I think the biggest thing I've learned from these videos is that the core of Hour of Promise, Spring to Mind, and various ramp cards is incredible. He's played these cards with various awesome win conditions and the decks are always at least playable because of the great ramp. They're also a blast to watch, so keep it up Seth!
`Honestly, I've picked up stuff from like that from a ton of these videos. It's why I keep coming back for more! I think the bases of the decks he builds are usually pretty solid. Good info!
these are legitimately great lessons to take from this. if a deck using silly, slow cards can win against 'real' decks because of the shell, that generally means you have a really good shell. i actually think Apex of power can be a pretty legit ramp 'finisher', especially paired with sifter wurm. it's a 10 drop to flip, and sifter wurm can somewhat set up Apex to be a better hit, although there is that huge mana cost associated, so that direction is kinda rare. they basically both operate as huge spells that help you find your other huge spells also, i kind of want a bonus round because Apex of Power into Torment of Hailfire is a good showcasing of our almighty god-pharaoh wannabes power. using primal amulet is also a fun time, even though i know this would probably be a worse deck than today's AtO
MTGGoldfish Actually that's what should happen according to the rules of magic. When a token leaves the battlefield it vanishes as a state-based affect, which means that until the affect of a spell (like Baral's Expertise) doesn't finish resolving they stay in the hand of their owner (Seth in this case)
Not finished yet but the first game was indeed spectacular. Also that "iiiiiiiiin standard." Descending pitch "in" has become a Saffron Olive trademark.
The temur ramp and control shell is definitively my favorite thing in standard. With the various jank win conditions you have ran with this shell it makes me wonder how would a fully optimized version look like.
I know I shouldn't be that guy, but... 15:30 crack ifnir deadlands on knight (lands are colorless, so the hexproof from black shouldn't count) and swing for lethal unless disallow?
At 15:30 didn't you have lethal by giving the knight the 2 (-1, -1) counters from the ifnir deadlands, and lands are colorless, so the knight does not have hexproof from it.
He would have had to cast Brass's Bounty to get the black mana, but that would have worked unless the opponent had 2 cards that were each a counter or fog.
Oh wow, you got Apex Of Power to work? That's awesome. Mythicspoiler mistranslated it at first so I though Apex cast all the spells for free, so I thought it was just totally busted at first. It's awesome that we still made it work though!
Yeah, I tried to figure out a way to make Wildfire Eternal work, it either got blocked, die or if it did get in a hit than it made the mana during combat so we could only cast instants. It's a tough one with Apex of Power.
@MTGGoldfish I love this deck, but I believe that for some control decks, would be good to have a Revel in riches on Sideboard, because you just make a lot of treasures with Brass Bounty, and you could win with that card.
Great video! Do u think nexus of fate would be great as an addition to the deck? U have ramp and its a decent apex target and it would help tap control decks out during their turn so u can appex during ur own.
I always experienced with heavy removal decks with little creatures tend to have them in side board. You should leave in at least the targeted removal.
Omniscience requires you to have the combo in-hand, while Apex gives you a functional free 7 cards to cast, since the mana from Apex allows you to cast anything in the chosen color; you don't have to spend the Apex mana only on the exiled cards. That being said, Omniscience is just better outright.
You didn't need to concede game 2. They had only 16 power and you had a blocker. So either they attack for lethal and you block, or they don't swing with everything and they don't kill you
Honestly, there isn't a MTG channel that comes close to producing quality content as high as MTGGoldfish. It's entertaining, funny and there are so many different series to watch. Every episode is structured, curated and well edited. The 'pros' could definitely learn a thing or two about production value from here.
Apex of power just has very little power. It takes building around and the payoff is minimal. If I'm going to cast a 10 mana spell i want it to have an ulamog like effect, although nice video.
Drake the troll well its feels like one of the greediest decks i have ever played but can still win easily through double force so yeah its pretty nice. Its really extensive on thinking tho since you always need to calculate which cards you need to fetch with gamble in which situation for optimal results. When you are able to ritual into apex of power you win instantly with this deck thats why i play it.
Dapro Ulti I once played a 6 man game of commander with my etali resonator deck.. I hit omnicience, a pair of eldrazi titans, a few lands and apex. That was the best game
"Opponent, Opponent! I am very displeased."
Lol

Yeah, we've got some good ramp in Standard at the moment!
`Honestly, I've picked up stuff from like that from a ton of these videos. It's why I keep coming back for more! I think the bases of the decks he builds are usually pretty solid. Good info!

Lol, I love how the name of the deck is RB Furry then is changed to RB Fury. 10/10 editing
Has trouble pronouncing cards, and can't spell unplayable ones. That's our guy Seth.
