I was born in 1990 and because of 90s diet culture along with an unhealthy outlook on food in my family, I’ve struggled for YEARS (since I was about 8) with yo-yoing between a healthy outlook on food and a disordered outlook. Every time I get the urge to SUPER restrict or diet in an unhealthy way, I turn to your content and it reminds me why being healthy and strong is the answer - I feel better, loook better, and am happier when I’m practicing healthy food and diet habits. I came off the pill last year after 12 years on it and it was LIFE CHANGING I wish I’d done it so much sooner. Period returned after 8 weeks and has been manageable and consistent since, I’ve had more energy and less stress etc. it feels really empowering to be learning about and flourishing in my natural cycles now🥰🥰🥰

I'm so happy for you getting off of birth control! Like you I was on it since i was 14/15, and got off of it about two years ago at age 26. I never had a regular period while on birth control, and felt that I was almost "missing out"... I wanted to be able to gauge my hormonal and physical health by having regular periods again. And we honestly don't really know what the effects of birth control are long term. It feels very freeing! Oh and to add, I'd love to see your bulking journey! I enjoyed your bulk and cutting "phases" that you did last year and into this year❤️
Yeah it’s honestly wild how normal it is that young developing women are put on life altering hormones. My friend always thought that feeling lethargic and have 0 libido was normal until she got off birth control after 13 years at age 28 and found out she has way more energy and a healthy sex drive. Hope your journey is going well for you!
LOVED the part in the end where you talked about birth control and menstruation. Birth control is great in the way it can give bodily autonomy to women, but it is important to realize what we are doing by altering our hormones for as long as many women do (including myself). So I gave up. 2023 was really hard for me and when my birthday came around and I turned 15 I found your TH-cam channel and I was motivated to get consistent and not care about others opinions and you really helped me do that! Because you are more of a “natural” and approach your diet in such a healthy way, I think it would be helpful and inspirational for other gals to see how you do this! And also… 100% agree with you about growing up in the 90’s. I had the exact same experience. ANTM was something I watched growing up and bought into you have to be model “thin” or model “plus size” to be beautiful. I was an athletic gal so I never felt like I “fit in” or my body was beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

I’m 31 and also recently stopped my oral birth control after being on it for 14 years straight (also put on for painful heavy periods as a teenager). I feel everything you’re saying so much 💛 I used to see my period as a major inconvenience and never let myself have a period. Entering my 30s I just felt like it wasn’t right to be suppressing my body’s normal cycle anymore. When I got off, I definitely noticed a larger emotional range -both good and bad, but I wouldn’t have it any other way because the highs in life suddenly became more colorful. It took 4 months for my cycle to come back with regularity. I just tried not to panic during this time and gave my body grace since I knew it was going through a big change. The biggest thing that happened is I started having severe inflammatory acne. I’ve always had low grade acne even on the pill, but maybe 1 or 2 pimples every so often. After a ton of trial and error with retinoids and benzoyl peroxide and elimination diets, I realized it was a food intolerance that was causing massive inflammation in my entire body. As soon as I cut out coffee, black tea, and cocoa (chocolate), my inflammatory acne went away. My bloating also stopped and my pre-menstrual symptoms are no longer painful. I realized the BC must have been masking the inflammation these foods caused for me for over a decade. My skin is now healing and I’m so grateful that I decided to stop. I feel happier and healthier than ever, and grateful that my body gave me such a clear warning sign (literally on my face lol) that I was putting foods in it that I was intolerant to. I am learning to love my period even though it is inconvenient because it is all a part of being a woman and embracing all parts of my femininity, even the parts that we’ve been conditioned to see as “bad”. Just wanted to share, your journey resonated with me. Wishing you all the best ❤

I grew up in Latin America where I believe the ideal for women’s body in the 90s was to be curvy/voluptuous, then moved to USA in 2000 and quickly realized the ideal body was basically to be thin, really thin, scary thin. Nowadays I see many women in North America going for the curvy body. I just love that you’re teaching young girls that it can be done without plastic surgery. I was on the pill from 15 to 30.. I quit taking it and I am so glad I did. I swear it gave me mood swings and made me a different person. The first cramps Ive had in 15 years wasn't really even that bad either, I embrace the pain now 🤪

I've been using a diva cup since 2018 and it makes my cycles way more manageable. It's a brand of menstrual cup that I've found to be the best one. No leaks while sleeping or working out, my bedsheets are never ruined, and it can last up to 10 hrs, also no used pads or tampons to wrap up.
Caudalie is nice but expensive! I use Hemp seed oil on my face to remove my makeup - it's amazing, if anyone is reading this you need to give it a try and save yourself hundreds of dollars. New to your channel, so happy I found you.

