"And I hope whoever it is Holds their breath around you Cause’ I know I did" I think this line is particularly lovely. It captures that sort of confessional, innocent love that we experience when we're young while simultaneously exploring a more mature outlook. However, you can tell she's still sorting through her feelings in real time. I agree that this song is well written.
I think that Snail Mail, Car Seat Headrest, and some other bands out there are doing an indie-rock very representative of this age. The allusions with The Strokes and the 90's vibe are pretty strong and i love it. Thanks for this kind of music.
There's something about these out-of-tune songs that give me a feeling of warmth and fuzziness, like snuggling up against a warm amplifier. So glad I found out about this incredible song through college radio!
Ok... how does one get the "I'm feeling low... I'm not into sometimes' refrain out of their head? One of the best kickin' songs ever written.... what a groove... just out of this world LJ!
With all the other reasons to love this (obviously the sound, the visceral lyrics, her voice) this video had me tearing up when she was going full tilt away from the aggressors. And she can feckin skate! Stay ferocious!
I was a college freshman in 1994, and I can fully imagine myself in the university library in front of a pile of book with this playing on my Sony Discman, pining for a girl...
Okay so I thought I was going crazy at my job, they added this song to the store song list. I was listening like "They couldn't possibly be playing fucking Snail Mail in Marshalls."
I keep telling everyone Snail Mail, along a few others, will shape the future of the best indie/alt rock to come, and every song they release becomes further proof of this. Lush will def rule, Lindsey is the realest.
Daniel Garcia Julien Baker, snail mail, Japanese Breakfast, Phoebe Bridgers, soccer mommy, King Krule, car seat headrest... the future of indie music is in good hands. Shout out to Matador records for finding all the best talent!
Despite a never-ending influx of new bands popping up all the time, as of the last few years it's felt to me that not too many have made too big a splash/project a lot of staying power in the genre. Not to mention, a ton of bands from the early to late '00s have already settled into their fame, so I felt this palpable power vacuum. But now that the senior class has graduated, it's time for a new group of freshmen. There was a breakthrough for me last year in the form of Charly Bliss, but I think Snail Mail is the newcomer that'll arguably make the biggest splash in indie rock in 2018.
This and Oblivion will always be my peaks for indie. The visuals for both. Northern vibes. I swear all the best music comes from where youd least expect it. So poetic, in the minds of young women
This is so weird I literally played on the same ice hockey team as Lindsey for a bit. We needed more people for our team so she would come and play with us sometimes
Rolando Winborn nah she’s actually from ellicott city it’s a suburb of Baltimore. It’s all good lol 😂 yeah hockey is becoming more popular in Maryland so there’s a lot of youth hockey teams
@Meredith Dady oh dang I don’t remember a whole lot cause that was back in like 2013 🤣 I talked to her a little bit I think? Although we usually didn’t play on the same line if I remember correctly

Alvvays, Phoebe Bridgers, The Beths, Waxahatchee, and of course Snail Mail. As a 57 year old indie rock dude from waayyy back I am totally down with all these bad ass chicas carrying the torch!
dude I remember when she used to do covers here in youtube. Her channel was random like any other. It's a trip to see her became more and more famous in a so little time, while I stuck in the same bullshit
Amazin video and tune. Read in an article that she was a ice hockey player in her youth and got bullied out by all the dudes, real cool lyrics especially the lyric "Won't you give it up green eyes"
the way I perceived is that the people on her team probably said something along those lines to bring her down "Won't you give it up/ give up" etc just thought it was a clever lyric that goes well with the vid too
I didn’t play on the boys team with her but she played on the travel girls team with me so it’s weird to see her so famous now. Also I wouldn’t be surprised there were some real jerks on the travel teams in our hockey organization
all of these great new jams echo the 90's. makes me feel old balls to say it but the 90's is classic rock all of a sudden. like when we were kids listening to zeppelin and hendrix.
She filled the emptiness in my soul .. , her voice is so special I'm truly obsessed with this song it's like a song that could bring people together especially the ones who yarn for someone to love them whole...

I only discovered this band a year and a half ago and i was like, thank you! Finally a newish indie band to love. They just don't get enough love these days. I was in a very authentic East Indian restaurant when i heard them for the first time. They were playing Slug and damn. I couldn't believe it. I've picked up great music at random places before but i never expected to there. It was so cool.
Love this. I'm mainly a metal guy but this chick gives me the "feels". Very catchy. Reminds me of Super Girls like Liz Phair or Mazzy Star. Good stuff!
I am 29, gay, pathetically in love and going through real intense heartbreak. How on EARTH did Lindsey write, basically my entire experience better than I ever could? wtf did I even do at 18? I think I ate a pile of salt for a dollar... This record is gonna be my therapy and my good good companion for the summer. Thanks for releasing such awesome material

that's not true shaun, you are remarkable in your own way.
Three other names stand out at that age (17, 18). Fiona Apple, Soap&Skin (Anja Plaschg) and Alanis Morissette

Snail Mail and Car Seat Headrest represent the new era of indie, which is incredibly lyrical and introspective. Long live indie
Love snail mail and car seat headrest:)
This doesn't sound like the strokes, thank GOd
The Strokes released their music after 2001, not the 90's and this has no allusions to The Strokes. This just sounds like a sweeter Liz Phair.
Soccer Mommy is another great one.
