DO NOT STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING PLEASE! I'm so shocked at some of the brands you have called out. It's criminal that some of these brands are getting away with practically fraud with their over-hyped and over-charged products that are just literally not worth it! It's opened my eyes for sure, so please do carry on and hopefully these brands and more will start to sit up and listen. The ones you have named for sure should be hanging their heads in shame ☹️

I'm not a woman of colour but I love listening to your expertise on skincare and as a cosmetic formula. So glad I watched this video it's given me a great perspective on looking out for these overpriced products.

Thank you! My basket has just emptied! You just saved me from spending over £300 on shameful marketing. Please continue this great series of videos! As a massive beauty product junkie, I’ve given myself months and months of contact dermatitis just from believing the influencers/gumpf, parted with a ton of money and most of ‘22 has been spent trying to fix my face. Only way to do that is to become more skincare savvy, as you say, and stick to less is more, and to read the INCI list before checking out! Thank you again Dr V! ❤

Hi there, I just found your channel today while trying to research products I am considering purchasing. Finding someone who is a professional, knowledgeable, candid and honest about these products is a breath of fresh air. Please keep doing these videos! Consumers are being duped by pretty packaging, influencers, and hype that’s being shoved in front of us on the daily. I SO appreciate your knowledge and what you share with your viewers and the breakdown of the ingredients is super helpful. You read these labels and it’s all Greek and you have no idea what is good or bad. I have binge watched several of your videos and I am going to start writing down some of the ingredients and what they do. I have learned so much in just an hour and am looking forward to learning more. I’m 60 and I am Caucasian but I have an olive skin tone so hyperpigmentation has been an issue for me for a number of years and no wonder many of the products I use are all wrong for me. I have wasted so much money on products that don’t work and there is no one holding these companies accountable for what they are doing. It’s a multi billion dollar industry and like you said very little oversight or regulation. I am so grateful for you channel….I am also across the pond and I am a true fan of yours. Keep up the excellent work we love it!!❤️

I am glad to see someone speaking out about the bad products that cost so much. As a health care professional you should be ethical and not be bribed by money. I know the influencers need to make money, but should not do so at the cost of causing harm. Most of them are not clinical, so there may be some ignorance. However, there are many that have tried the products and know they do not work, but continue to swear by it. I hope other physicians/providers will be as honest as you are. Thank you for the information and continue to share.

Wish I would have found you as a teen, did everything I thought was right but didn’t realize it was actually damaging my skin, always thought that people with lighter skin had to be more careful, in reality when I hit my 30s I noticed all the hyperpigmentation that resulted from my teens years of using products that were harsh and hurting my skin. Would love to see more information on how teens can protect their skin from products that will age them.

I think it’s beneficial to share both - best and worst products because the industry needs to change and for that to happen, we need to know so we can take a stand. Thanks for also point out that Sephora is not listing all ingredients because it’s dishonest and can cause harm to their sensitive skin patrons. What if someone has a serious allergy to one of the ingredients they’ve removed? That’s a dangerous practice. I’ll be double checking ingredients when I shop on Sephora now that I know. Thank you!

You’re indeed making me unlearn so much that it’s great- esp. how I’d find products with a fragrance more appealing but now I’m just learning to recognise I’m better off without fragrance. Thank you for the information. I love Sephora, but it’s nice to know what to stay away from. As an Esthetician I know to read the ingredient list before buying. In fact, last week I went to Sephora looking for Alpha Arbutin. The corporate representative from Dr. Murad suggested their lightening product. I asked what was it in and she did not know the ingredients!! I read them to her and pointed out the actives (Glycolic Acid and Tranexamic Acid) and explained how they worked. I’m sure she was surprised and slightly embarrassed. I was shocked she didn’t know what was in the products she was selling.

Ive worked in high end beauty for well over 2 decades. Almost 3. And youre so right. These lines do not care. They see $ signs. Consumers have become much more skin savvy and I can see that in store when all my customers are turning the packaging around to look at the ingredient list. Theyre also asking many more questions than even a decade ago. I managed 3 different Sephoras and the only thing I would even think to buy in there is The Ordinary and maybe Paulas Choice although her line is very pricey now.

We *do* need to know what’s not good enough so as to help us choose the best for our skin. Including value for money and knowing exactly what we’e paying for and whether our skin actually needs it. I think it’s being wise, there’s nothing negative about that. Why waste money trying things we end up throwing out.

I love you exposing brands!! I love you for this because no one else is doing it to help us and the brands! We need to know this so that we the consumers are not falling for lies and being mislead. Thank you Dr V for helping us & educating us, and I hope brands do take note and re formulate their products. Literally shocking how brands lie and mislead us while it’s doing nothing to help.

LOVE that video !! It tells you facts with proofs. And just by the way you talk and your general passion for brown skin, we can tell there is nothing "mean" in your words....it only depends on the INCI list....AND I LOVE THAT.

As always another fantastically informative video. Thank you so much. I've never heard ANY person break skincare down the way you do, which is why I will keep coming back to your channel even though I'm not in your target audience. Your information is useful for everyone and I wish more people broke it all down with your level of analytic clarity. You are a true gem.

Hi, Dr Vanita, I really admire your honesty. Your advice is important for me as I have rosacea and it is hard for me to find the right skin care, I`m always with skin irritation/redness... I got here for the anti-ageing products/information. I loved to watch your video. You got a new subscriber, and I just bought your book.

I appreciate this video, it is useful to know brands to avoid and you were not derogatory or condescending in your review. It is good to have a focus on the positive but also very helpful to have the knowledge to see the truth behind the marketing glitter.

What a great video! It's all about money for big companies! Plus, Loreal' will own everything soon! I just ordered big jar of Protini and was so afraid of your review but at the end of your video it was such a relief! lol

I like how you teach the good and bad. Being well informed is important. If you don’t educate us, then who will? I love your channel and work. Your passion and truth is what matters. I’m learning for myself and for my daughters so they know how to create their own skincare routine. I just want to say, “thank you”❤

Thank you for pointing out the things we should stay away from. There is so much on the market and with all the skin issues that come up us as consumers are bound to try some and some of them can be absolutely terrible for our skin. I really appreciate you and all you do

Just discovered your channel and can’t wait to binge on your videos. Such great information. I would like to say, videos containing info on what products to stay away from are equally informative as highlighting great, cost effective products. Thank you for all your doing with you channel. I am a happy new subscriber!💖

Just found you while looking for a product review and I’m so happy I did!! ❤ Please don’t stop doing what you’re doing. It’s not necessary to only provide positive info on products. I love to know what ingredients make a product undesirable and getting general knowledge on what’s bad for my skin. I’ve spent too much money trying to find the best products and I’ve learned so much just watching a few of your videos.

I thank you Dr. V for working with your conscience. I appreciate your honesty especially since so much money is spent to ensure the skin is the best it can be, and then the products don't all live up to the hype. You're incredibly valuable to us with skin of color. Please keep up the passion and our education.

This is really interesting and in time for black friday, thanks so much Dr V. So glad Sephora has finally come to the UK although I only like the makeup from there. Skin fix is a brand I was curious about as a lot of US youtubers seem to praise it. Although it's unbelievable the Sephora purposely removed the fragrance from the ingredients list, that's so sneaky! That should be reported