And also… 100% agree with you about growing up in the 90’s. I had the exact same experience. ANTM was something I watched growing up and bought into you have to be model “thin” or model “plus size” to be beautiful. I was an athletic gal so I never felt like I “fit in” or my body was beautiful.

Sophie, thank you for always being so candid and sweet in your vlogs! Watching always gives me inspiration but also makes me feel like everything will be okay. I’m someone who is very hard on myself but I love to see you posting how things are going and how you are feeling and how you are honest about things when they don’t work out too instead of pretending everything is perfect. So we all get a mix of your knowledge and experience in fitness and health (form, regimens, recipe ideas, etc) as well as your experience as a woman figuring life out like the rest of us. I’m 31 and also recently stopped my oral birth control after being on it for 14 years straight (also put on for painful heavy periods as a teenager). I feel everything you’re saying so much 💛 I used to see my period as a major inconvenience and never let myself have a period. Entering my 30s I just felt like it wasn’t right to be suppressing my body’s normal cycle anymore. When I got off, I definitely noticed a larger emotional range -both good and bad, but I wouldn’t have it any other way because the highs in life suddenly became more colorful. It took 4 months for my cycle to come back with regularity. I just tried not to panic during this time and gave my body grace since I knew it was going through a big change.
The biggest thing that happened is I started having severe inflammatory acne. I’ve always had low grade acne even on the pill, but maybe 1 or 2 pimples every so often. After a ton of trial and error with retinoids and benzoyl peroxide and elimination diets, I realized it was a food intolerance that was causing massive inflammation in my entire body. As soon as I cut out coffee, black tea, and cocoa (chocolate), my inflammatory acne went away. My bloating also stopped and my pre-menstrual symptoms are no longer painful. I realized the BC must have been masking the inflammation these foods caused for me for over a decade.
My skin is now healing and I’m so grateful that I decided to stop. I feel happier and healthier than ever, and grateful that my body gave me such a clear warning sign (literally on my face lol) that I was putting foods in it that I was intolerant to. I am learning to love my period even though it is inconvenient because it is all a part of being a woman and embracing all parts of my femininity, even the parts that we’ve been conditioned to see as “bad”.

I am 50 years old and I love watching your videos and my idea of what a beautiful feminine body looks like has changed. I love that muscular and athletic look. I have not looked or felt better and I can honestly say that I haven’t never treated my body with more love and respect than I do now. Watching you inspires me to keep trying to reach my best. I grew up in Latin America where I believe the ideal for women’s body in the 90s was to be curvy/voluptuous, then moved to USA in 2000 and quickly realized the ideal body was basically to be thin, really thin, scary thin. Nowadays I see many women in North America going for the curvy body. I just love that you’re teaching young girls that it can be done without plastic surgery. I found out about you recently and can’t stop watching your vlogs. Thanks for sharing!

As someone who struggles with losing weight (and has struggled all my life) I would appreciate seeing a bulking journey to normalize weight gain! Also, it'll give me the opportunity to then follow along with your cutting journey too. I really want to remove the emotion behind weight loss and replace it with science and mechanics. It will be a breath of fresh air. Traditional media has changed but I feel like diet culture is still very much a thing on social media.

And for me personally, in a bulking phase currently, it has been so difficult to find fitness inspiration that isn't cutting-focused.
I am so ready to see your bulk journey!!! I’ve actually gained some weight lately while recovering from surgery and I want to get back into the gym and continue a bulking phase before I try to lose these extra few pounds. Regardless of that though, you should post anything you want and there will always be people who want to see it and will find it!

I was on the pill from 15 to 30.. I quit taking it and I am so glad I did. I swear it gave me mood swings and made me a different person. The first cramps Ive had in 15 years wasn't really even that bad either, I embrace the pain now 🤪
I was just going through my memory box from the early 2000s yesterday (my late teens/early 20s) and noticing how sick and thin I was. I had definitely bought into 90s diet culture and i wish I'd had more positive influences at the time.

I've been using a diva cup since 2018 and it makes my cycles way more manageable. It's a brand of menstrual cup that I've found to be the best one. No leaks while sleeping or working out, my bedsheets are never ruined, and it can last up to 10 hrs, also no used pads or tampons to wrap up.

As someone very skinny in every area accept my stomach, I would love to see how you lean bulk while maintaining fitness. It’s hard coming up with a routine that includes cardio, getting a flat tummy while heavy lifting without losing so many calories and eating enough if that makes sense😭 love you and your videos❤️❤️❤️ you have my DREAM body girl!!!
