Opponent made a slight misplay on game 3 against the flicker deck (around 34:10). If they flickered Sheltered by Ghosts instead of Daybreak Coronet, Coronet would have fallen off anyway making Phelia survive combat
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a bogle is a general term for a Northumbrian, Cumbrian and/or Scottish spirit or other folkloric being. "Goblin" is probably the best comparable old term, as in its original usage a "goblin" basically referred to any weird, largely malevolent folklore creature (even elves / the Fair Folk were occasionally referred to as goblins). It's just a generic term for an evil fantastical creature.
One idea I always had with this deck is in game 2, siding in more non-boggle creatures with the hope that your opponent sides out all their removal. This way, you have a higher chance of having a creature for all your auras in your opening hand, and you can run better creatures.
Haha you had the same thought as me. Bogle is good to test out every now and again, especially after bans. It can easily blindside anyone and take a W.
5:41 they could actually could kill your bogle with a bowmasters, if they targeted their own young wolf with the enters trigger to make it a 2/2 and then blocked with all. this is also a good trade for them since orcish doesn't do anything in this matchup.
Reminding Modo Boomers about Slippery Bogle. We're definitely not playing enough Spirit Mantle. Alpha Authority in consideration of Lightpaws is NOT worth it. We should probably go down a Hyena Umbra for a 3rd one. Spirit Mantle breaks open board flood like the energy matchup.
I still have my modern Bogles deck from 2018/19ish. It was a beast, honestly had people sideboarding Glaring spotlight to try and combat it, as I won FNM week after week with it Its just to slow these days. Though I upgraded it with Savannahs and took it to a legacy event one time and actually got a couple of wins
Love boggles in pauper The utility for armadillo cloak is insane. Being able to target an aggro threat and gain life from their damage is hilarious to me.
@@laluckyman I thought the same thing, but, Rescue is mostly useful for granting Hexproof to Light Paws, +1/+1 with Flash for Bogle is kinda useless. Oh well, he won anyway… via timer
I love playing Boggles at my local game store. I've played ut so much people have started calling me The Boggle Master🤣🤣🤣. I approve that decklist though I might have added one dryad arbor which can be very surprising.
having played this in paper for quite sometime I'm more on the fence with light paws, when it works it does great but it feels janky and a little slow. Also i think the cartouche of solidarity is in the same boat when it works its a blow out but most of the time its kind of taken up a slot that can go towards other flex slots. One audacity vs the full play set could go brrr though. The full play set of leyline of the voids is hella greedy though as you cant cast it
Agree on Cartouche in particular. The main point of it in the old days was to make another creature to sacrifice to edicts. But that was when Liliana of the Veil was good, and it's been a few years since that was the case.
11:50 trample would still go over protection Also that 2nd game against WB is the epitome of never scoop early Also since we saw the budget version and the budget mana base definitely had moments where it hurt, would like to see if a non budget mana base would do better
I wonder if Gryff's boon shouldn't have been a keen sense as a draw engine to get more auras faster. Also should have played one of the 2 drop hexproof creatures as a third bogle.
@m.k.1547 okay, I can see a few sideboard slots, but it'll be a little bit of matchup roulette choosing what to cut. You probably don't have enough slots for everything.
This deck would be significantly improved, outside budget limitations, by adding Green Sun's Zenith instead of Light-Paws, and some Dryad Arbors for edict protection.
For Yaghw combo, dont you think its worth to play the Gaddok Teegs to stop the x spells? Or is shutting off chord not worth diluting the deck by taking out auras, and just play the leylines? Edit: Teeg also stops wrath of the skies.
I don't think you should scoop when you're at 13 minutes and they've blown through 30, I go back and forth on the this, I never play slowly and will just fire off a line when I know there's something complicated but I can't piece it together in paper after about a minute at a pivotal point, every other turn is like 20 seconds. If somebody online is going 30 minutes against your 16 and a half then you deserve the win. Like online is so much faster and you get 60 minutes per match with a perfect chess clock, there's so much consideration in paper that's totally gone online, like the chess clock should be part of the game, nobody wants their time wasted and that's exactly what happens when you concede to somebody who's used their whole clock. You can't play slowly online to go to time, even playing through the motions to get to time like in paper, there's nothing you can do to lower their clock. It's up to them to finish the match in that time.
Well great video, just commenting for the algorithm. Also to relay my video idea, proxy and build around a commander from heros of the realm cards. I'd really like someone to build around champions of archery.
bogels really don't have defining features and are more a grouping for several creatures of folklore on the british isles (namely scotland and england)
i played some tournaments with boggles. with shadowspear. wrath of skies.Thraben Charm. as MAIN board cards and everyone having enchantment hate for saga in SB .bogles has a hard time in my opinion. I will try a bant version for Staggering Insight.curious obsession.
I don't think it's a good time for Boggles, we still have a lot of combo in the format. Boggles is great in a fair meta, it's just one of the decks that don't really make the cut anymore sadly also Force of Vigor exists now.
I wish bogles would become a tier 1 deck again. I can still pull out some local shop weekly wins but it’s got some issues. I’d love to see a updated 2025 non budget bogles list!