Seth: *draws Apex of Power*
"Well, there's our sprint to mind"
Richard Price Same power level? Lol
"Doomfall, exile mode."
the best doomfall mode
"Turn three we can go Grow from the ashes into turn 4 Hour of Promise into turn 5 Brass's Bounty into turn 6 Apex of Power!"
Saffron Olive, everybody.
This was a good Against the Odds. That final game is more than enough to explain why.
i built the deck that your opponent was playing in MTG arena because the achievement was play 30 lands.... and i must say... its bloody good
There's no deck in standard quite like "RB Furry". 31:42
uwu
That first game was so sweet Seth, seriously enjoy these videos so much. Thank you for coming up with awesome jank!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Anyone catch the zombies bounce back to Seth’s hand at 22:27 lol
Why are they colorless?
Just #MTGO things.
Everytime when Seth says "It's a combo" the first thing that comes to mind is Dai Kaido from Future Card Buddyfight
Not finished yet but the first game was indeed spectacular. Also that "iiiiiiiiin standard." Descending pitch "in" has become a Saffron Olive trademark.
The last game was even more impressive. Very entertaining.
Love the deck, Seth. Kinda sad you didn't go the Wildfire Eternal way. UR Variant could've been fun. Glad to see you playing the card anyway! :)
The temur ramp and control shell is definitively my favorite thing in standard. With the various jank win conditions you have ran with this shell it makes me wonder how would a fully optimized version look like.
That last match is just beautiful.
Do you ever do rough drafts besides when new sets come out? If not you should more often, very fun to wathc
He does them sometimes with flashback drafts too.
But honestly? I think CFB is better if you want good draft footage to help you improve created by absolutely the best players around.
Whats CFB?
Scott Vogel Channel fireball
Good to know, thanks man.
15:35 just deadlands the knight and it's game. Am I missing something?
I ran a R/U version of this deck with wildfire eternal and tetsuko to allow free eternal value. Worked decently well.
8:06
Linus Westcott why can't they just separate the deck tech from the games + wrap up? Like they used to.
Mono red in standard is like Tron in modern.
Which parts of this deck do I take as updates for Sunbird's Bounty?
EDIT: Oof that match vs. Sunbird's.
I know I shouldn't be that guy, but...
15:30 crack ifnir deadlands on knight (lands are colorless, so the hexproof from black shouldn't count) and swing for lethal unless disallow?
Jank fuels me
yes yes yes yes. YES
Hmm, probably. Good call.
Time for the best deck of the week!
Oh wow, you got Apex Of Power to work? That's awesome. Mythicspoiler mistranslated it at first so I though Apex cast all the spells for free, so I thought it was just totally busted at first. It's awesome that we still made it work though!
If you could cast the cards for free it would be soooo much better.
49:08 did you just make a pun about your own name? "overolive though..."
There is one Minotaur that can cast it for free but in battle phase, probably not that abuse able
Hanmacx jackal* wildfire eternal, much better for free casting approaches and rivers rebuke though
He talks about that card in the first two minutes of the video.
Revel in Riches could be sweet!
Great video! Do u think nexus of fate would be great as an addition to the deck? U have ramp and its a decent apex target and it would help tap control decks out during their turn so u can appex during ur own.
Next of Fate could work in something similar, although we might have to cut some expensive stuff to make the curve work.
Do you think a brew with paradox engine and artifact ramp would work?
We've played a couple before, they are really fun but somewhat inconsistent.
I would like to know much more about the mono white weenie deck. Anyone have any good leads for a deck list in that flavor?
I think this is actually insane. Good lord the spice.
You should have run Revel in Riches in the Sideboard, for those moments where most other options are dead
Fun fact: I opened a foil Apex of Power at prerelease! :D
Sweet!
I always experienced with heavy removal decks with little creatures tend to have them in side board. You should leave in at least the targeted removal.
Could try Torment of Hailfire and Primal Amulet too to double apex, and just double everything
This is when standard is fun. This is when standard is REALLY fun.
I agree, these lands are pretty sweet
I was thinking more of a Jodah and Omniscience approach
Game 1 was everything I need in life.
I feel like Banefire would be a good include (maybe replacing Fight with Fire?)
Have you tried a version with the additional win-con of revel in riches?
Did anyone else notice that the RB Fury deck was called "RB Furry" in game 1?
Have you considered maybe using cut to ribbons instead of harnesses lightning just as another win con?
Could work.
How many times did he say Apex of Power in the video intro...?
Is match 1 opponent a modified version of a.little.epic's sylvan awakening deck??
Where is sun birds invocation
What if we just toss an omniscience in this deck? Would that be crazy or is that a good idea?
Omniscience could be fun, although we'd need card in hand to make it work.
Nexus of Fate control seems to be a semi-real deck
Yep!
Elijah Kleinman And the card costs 42 dollars!
Good video, thanks.
Why no Torment of Hailfire? That seems like it would be the the most straight forward way to sink 10 mana into a card and win?
