wrong with her songwriting, nor her produced songs. But whatever the fuck they tried to do here is disgusting
People complaining about this video are just complaining about feeling something... This video and performance are beautiful and vulnerable in the extreme.
The emotion in this is devastating. It’s not perfect, but I think that offers a different take. If you like the album version that’s great, this is just different and just as good for different reasons.
The first time i saw you it was in "audiotree", i guess, and it was an incredible performance, like this!!!, u got a fan in ARGENTINA, i hope some day to see you around here!!!
Idk man there's a difference between a few mistakes and pretty much butchering your whole song. I love snail mail just as much as the next person but this was just an unrehearsed rushed performance. Could have been soooo much better.
@@MegaCoolkid7 no shade and no hate...I saw them at streetfest this past summer. they were GREAT! I bought the new release immediately. It just hurts a little to hear her guitar kinda out..I can see her capo is all lopsided, too...oh well. I'm still a fan.
I love her music but her this needed some work. Get the guitar in tune, reduce the number of dramatic pauses and play a guitar you're comfortable with. Here I had the feeling she's not used to playing this acoustic guitar which causes her to make quite a few mistakes.
I know it’s a year later so you’ve probably learned more but she’s literally been playing her whole life. I’m sure she’s got plenty of practice with a metronome and tuner
I'd love to hear another acoustic version but she should SIT DOWN bc she's clearly struggling to play and sing while walking lmao, it could've sounded amazing! Y'all should watch her other live performances ( on KEXP, Audiotree, NPR) before judging smh, she's super talented!
Love Snail Mail but i these live performances are hard watch. Im sure im with alot of people here when i say she sounds like shes dying or its hurting her to sing.
Im sorry but anyone who thinks this preformance is good holy shit... She literally changes tempo about 15 times.. her voice is out of tune, her intonation on the guitar is out of tune (its her fingering not the guitar cause the open chords sound fine some of the time). Really like Snail mail but this is reallllly bad. I would have refused to let someone publish this tbh lol.. She is so much better than this.
Damn imagine thinking "good" is objective. Music doesn't have to be perfectly in time, it doesn't have to be "in tune". I personally love hearing covers that sound exactly like the studio recording, it lets me know how tight the group/artist is but I have a soft spot for musicians that go in a different direction too.

Nah this was just bad lol. The rhythm is off and she’s often not singing in key

Wow this sounds beautiful acoustic.
She is indeed amazing. I've seen her live. Incredible musician.
She has come a long way since this was recorded in many many ways. The best is yet to come!
Might sound crazy but I find myself really preferring how she played before 2020-21

she’s so f u c k i n g good
So I was creepin' your channel and that video of vintage Lindsey is truly amazing.
@@TomClothier rightttt
She was cool, but her guitar was for sure out of tune, and it threw the whole thing off.
Ha ha
Thumbnail look a bit like Kurt Cobain
Awesome❤️
Damn one take and it sounds sooo good
this video is my religion
Thats my Hood
Te amo T.T
LJ killin' it even acoustically
Wie Neil Young
Heat wave is one of those songs that sounds a lot better fully produced and at the speed you get on the record.
please tell me guitar maker she use
cool gitar in one part
1.25x speed
Why they make her walk while singing and playing? It's a little bit difficult to do that...
What are thoooooose?
youre gud
Was making her walk through a park really essential - there's no need for that torture
guitar a bit out of tune.
Luis Miramontes makes it extra good

Look at her capo its jacked sideways
@@josiahjackson2361 yup !
@@lifeisShort66 Yeah I don't think its "out of tune" but her capo is not on properly.
Honey
In all fairness it's probably pretty difficult to walk and sing in tune at the same time.

She's a classical guitarist though, I think she transposed the key of the song to preserve her voice?
Damn, love snail mail but a little practice with a metronome and a tuner would go a long way. Her voice sounds great tho

Love her voice, but she’s for sure got a string or 2 out of tune.
its part of the indie rock aesthetic. I always tune my b string a little flat.
@@incurable_humanist Stop doing that forever please
@@uncomfortableshirt nah man it sounds great. John fruiscante even did it
Uncomfortable Shirt The B string is a really annoying sounding string when in perfect tune tho
@@eatmyshorts9815 depends on the guitar, intonation, what tuning you're even in to begin with, altitude change, humidity, etc.
im a huge snail mail fan but this video made me uncomfortable
why lol
not her best voice moment but still good
like the version, but the out of tune guitar bugs the shit out of me...
I don’t play guitar but don’t they sometimes intentionally tune it differently? I sort of doubt that it was “out of tune”
everyone stfu she sounds amazing

She's actually signed to two labels.
the guitar needs to be a mixed bit louder, but great performance!

Stick to re-runs of American Idol, buddy.
Scott Teresi haha. Ok deaf guy
She really is amazing her voice just got destroyed after a year long tour. She’s better now she let her voice heal.