Hammertime video: Under Pressure
Boggles video: Hammertime
Hammer = Hammer to fall (failed attempt)
Boggles = U Can't Touch This
Bogle is Scottish for goblin/phantasm
I think it might also be similar to a Boggart, which is an evil version of a brownie that makes itself a problem for all the people in its house.
Ahh, good to know.

1:30 Seth really can't resist comparing everything to Panharmonicon, lol
Anything that comes in three is Tron, anything that doubles is a Panharmonicon.
Awaiting the inevitable PanharmoniTron comparison...=)
Kicker is basically just panharmonicon but it has an extra cost and the extra effect is sometimes different and some i-
Omg crazy to see horizon canopy in a budget build. One of the most expensive cards when I played this deck a decade ago lol
Yeah, it's pretty wild. I remember it being $40, I was surprised to find it's one of the cheapest untapped dual lands now.
Flickering your Witch Enchantress land is some 5D Chess gameplay
That was crazy i loved it
That was a super cool play.
I mean I saw it coming but was a good play this decks been around for a min
Wow that energy game was frustrating! Three one-drops fighting off the GodBogle is just gross
Somehow I can root for basically any deck that I normally hate as long as Seth is giggling his way through it.
Same. The only time I rooted for Up The Beanstalk Elementals was because Seth was playing it lol
Agree
I would have snuck a 1 of fun of phyresis in there for a light-paws surprise
10:32 It's a bogle. A slippery one.
Thank you.
You just know Seth just did this deck because he remembered Bogle's funny face.
Maybe.... ;)
Speaking of Budget, when are we gonna see an updated 8Whack Goblins again? The whole none-budgetlist without Ragavan is like 80$ or so
Needs glistener elf in the board for games 2/3
Opponent made a slight misplay on game 3 against the flicker deck (around 34:10). If they flickered Sheltered by Ghosts instead of Daybreak Coronet, Coronet would have fallen off anyway making Phelia survive combat

Seth, if you want to use Siege Rhino in modern, you should absolutely play it in a Birthing Ritual shell!
@Seth you need to get a bottle of Bogle wine. When I found out that was a thing I nearly lost it lol
Seth's playing Bogles? Sounds like we're now witnessing his villain arc.
But its budget!

The tongue is out because it’s saying “Nan-nan nannannan…you can’t hit me”
This throws me back to playing alpha authority and madcap skills in standard. ❤
58:50 achieving the bogle singularity was incredible
12:05 maybe they were trying to hit Force of vigor?
Light-Paws is really an insane card. Gives you access to so much control especially with Sheltered By Ghosts (which is also an insane card).
33:19 why not give him another Coronet here? Bogle would’ve survived combat next turn if he had it. Why leave all your lands open?
He was leaving up Shardmage's Rescue but coronet might have been better

I think the art for Slippery Bogle is based on the Boglins toys we had back in the 80's. It looks exactly the same.
I think you should include a couple of fling effects in sideboard grindy/controlly matchups, where you need to be extra agro(kill before boardwipe)
I always got either made fun of or praised when I showed up to tournaments with bogles. Someone’s gotta do it! 😂
Seth should do a Much Abrew with that Orzhov Blink Deck, that sort of deck seems right up his alley.

24:20 Wouldnt sterling grove help against those enchantment destruction effects?
It would, but most decks aren't nearly as equipped as that one was to deal with enchantments. It's not worth having a dead in other matchups.
@natejablonski i was thinking about SG for the Sideboard as Option since the other Sideboardcards are as dead Here as SG would be in other matchups

you should do a bogles build around invisible stalker/arcanum wings/colossification. (It's rlly fun, trust me)
still have my boggles deck from 10 years ago :p
you can also add all that glitters.
Would Sterling Grove not make for a good addition to this deck? It'd help against removal heavy decks, no?
This deck would be significantly improved, outside budget limitations, by adding Green Sun's Zenith instead of Light-Paws, and some Dryad Arbors for edict protection.