Sweet deck looks fun.
This looks like a super fun deck, but the aggro matchups look rough.
Does he not know the mind part from spring to mind is instant?
I'd love to see Omniscience combo in Standard... or even better, omniscience+apex of power, the ultimate christmasland deck
What would happend if you copy une apex of power, wuth the amulet or something similar
Damia Alvarez exile 20, get 10 mana
It's actually the top seven cards that get exiled, so you exile 14, but only get the mana from the original copy (so 10).
Huh. Apex of power is sweet with sunbirds invocation.
is this just worst than doing it with sunbirds invocation?
The upside of Apex of Bounty is it potentially gets everything all at once, hard to say what is better though.
Best part of this video is realizing that the r/b deck name is r/b furry for a round while half asleep.
Why don't play Banfire in this deck ?
what card is brass's bounty?
It makes a lot of Treasures.
I'm feeling an Apex of Power/Worldfire for modern.
You made so much mana so many times. Surprised you didn't have a banefire (or 4)
Does the audio seem louder than usual? Or is it just me..
Revisit this with omnispell adept
What about Wildfire Eternal?
It's a tough one. Ends up getting killed or blocked a lot and the Apex mana comes during combat (so we can only caset instants).
Idk for 10 mana I would rather cast omniscience or kicked josu vess.
about 99 ninjas yeah... but is that as fun?🤷♂️
Omniscience requires you to have the combo in-hand, while Apex gives you a functional free 7 cards to cast, since the mana from Apex allows you to cast anything in the chosen color; you don't have to spend the Apex mana only on the exiled cards. That being said, Omniscience is just better outright.
Apparently you don't know about the Infinite combo...
But then how would you draw cards?
MTGGoldfish Casting Overwhelming Splendor off Omniscience is basically show and telling in a griselbrand
Wouldn't Omniscience be better but still jank?
Duncan Osmund It doesn't draw cards
If there was an X tokens spell, Brass bounty + Anointed procession + that spell would be sweet.
If you copy apex of power, would the copy give you 10 mana as well?
The copy would exile more cards, but you wouldn't get extra mana (since it wasn't cast from hand).
47:16 the true Apex of Power
Zero Hour at 38, shouldn't he played second apex from exile?
Hm would work but he doesn't gain mana :(
Yeah, the mana was the problem.
Yep
why no banefire?
I could see play a Banefire or two as a back win-con.
You didn't need to concede game 2. They had only 16 power and you had a blocker. So either they attack for lethal and you block, or they don't swing with everything and they don't kill you

Thanks!
My most expensive hand was a draco, 2 ulamog and a worldspine worm
Oh no
I was about to go to sleep :c
“I’m going to cast hinterland harbor” are you becoming Stephen green?
Maybe unintentionally...
Seth... you do know that during Game One of the RB Favor deck... it DEFINITELY says "RB FURRY"... LOOOL
I know now.
All these end of season spicy brews. T.T I need non retating spicyness
"Let's just spring for a island."
Man, Twitch donations have been good to Seth if he can just buy an island, mountain, and forest like it's nothing.
He should make a Apex of power deck in modern with Narset
Good Golly !
I don't understand people commenting "why use Apex of Power, Omniscience is better blablabla". Do they even know what they are watching?
Also where is omnipotence
Apex of power just has very little power. It takes building around and the payoff is minimal. If I'm going to cast a 10 mana spell i want it to have an ulamog like effect, although nice video.
kicked fight with fire? 10 damage to the face? I love it. I need to play this jank pile.
Remember the Weepy Voiced Killer? We found him.
15:30. You could have won a turn earlier if you used your black desert on the knight.
Hmm, true.
Banefire could be good
No copies of Jaya in this deck? Wow
Game 2 ifnir Deadlands could have killed the night for lethal swing.
sick af lol
Now play Nexus of Fate + Apex of Power together!!!!
where is omniscience??
i actually play this in my legacy mono red storm deck lol
Dapro Ulti is it any good?
Drake the troll well its feels like one of the greediest decks i have ever played but can still win easily through double force so yeah its pretty nice. Its really extensive on thinking tho since you always need to calculate which cards you need to fetch with gamble in which situation for optimal results. When you are able to ritual into apex of power you win instantly with this deck thats why i play it.

Dapro Ulti I once played a 6 man game of commander with my etali resonator deck.. I hit omnicience, a pair of eldrazi titans, a few lands and apex. That was the best game
MTGGoldfish yes you have rite of flame and seething song in legacy its pretty easy actually
rootbound craig
"I'm afraid of Thud." No; no you are not.
Add a banefire!
Banefire could be a sweet backup win condition.
31:04 - 34:05 Lol uh I didn't know there was a deck for people who dressed up as animals in Standard.
Liam Files welcome to the Internet. I will be your guide.
Oops.
